GREETINGS!

I suppose it's high time to get this show on the road. I've kept you all waiting long enough because of that stupid "IRL" thing the kids are raving about these days.

BASIC SETTING DETAILS

Skypoint

Skypoint is one of the largest trading hubs in the Skein, it rests in a central location in an unusually calm section of dreamspace and thus allows for easy and rapid transport to many nearby locations. a Towering pillar of earth and metal reaching up to the Wake-Point, Skein-sailors can see a great deal of the surrounding countryside. There is little you cannot find in skypoint, if you know where to look.

The Skein

The skein is the realm of dreams that binds the multiverse together. Most realms are fairly static, long contact with neighboring realms binding the dreams of their denizens into a sort of easily traversable net. Other realms have had little contact with Skein-traders and pirates, and tracking their dream wells can be very difficult, dangerous, and above all, lucrative. Other worlds, dead worlds, have no dream well, or merely an echo of one. many a tale tells of the poor ship that passes into the invisible maw of a dead well, never to be heard from again. Most such wells are too weak a memory to function, but there are still some that function, and some who can revive a dying memory enough to use.

Philostogen is the fuel of most Skein-vessels, it reacts oddly and sometimes unpredictably with magic, and perhaps most importantly is extraordinarily flammable. gathering it is incredibly dangerous without a specialized ship, but as it is a necessity for most, trade continues.

The Player Characters

This part is about you. if you read nothing else READ THIS. The PC's do not need to know each other. The P Cs do not need long, developed backstory. if anything, they need an excuse. you are all signing on to a vessel leaving Skypoint. you need not be from skypoint, you can make up your own realm, for all I care. This will be a level 5 adventure, to start, and we'll see where it goes from there. I HIGHLY suggest you put at least a point or two in ship-type skills unless you desire to play a complete newbie to the skein-ship business. this is perfectly fine. We are here to have fun people, I have a story I'd like to tell, but fun is first and foremost. Death is a possibility, as the skein is dangerous, but I am not out to get you you will run into hardships, by design, but it should not be anything you cannot handle.

I suppose I better stress this as well. This setting runs on Crazy Awesome Doing awesome things will appease the DM and the setting, and will give you bonuses or leniency. this is not Spirit Of The Century, I will not ask that you be crazy awesome all day every day, But a good show will most definitely weight probability in your favor. This should not be taken as an excuse to do STUPID things, there is a difference between making a plan that only has a Million to One Chance and a plan that is clearly stupid. I will warn you if the idea strikes me as a bad idea.

You WILL be spending a decent amount of time on the ship, However, there will be a good bit of dungeon diving, lost temples, and Space Pirates so I hope to have a little bit of everything in there.

NPC interactions WILL be affected by you, and the story, wile episodic in nature, will also have some sort of continuing narrative that will similarly be affect by your actions. There is no "Wrong" answer in the sense that "you sided with the wrong guys, game over" since the goal is to have fun, as long as you are having fun, we all win. On the other hand, as per NP Cs, your actions and allegiances will affect how others perceive you.

Character Building!

as per These tables (under ability scores) we shall start with 25 points (plus your 4th level stat bump). We will be leveling at a medium rate, and you will start with 6500 gold. you may purchase magic items up to level 6 without an in-character reason to have it.

All Races and classes are open, just please avoid making a munchkin. I'm looking at you matrix.

You already essentially shot down my munchkin build. :P (Which I thank you for, because I was seriously considering it, but I know how you guys don't like such things.)

Anyways, I'll see what everyone else does character-wise before I decide.

Sounds interesting, I have alway been a fan of 3.5. How much minmaxing is to be expected from us?

This wasn't really an open-group joey, sorry :P I should have mentioned that.

I keep forgetting other people read these things.

Okay, so I am pretty much going to play my Gunslinger, since I drew her and all.

Here's the Tangled Web character sheet.

Yes, yes, TW doesn't have a Pathfinder sheet, so I just used the 3.5 one. It's close enough that it works for the most part. The only parts where you'll have to change yourself are skills, XP, and the CMB/CMD, which you can see I made my own little table for in the special abilities section.

Right, okay. Some little changes to the character sheet have happened. Like the last two feats.

So... can I be part of this? How do I sign up?

Actually... never mind. I have enough on my plate as-is.

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.

So I'm thinking what I really need in order to get excited about the game is to decide how to play my character and what personality she should have. So far I'm thinking...Bottle Fairy. Maybe not literally an alcoholic, but certainly likes her liquor and gets a little goofy on it.

Ironeye and Jinxed have been informed, and approve. Any other thoughts?

Go for it, far be it from sailors to shy from a drink! you could flesh it out and make them covet a certain variety of drink(s) if you'd like too, to add a sidequest in the future.

Should we be worrying about things like food, water, extra sets of clothing, sleeping rolls, and the like for off-ship adventures?

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.

yes, but as you're heading to generally inhabited areas, you shouldn't have to worry too much. typically there will be some kind of warning if you're heading somewhere crazy where you'd need extra food.

I know personality type for my character.

Middle aged cranky blind halfling.... or well Toph... When she's in her 40s. XD Smacking people in the shins or outright lying about her blindness status... She's older and damnit she'll do what she damn well pleases!

I get all my books in today, so whenever Kara feels ready to begin, we can. We'd do well to start discussing schedules though.

I'm good most days of the weekend right now. I'd prefer not to play sundays though, since I have to work omgwtfearly sooo. yeah.

Probably just once a week too, it'll be simpler to plan that way, and lets those of us with other responsibilities time to handle them.

No no no, Lance...that's not how you do it. You say "This is when we're starting, take it or leave it." You don't twiddle your thumbs waiting for one particular player to go "I can haz game?"

I just have fewer things to have conflict, so I, not knowing other's schedules, was inviting input. What day works best? I'd be for a first session on friday if it's clear.

Is saturday alright then? I want to avoid having to be up late on sundays on account of 3-8 AM work on mondays and class from 10-4

Saturdays will also be difficult for the same span, and I'm already committed for the second Saturday of each month. Really, just assume I can make it this weekend on Saturday and will miss the next two weekends no matter what.
