Do they?

Unless they say otherwise, all effects should be power vs. save.

Right...yeah rogues skills test accuracy against phys save..forgot about that...raising Combat Accuracy is good idea then...but knife mastery is still good for damage...

The talent descriptions say that stun chance increases with Dex, and Dex increases accuracy without doing anything to physical power. Additionally, the advanced tutorial specifically mentions that some talents test acc vs. save for their status effects. The power an effect uses depends on the talent using it, while the save checked depends on the effect caused - for example, an Archmage's Wave and a Bulwark's Overpower both cause knockback, so they both check vs. physical save, but the former uses spellpower and the latter uses physical power.

Alright, just wondering.

And yes, I know about the whole magical effects can cause physical saves thing...

It amuses me that pretty much every class in this game will pump con. And they'll probably get thick skin, too.

Not dying is just too good of a benefit to pass up.

Con is One Stat to Rule Them All, well almost anyway...then again everyone need it because it involves not dying...although I think it might be possible for Temporal Warden to do with a little less though since TW has displace damage and damage smearing...

And of course, if you don't already have the tree for thick skin, you'll buy it from the trainer in Last Hope.

Because 15% resistance to everything is just too good to pass up.

Fished the game out of the trash for the third time, because I am nothing if not passive-aggressive. Upon Glidergun's advice, pumped dexterity and accuracy.

Noted that the ability that gives you perfect aim for two turns is described as raising your accuracy by 100.

Every single time I use this ability before using a stun, the stun succeeds, allowing me to Backstab the hell out of any and all boss enemies. Something to nerf in the next version, I suppose.

Alchemist is a really, really fun class.

Annoying: going to Daikara, running into Harkor'Zun and a pile of xorns at the beginning of a level, and losing two lives because your teleports keep putting you in the middle of big groups of enemies. But okay, that sort of thing happens. It's not like I didn't know the teleports were risky.

Very annoying: Later on, clearing out a level except for the snow giant village, and then having your teleport put you...right next to a big group of enemies in a disconnected room.

Goddamnit.

^ The maze isn't so bad once you begin to figure out the patterns. Sure, it's randomly generated, but since only one path can lead to the exit, proving that a certain path isn't that one path can make it highly unlikely that some of the adjacent paths are that one path (particularly if the path you've disproved doubles back on itself in such a way as to block off other paths from completing properly.)

What is wrong with just hitting "z" (autoexplore)?

That's what I do. If I found the exit I'd still probably explore the rest of the maze, to make sure I killed everything.

The problem with the maze is that it's boring. It's a bunch of bland dead ends, compared to the open rooms and fields of places like the Old Forest or the Daikara. I know about auto explore, but still. There's just no joy to be had in exploring every last nook and cranny for every last bit of exp and loot.

Meanwhile, the sandworm lair is currently my most favorite dungeon in the game, because I find the burrower mechanic to be quite interesting and fun.

Anyone have any advice on when I should enter the temporal rift?

I entered it at about level 18 last time and got my ass handed to me.

The Rift starts scaling from 16, though I would hold off until at least after finishing all the Tier 2 dungeons (Old Forest, Sandworm Lair, Maze, Daikara). More important is the kind of character you are - the first screen is deadly for melee characters unless you have a lot of temporal resist and have a lot of movement abilities. This is because all of the enemies have ranged temporal attacks and the area applies the "Zero Gravity" effect, which triples the amount of time it takes to move and causes melee attacks to do knockback. Archmages, Alchemists, Archers, and other ranged characters should have an easier time of it than Rogues and Berserkers.

After the first screen, you have to (separately) deal with clones of Ben Cruthdar the Cursed and Rantha the Worm with added temporal abilities, then fight the Chronolith: a Dual Boss that dies as soon as either of its halves does.

Well, my Wyrmic has Lightning Speed along with three quite effective ranged attacks, so I think he can do it.

Also he can summon spiders. That's pretty cool.
