Oz: The Great and Powerful

I can see what they mean, but one could argue that the apple killed her heart and amplified that sadness, which could have easily been fixed, so that she turned into a wicked witch that hates all beings. She was sad due to Oscar, got tricked by her sister and turned into a wicked person by the end.

How is the lion not sentient like the one in the story, or in the 1939 film? Maybe it's another lion, but if that's the case, how can that lion be mute and the other not talk?

Well.. I've heard of an Ox, a professor from Quox, no longer permitted to teach! Who has lost all powers of speech. And an Owl in Munchkin Rock, a vicar with a thriving flock, forbidden to preach! Now he he can only screech! Only rumors- but still, enough to give pause to anyone with paws. Something bad... is happening in Oz...

Something's always bugged me about that line: Quox was a character, not a place. He was a dragon that lived in one of the caves under Oz. His temper and pride got him in trouble with his grandfather, who was kind of a lord of dragons, and as punishment, he had to spend a few millenniums carrying travelers like he was a mule./geek mode

It can't be both? And besides, Baum never really gave two shits about continuity anyway,

Something tells me Baum didn't write Wicked.

I know, so I expect if he, having read Wicked up there, has any issues with it, it's hardly about them mixing up the name of a dragon with a place.

Oh, if it were the book, I think mixing up the name of a minor character from one of the later books would be the absolute least of his complaints.

God, I hate Wicked.

Okay, that's not entirely true. Mostly I hate how much people worship it.

I just hate the book. The musical's okay.

I only like the songs in the musical. Everything else doesn't appeal to me.

I don't much like the musical either. It makes the original book and movie so much more awkward and uncomfortable.

I just consider it an alternate universe.

Don't worry about it, neither of them are part of any Oz canon besides their own.

Try telling that to a lot of its fans.

Saw this movie yesterday. I think it should be required watching for anyone who wants to make a film that features children in a prominent role. When I saw the trailer, I was afraid China Girl would end up as The Scrappy, The Load, Tag Along Kid. She ended up being my favorite part of an already awesome movie.

Hey, look! Sequel rumors! Emphasis on "rumors."

Considering that Franco and Kunis were the ones least fit for their roles and that Guillermo knows his fantasy, I'd be perfectly fine with all three of these coming to pass.

I can believe that they'd do a sequel (after all this is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz) but another prequel to a prequel sounds a bit far fetched considering this movie didn't do that great finacially.

Of COURSE.

..... I.... they're going to do a prequel to this prequel!?!?!?!?

Watch Return To Oz. It's the Disney made sequel to the original film. It was made in the 80s and I'm pretty sure it made a big impression on American Mcgee. It has Ozma, the Nome King, Mombi, the Desert, Tik-Tok and so on. It's basically a fusion of the second and third Oz books. It even has the Gump.
