[up]That might be why only one strategy ever worked for me in Battle Races (eliminate the opponents one by one starting from the back of the pack)

@ Magcargo: Told ya. tongue

@ Demovere & Angel: Brilliant minds think alike, I see. I used the same strategy for Battle Races myself. grin

When playing through World Tour, the only races that really gave me a hair-pulling amount of trouble were the default races, which was due to the aforementioned Rubber-Band A.I. Everything else was a matter of knowing the courses inside and out, coupled with picking a character suited for the task, having a good amount of perseverance, and a bit of dumb luck.

Dumb luck probably accounts for about 90% of the Expert races I did. tongue I mean, even the Boost races, which have no items you can use to catch up if you fall behind, felt easier.

I think that's in part because one of the big things that makes Expert computers infuriating is that they are ludicrously effective with items and go after nobody but the player.

Though Battle Races are funny when you're in the back, since every computer player shoots backwards at you and they can be tricked into hitting other computers instead.

Heh, I know that's how I won a couple of my Battle Races. Hang back (but not too far) and snipe the CPU racers from behind as they end up wiping each other out.

None that I know of, sadly.

Mom picked this up for me earlier and, well... it's fantastic. the atmosphere, the music, the moves, the challenge, the control, it's all great. It's also very easy to learn.

I wanted a "Welcome to the Machine" level. I was disappointed that there wasn't.

I dislike Ring Races. So much.

Wow... A class is still a rather large jump in difficulty for regular races, but it feels much more manageable to me now. Probably helps that I've gotten starting boosts and drift boosts down pat, I can do the occasional risk boost when needed, and that despite my terrible luck at somehow absorbing every hit from enemy racers, I also have incredible luck nailing them back with blind fire. tongue

[up] They're not too bad - for me, anyway. Some of the tighter Ring Race courses need high handling characters (Dream Valley and Adder's Lair come to mind). With the more open courses (Rogue's Landing or Dragon Canyon), you'll want to go with someone with high boost to get you through the longer stretches quickly.

Now, if you were talking about Traffic Attack... T_T

[up]The blue cars. THE BLUE CARS.

Also, Pursuit can suck my dick. I hate it.

[up]Unlike every other World Tour event, Pursuit at least has no time limit - so you can slow down and take your time wearing down the tank.

[up]Yeah, I know, but still, THOSE FREAKING PILLARS.

Eh, once you figure out the pattern it doesn't usually be a problem unless the stage screws you over. I find its first attack to be harder to deal with than its later ones.

I just hate that I have to waste ammo destroying the pillars when I could be shooting the tank.

[up][up]I find that the only trip-up of its third-stage attack is having to slow down even more in order to dodge the barriers - its weak point stays open for the rest of the event by then, which I think is a fair tradeoff.

Pursuit is kind of annoying yeah.

But oh man, traffic attack. Gah so frustrating. Some of those drift challenges are the same way...looking at you S-rank Billy Hatcher level.

What are your favorite vehicles/forms in terms of design?

Car: Amy, Knuckles, Amigo

Boat: Gillius, Amigo

Plane: Reala, Gillius

I dislike Shadow's car. It looks like a giant walkie talkie and is just pretty ugly. I hardly ever use him, in fact he's probably one of my least used characters.

Wll since he was in the first game and his stage was absent yeah somewhat. But never being a big fan of him or considering him a major SEGA star I can't say I miss him.

Speaking of characters who didn't return from the first game, I hope both Ryo and Opa-Opa make it in as DLC.

Just cleared all the grand prix (again), unlocked Robotnik and Vyse (again) and gotten to Scorching Skies (again). Really, I seem to be having a much easier time clearing many of the events (except for Traffic Attack, naturally) - probably because playing this game on the higher difficulties has forced me to become more ruthless (ie. comboing enemy racers with one item after another, or sideswiping them to knock them into track hazards or even right off the course).

...Man, getting better at this game is making me feel worse as a sportsmanlike competitor. o_o;

It does have that Multi-Track Drifting thing going on, though. I mean, it's a tracked "car" that drifts just as well as all the others!

"I made it, I made it, I made it... NO! THAT CAR ONLY JUST CLIPPED ME! IT'S NOT FAIR!"

The worst were the side scrolling cars (I think they were the yellow ones?). The blue cars were alright, since you could always count on where they were going to be, but bam! You spend all your time focusing on the stationary ones and the tracking ones, and you forget where the other ones are going to be.

And on harder difficulties, it's basically "crash once or twice and you might as well restart."
