One would think that a picture of a Mind Probe would at least feature someone in the process of having their mind probed.

Shouldn't be hard to find better pics than what's currently there.

Agreed, that's classic JAFAAC

It's also not an example. It used truth serum IIRC.

Seconding the pull for not actually being an example of the trope.

Wait. There is a line in the movie where they called it a mind probe. So it's JAFAAC, but it is an example.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.

They call it one. However, the scene specifically drew attention to the whole needle aspect.

[up]That's why I say it's an example, but not a good one.

Reading the description, it says that there's a "no touching" aspect, implying it's some sort of ray or beam.

"Reading the description, it says that there's a "no touching" aspect, implying it's some sort of ray or beam."

This would be for TRS, but why? I've seen the term applied in works to things that have contact.

I interpret it as anything that involves a forceful scan of the mind, including devices, but that doesn't involve drugs or something that actually enters the body.

Anything to say about the picture someone added without posting it here?

Which is:

Don't understand why that was added with no discussion — pretty big link to this thread at the top of the article — but it's ok.

It's not perfect but it's a lot better than the old one that I made this thread for. Keep Until Better Image Suggested for the new pic.

I kind of prefer the one dsneybuf posted from the Avengers cartoon.

The Avengers pic is alright, definitely the best of what's been suggested.

My ideas for the caption:

"'Your compliance is unnecessary.'"

"'Scanning and replicating the human mind was the first thing I ever learned.'"

Also, if knowing the context helps someone come up with something original: Ultron decided to use SHIELD's missiles to destroy the world, but Maria refused to share the codes, so he probed her mind for them.

I like "Your compliance is unnecessary", punchier.
