I'm in, of course. I'd like to enter this time; however, in the event that we don't have a guaranteed minimum of three judges, I will drop out and judge instead.

You must agree, my plan is sheer elegance in its simplicity! My TumblrI'm really torn between entering and judging, but I think I'll judge and eat your babies.
Why are our conversations always knee-deep in Republican politics and Internet gifs?Hello, I'm here to sign in.

"Shit, our candidate is a psychopath. Better replace him with Newt Gingrich."Definitely signing up as a writer. Since I get most of my inspiration from songs, this should be easy!
I'm pretty much fucked now, aren't I?
Ohooo... I like the theme. Sign me up, baby.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaTotally want in on this. Already got a song or three picked out.

I'll sign up. I hope I'll actually have time to do it, mind. But, I'll work to the deadline.
EDIT - now I'm in trouble. I'm tempted towards some Johnny Clegg... But, I don't have much hope anybody will find it.

Make your hearth shine through the darkest night; let it transform hate into kindness, evil into justice, and loneliness into love.Signing in as an author. Third time's the charm, hopefully...
Signing up! I've had two ideas I could go with since the music theme started getting bounced around.
I'll confirm from above that I'd like to sign up as a judge, though I'll warn in advance that I'm not a music person.
I have to warn you that last time half of the stories were in present tense. You had said you have a peeve for present tense, so I'm just giving you an heads-up.

^, ^^: Does this mean I should write my story in past tense to avoid being marked down?
That's Feo . . . He's a disgusting, mysoginistic, paedophilic asshat who moonlights as a shitty writer—Something AwfulI would like to tentatively say that I'm in; in the last competitions, I just say "I'm in" and I committed. I'm avoiding that this time. Presently, I am not committed. If events go one way or another, I could go all in or drop out entirely.
Whatcha gonna do, little buckaroo? | i be pimpin' madoka ficsWell, it depends on how much that kind of subjective judging is allowed.
...If it is, I'd say it's you who needs a heads-up.
I feel that using lyrics is lazy; can I mark down a point or half a point for that?
The last battle's curtains will open on stage!
Greetings, Writers! Welcome to the Sixth TvTropes Writing Contest! Want to give yourself a challenge? Try something New? Show off your skills? Win the praise and respect of your peers? Just want to have fun? Here is a chance to try all of the above! Write your story for everyone to see and a few to judge and see how you fare with reviews and critique. Looking forward to it? Hope so, because the Sixth Tv Tropes Writing Contest begins now!
Rules
Theme:
Music. Contestants are to choose a song or piece of music and write a story based on that. Judges will grade this writing based on how well the story fits the music. Now this can actually be a bit trickier then it looks. Choosing a song like Gettysburg - 1863, The Devil To Pay, which is literally the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg told in song, will give you a ready made story that just needs some fleshing out. On the other hand, that really restrains your creativity and what you can do with your story. Coming at it from the opposite way you can do a story based on music without any song to accompany them. This certainly allows more of a write-whatever-pops-in-my head style, but when I hear The X-Files theme and I think spooky and mysterious, I better hope I can write something spooky and mysterious, and that the judges will agree with that sentiment. Both are totally acceptable and so is everything in between. With that said, do your best and have fun with it!
Judging
Judging is anonymous. When your story is complete, upload it to Free Text Host. Do not include your name anywhere in the document. Then you will PM the URL to the designated handler, jewelleddragon, who will in turn PM all the entries to the judges.
The stories will be scored by each judge out of 25 points according to the following scale:
Get it? Got it? Good. Now sign up and get to writing!
