My wife and I adopted an adorable kitten from an animal shelter shortly after getting married. That was back in December. He's been growing a lot since then.

I used to not like cats that much but now I realize how awesome they are. So much cleaner and less destructive than dogs.

Dusty's first birthday, as extrapolated from her shape and size and teeth and what she could do when we found her, is next week.

Am I weird for wanting to know how it would feel to be covered in kittens?

My 13ish year old cat has recently started sitting on the kitchen table and counters. I don't think she's done that for ages, and we've been finding her up on the tables pretty much at least once a day for a week.

No kurgy, that's not weird. Also my cats do that sometimes to (sit on tables and counters I mean)

It's just occurred to me that my cat has lived in three different decades. Wow.

It's a bit painful, since they're likely holding onto you with their claws. Seriously, if you stand still the kittens will try to climb you. Totally worth it though.

So my mom just told me that our family cat, Bob, has most likely passed away. He's 12-13 years old, hasn't been doing well health wise, and has been missing for 4 days now.

A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting at the computer, and thought I heard meowing sounds from my brother's game. About 10 minutes later, I noticed a tiny tiny little kitten sitting on the window sill. I called my brother in to see it, and he went out and brought it inside (it was about 7 or 8 pm, and dark and cold). When mum got home, she brought it over to our nan (she lives in a house nearby and used to own a pet shop) and she said that he was about 2 months. We put some signs up, but had to give the kitten to one of my friends, because my mum was scared that our cat would attack it. It was litter-trained and knew that shaking/rustling bag = food, so it was probably a pet.

It was kinda funny, with our cat. We introduced them, and the kitten made a noise, and Kat immediately hissed at him, which made him hiss at her, her hiss back at him and so on. And after we brought him over to my friend's, she spent the night sitting at my mum's feet, and when mum woke up in the morning, Kat was lying next to her. Normally she isn't like this, especially with my mum. Her normal interaction with my mum is sitting in front of her, with her back turned towards her, and staying like that until I come out because mum calls me to feed the cat or see what she wants.

We also noticed last Saturday that my cat had a little bit of swelling on her chin, and found that one of her canines was missing, so we went to a vet on Tuesday? I think (Mum was working or we would've gone earlier) and she was prescribed antibiotics. It sucks trying to get them into her. When mum gave her the second she started seriously drooling (apparently it's a reaction to unpleasant tasting stuff).

Anyone else have stories of trying to get pills into cats?

[up]No, but I once was dog sitting for a friend and had to give one of them pills. The trick my friend taught was wrapping it in bread or deli meat. That might work for a cat.

I will probably be getting a russian blue kitten (aka a breed of cat unlikely to bother my allergies) in a month. Still waiting to hear from the person again so it can be finalized.

No pills, but trying to give our cat fluid based medicine was a hassle.

He'd avoid eating it in his food, so we had to hold him against my womans chest as I tried to get the dose in his mouth.

Atleast we shouldn't need to go through that again any time soon.

I simply adore cats. Like, a lot. Petting cats always calms me down and I just really enjoy playing with them. I love dogs too and I'll happily adopt one when I have the income. But for now, I really love cats.

I had a Siamese that I found in the garage in 1994 when I was 7. Had her until September 2010, when she was having seizures and had to be put to sleep.

Currently, I have a Siamese (Luna), a ragdoll (Becker), and a Siamese/tabby (Colleen).

Luna is a total sweetie to me. She has an interesting appearance: her markings are mostly Siamese gray and black, but she has a few white splotches where true Siamese are all black, like on her face and paws. We found her as a kitten, and my sister pestered my mom into getting her. When we got her, she was starved and covered in fleas, and it took her months to even leave my closet.

Becker is pretty calm and lazy like an old cat. He has a quiet meow and a LOUD purr. He was a shelter pickup.

Colleen is obese and not right in the head. She hisses and snarls every time Luna or I get within 10 feet of her, but totally loves up on my mom. Until she turns around and bites down on my mom's hand like a piranha.

I don't know which one is mine/how that choice will be made. Except that it's not the girl because someone else has claimed her.

Speaking of the kittens, the lady sent me a more recent picture.
