I don't understand that reference.

It's a common cliche in anime, that of the random out of control truck that will run over and kill an important character to generate drama. It's so frequent Excel Saga did a parody of it in its very first episode in 1999.

Of course, the Street Fighter II anime movie established M. Bison as the truck driver, which would explain a lot.

We all know Ryu kicked the hell out of that truck though.

So basically, the way to counter that Rider is to summon Ryu (probably as Assassin, since he does use an Assassin fighting style, even if it's nerfed).

@Rin_Shadow_Giant: It won't manifest as Shadow Giant, simply because Rin is totally different from Sakura. Sakura's power can be manifested as Shadow Giants simply because Sakura's Origin (basically, elemental alignment) is very naturally suited in shadow magic.

The origin is not elemental alignment, not even close to that. That is a completely different trait.

Well, the simplest way I can put it is that it's something much more fundamental than an affinity and it will ultimately define who you are.

More like it defines what you are, rather than who you are.

Rin's elemental affinity is Average One, in other words the five elements of fire, water, earth, wind, and void/ether. Supposedly different departments of the Clocktower have practically gone to war with each other over getting an Average One to join.

Do we know Luvia's elemental affinity? I can't remember if it was said she was an Average One too, but I've heard that Waver said She was Earth in his spin off series.

Though a Rin Matou would have a different familiars than Sakura yes, because she doesn't have the Hollow/Imaginary Numbers/whatever-it's-called elemental affinity that resulted in them.

It's Imaginary Numbers, yeah.

Rin would probably be closer to a Marble Phantasm than the stuff Sakura does.

Evil Ryu also might qualify for Berserker.

Most Orochi characters as well.

Yamasaki and every Ninja in existence should quality for Assassin, alongside bo staff users as Lancer.

FGO has made it so that everyone who has assassinated someone qualifies for Assassin - even if they didn't carry out the actual assassination. See Smooth Criminal Cleopatra.

At least Super High School Level Assassin is responsible for someone dying. Jing Ke's famous for failing to whack a guy. That's just sad.

So, I'm back, and I have a new fic. Hopefully this one will continue, because I'm planning to update it every week. I'm taking whatever liberty with canon that I please, this being my retelling of Nasu's retelling of the Arthurian legend. Any thoughts are welcome.

Reality Marble for Rin Matou? Hmm, it's not a bad idea, I'll consider it.

And I suppose it fits Rin's version of the Shadow: either a sentient storm of cursed fire with a singularity at its heart (fire and ether/void), or a naked singularity floating in the air (ether/void). Well that's all the forms it's taken so far, I might come up with more.

Any suggestions on what this Reality Marble might look like? I won't consider a Marble Phantasm: AFAIK you have to have a special/unique link with nature to have that, and even with her connection/contract with Angra Mainyu I don't think that qualifies her for a Marble Phantasm.

... Who said anything about Rin Matou getting a Reality Marble? Marble Phantasm is a different thing, despite some similarities in mechanics; MP deals only in the "possible within the confines of The World's natural laws", whereas an RM specializes in a generally unchangeable pattern that nevertheless can break one or more natural laws of The World with impunity, with the only downside that it puts a huge drain on magical energy in proportion to the scale of the aforementioned violation of natural laws.

Except the problem with giving her Marble Phantasm is that even with her connection to Angra Mainyu, Rin Matou wouldn't have the link to nature True Ancestors have that lets them have Marble Phantasm. And I certainly doubt Angra Mainyu's all-consuming hunger (?) is something that would be in-line with natural laws. If anything, it's something that if allowed to reach a certain point could lead the World to unleash the Counter Force.

Reality Marble is the closest ability.

Angra Mainyu wanting to kill off humanity, however, is in line with what Gaia wants.

Nevertheless, I did not say she would have a Marble Phantasm, I said that her Angra Mainyu-given stuff would probably be closer to that than Sakura's shadowspam. Rin is also ridiculously talented as a magus and with her intellect, she'd likely be a significantly higher threat than Sakura was, as well as much harder to control (and Sakura was already hard to control).

Oh yes, unlike canon Sakura, even without going dark Rin has unknowingly started using Angra Mainyu's power to enhance her elemental attacks. She's by no means rebellious against Zouken - at least not yet - though she has made the same deal Kariya did, but unlike canon Sakura, she openly blames and actively lashes out against her sister for her fate.

Though, unlike canon Sakura, I guess Rin has somewhat more justification for doing so. Canon Rin was completely ignorant of what Sakura was going through, nor had she any say in Tokiomi's decisions. But while the former holds true for AU Sakura, AU Sakura is in a way responsible for AU Rin being stripped of her inheritance. After all, if she hadn't started studying magic on her own, Tokiomi might not have decided that a precocious and defiant child with a rare Sorcery Trait which is passed down would be more valuable than an equally-brilliant but less spirited child. Unlike Sorcery Traits, being an Average One isn't necessarily passed down after all.

Going back to the main point, Rin's personality, even bent to Zouken's will means she unknowingly embraces the dark power that's poisoning her soul. I've had to 'up-gun' Sakura to compensate, but even then Rin has an edge in raw firepower. Cursed lightning is not something to laugh at, seeing as those wounds need special attention - like Kirei's spiritual surgery - to heal.

EDIT: Angra Mainyu isn't out to destroy just Humanity. The mud that is its physical manifestation destroys ANYTHING it comes into contact with, or twists it.

Fact: Rin is not 'equally brilliant' to Sakura.

Rin is simply better in every way to Sakura when it comes to Jewelcraft. She is smarter, she is better tempered, she is stronger in mind, body and soul, she is more talented - Rin is everything that Sakura is, but better, and the trait of being an Average One gives her a very big edge when it comes to jewelcraft which, by nature, uses a great deal of different elements.

You need to come up with a better reason for Tokiomi to discard the better in every way child than "Sakura showed some promise". You need to go for broke and have Sakura display (even if it's just a fluke) some sort of excessive genius that made Tokiomi reconsider which girl to give to Zouken.

Because just showing that she wants to learn magic even if she has to do it on her own won't be enough - she's still inferior in every way to Rin.

Furthermore, Angra Mainyu is going to destroy everything, yes, but its main grudge is against the humanity that actually made it. It's called 'All The World's Evil', but it's more like 'All of Man's Evil'. While definitely an entity you don't want to fuck with...

It's especially suited to take out humanity, but it's not exactly built to take out the Types that will come in to destroy it once it tries to start targetting everything else in the world.
