I think it was a little hasty for calling, specifically for that reason, and there was just a bump for votes.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.I don't think this is safe to close yet. It was just over 2:1 and now it's under, and before that was way under. Could we reopen it?
Seems that I made a bad call here. Unfortunately, Crowners can't be re-opened (at least by me) so we have to find another way to go about this.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. We could ask Eddie to un-call the crowner.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think uncalling crowners is possible, but only through the admin. However, I'm not sure if the outcome will change.
I suspect that many people voted against because the suggested replacement was Ojou Laugh.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI notified the other mods about my mistake. We'll see what we can do.
My apologies for messing up.

Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Mistakes can happen. But AFAIK only The Great Eddie can uncall a crowner.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanDon't worry. The staff has enough on their hands that a couple of mistakes may slip by.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerUn-called.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThank you.
In the meantime, let's brainstorm some names. If the Ojou Laugh is not well-liked (I'm not particularly fond of it myself), do we have other ideas?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI'm not sure we should be too keen to keep just the word laugh in the title since the pose seems to be just as much a part of the trope.
We already established that the pose is not required. It's common, but not universal, and the laugh also can be used when the character isn't even visible.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. For some reason the crowner icon doesn't show up, and isn't caught in the filter.
Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. It's a buggie. It's come up before.
Any other name ideas? Noblewomans Ohohohoho?
...Wait, that's terrible.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI would prefer if the name didn't contain Japanese terms like Oyou; I don't think we can assume people actually know what that means.
This is a Japanese cultural trope. It ONLY occurs in Japanese or Japanese inspired works. Thus having a Japanese word in the title is perfectly acceptable as per our trope naming guidelines.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell, I never said anything about guidelines or acceptability.

The problem with giving Japanese specific tropes entirely English names is that they convince English speakers that they know what the trope is about and often times they cut out connotation from the terms. It seems to cause Trope Decay on true Japanese only tropes.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickAgain, Shrill Haughty Laugh is my suggestion.

I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. That's pretty good.
It's not necessarily shrill, though. Depends on the character and their voice pitch.
I wouldn't be against Haughty Oujo Laugh or something; this is supposed to be associated with The Oujo, anyway, so it's not like it's going to come up in Western media unless they're being animesque.
Calling someone a pedant is an automatic Insult Backfire. Real pedants will be flattered. Can we stick to English words?
Also, isn't this something that live action works in Japan would do?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid. We can, the question is if we should. And yes, live action works can do this, why is that relevant?

Crown Description:
Noblewomans Laugh is being misused for "noble women who laugh". It in fact describes a specific laugh ("O-ho-ho-ho!"), associated with the Oujo character type.
I was wondering that myself. The ratio's too small.
