Resident Evil: Retribution

It may be Guilty Pleasure of mine but the Resident Evil Film series has always been fun, on stop action even with all the Adaptation Decay but the trailer for the fifth film is out and like usual it looks fun, action packed and manages to bring back some dead characters from the previous installments including Michelle Rodriguez.

I hate the whole fucking series.

This post was originally longer, but I find it hard to articulate why.

I hate it too but it's like Transformers, it's pointless, mindless action put together without any fluidity. As long as I'm entertained I can focus my time on other films including great ones.

The movies don't even reach that level for me—they're not bad in an amusing way(and I got some enjoyment from the Transformers films even though they blew), they're just bad in a way to piss me off. The action sequences are the same old bullshit I've seen in Underworld and some other post-Matrix trash and the filmmakers' contempt for the games shines through with Mary Sue showing up anyone from the games.

Well I guess we have differing opinions and I respect that.

There were things about the 2nd film that I enjoyed (perhaps because I thought Nemesis was cool) but on the whole I can't stand this series.

Purely because I can't stand God-Mode Sue Alice who steals the thunder from all the characters from the games.

I love the series. They may not be very faithful to the games, or particularly scary, but even if you don't like it, you have to admit that it has some AWESOME action scenes. MST3K Mantra should really be applied a lot when watching movies like this and Transformers

I haven't seen all the Resident Evil movies but its not without reason. How can you compare some puny skin eating zombies with giant transforming robots? One's only dangerous because there are a lot of them, the other are dangerous because it takes a lot to just beat one without the help of other giant transforming robots. The zombies didn't sink an aircraft carrier by falling on it from orbit, they're automatically inferior.

Weren't they killing Decepticons with regular assault rifles and the like by the end of the second Transformers movie?

Meh.

I remember Megatron getting shot three times by Tanks/Sideswipe and still getting Bumble Bee's driver then surviving the air strike help the fallen with Prime. They were shooting the cons but I don't remember them killing them with anything less than multiple shots from modified RP Gs.

Alright.

So is this a sequel with flashbacks or something? I saw, in the trailer, Alice with slightly different hair in some sort of (seemingly normal, maybe pre-viral outbreak) neighborhood; I also remember hearing rumors of it being a prequel.

Apparewntly it will look into Alice's past a bit.

As long as she isn't the ONLY PERSON who can do anything competently, and as long as she doesn't get ALL of the CMOA's then it MIGHT be worth watching (the only scene i liked from Afterlife was Albert Curb Stomping her in the beginning... mmmm SO satisfying)

Yeah well seeing as this film has Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, Barry Burton, Carlos Oliveira (Back from the dead), Rain (Michelle Rodriguez)(also back from the dead) and Jill Valentine it seems Alice can't overshadow all of them.

Can't she?

Um... yes... she has so quite blatantly and DISGUSTINGLY on several occasions

Well at least there'll be mindless violence, explosions, slo mo and 3D to keep me occupied.

(Mind you I have a good taste in movies, this is just fun for me)

Meh. Don't see one reason why I should watch it. Pass.

If I ever become successful enough with my movie career, I'm going to make an adaptation series that is faithful to the games.

Hey, I can hope, you know.

Yeah, then people would finally realize the games' plot isn't much better than the movies'.

yeah, but it'd still be a step up, and the fans of the games would be happy. (at least slightly moreso than they are now at least)

Besides, as stupid as it is, I like the plot of the Resident Evil games

I wonder what would happen if Michael Bay was in charge of adapting Resident Evil 4.

For one thing, Ashley's ballistics would have a larger calibres.
