Is there like an easy guide to making characters, stages and whatnot? I've been wanting to make a game with this engine for a while now.

[up]There are tons of guides online, detailed tutorials on youtube and stuff... way too many for me to list. But I just can't put down the work to actually finish one.

I've made quite a few characters before, but almost all of them were Game Breakers, and as a result I was widely hated among the community. Then I decided to show the community that I wasn't just a Game-Breaker maker by making a "balanced" character (Dancing Banana), via KFM template then giving him some extra moves and stuff. At that time he was considered balanced with a pretty powerful AI, if a bit silly. Nowadays he's considered broken because his moves have little to no cooldown (I didn't know about cooldown then yet, lol).

It's easy to make a character, but it's much harder to make a "balanced" one (i.e. no cheap moves/abilities, no super-damaging attacks or super-tough defences, no invincibility frame spam, etc). Particularly because you need to keep testing it for infinite loop moves, damage dampening, etc.

About creating chars, the coding system is quite different from most code. You specify an action or event within a statenote , then you put in triggers. Basically the whole thing runs on lots of if statements. There's still quite a bit of code that I don't really understand particularly because they didn't do anything at all when I used them.

Edit: Apparently somebody tried to put 20-freaking-k into SaltyBet. NO. WAY. I thus had to put up a disclaimer on my website that my broken characters are not allowed to be entered into SaltyBet.

Okay, so, apparently there are some creators here, so, if anybody is still active in character creating, I still have the old Homsar files, so if anybody's interested in continuing him, you can grab the files. It's for MUGEN 1.0, and I've made it in a specific way so that Homsar's name will not appear mirrored when facing the other way.

Also, I've made him very floaty because Homsar, but if you think it really doesn't work, you can always change it and such. I'm not working on it anymore, so he's yours to modify as you think will fit better.

Also, the old WinMUGEN version, which has more attacks.

Just tested Homsar. His Z button (strong punch) hat throw can deal about a quarter of a normal character's max health if the opponent is cornered, and it costs no power. Otherwise it doesn't do that much. I'd make each hat "loop" hit once for decent damage each.

The alpha also has a falldown bug where he gets stuck in a fall state for a very long time. I think the winmugen one solved that though.

Now the main problem... I don't have much knowledge on the Homestar Runner series, so I don't know what kind of moves Homsar would have.

Currently in the process of making a new MUGEN character. Haven't touched MUGEN in almost 7-8 years, but it's time I brushed the dust off my hands because I just had the inspiration to.

The character was originally meant to be an April Fool's Joke character (and indestructible) but I decided to make them more... fun to play by giving them more moves (still being updated at my side, will take maybe a few days to weeks).
