I could care less how it looks so long as it works when I want it to. It only has one trigger and a safety lever embedded into the trigger itself.
That in trigger safety is a little unnerving at first especially if you are used to manual safeties.
Wolf: That certainly takes a lot of time and patience. It strikes as engineers doing shooting.

Who watches the watchmen? The only thing I don't like about the Glock is how it fits in my hand (well, the G17, anyway), the trigger's not an issue, nor is the lack of manual safety catch.
My personal preference would be a decocking DA/SA pistol with a nice smooth double action and a nice crisp single action. A decocking safety catch would be my second choice for a DA/SA pistol.
It's all a matter of what works best for the individual.
I do like the decocking and rolling firing pin block.
Who watches the watchmen?Random question.
How do M249 SAW and FN Minimi compare? They do look a bit similar and designed for similar purpose, if I'm not mistaken.

From the M249 light machine gun page on Wikipedia.
First goddamn sentence!
Schild und Schwert der ParteiI think there are some slight differences since the US Army had the Minimi redesigned for their specs.
"Yup. That tasted purple."....Derpity, derp.

Oh really when?Yeah, but doesn't really change the fact that it is the same gun with mods under several different designations as ordered by the US military, they're still produced by FN.

When in deadly danger, When beset by doubt, Run in little circles, Wave your arms and shout. The US Army and Marines added a top handguard, the ability to take STANAG magazines and rails. Latter more Picatinny rails, shorter barrels, an M-4 style stock were added.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48You can put STANAGs in the M249?
I've heard that before but how exactly do they like fit?
Anyone have a picture or?

Oh really when? There is a magazine port on the left hand side of the weapon. It loads in sideways.
Who watches the watchmen?Like where the belt goes?
You can just stick it in there?
Neat.
Oh really when?No a separate port. The magazine feeds in a bit lower and at an angle. See here
Who watches the watchmen? That's pretty cool actually. Are there any other belt feds that do that?
Oh really when?I think I do vaguely recall reading about another LMG(s) that could both belt and magazine feed but I can't recall which one(s).
Who watches the watchmen? The HK21 GPMG, normally belt-fed, can take magazines from the G3. Unsurprisingly, since they have a lot of common parts.
Well there ya go. I am almost certain there are a couple more examples somewhere.
Who watches the watchmen? There is the Ares Shrike 5.56 that has many flavors.
I hated STANAG mags on the 249, they jam, feeding blanks is a crapshoot and they don't hold enough for it's rate of fire.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48So if it's so crap why is it there?
For if you run out of belts in an emergency or?
Oh really when? Its the oh shit I am out of belted ammo. It isn't the best feed system and blanks on the m249 even belt fed work rather poorly. Its not meant to operate at its designed rate of fire so much as it is to help keep the gun in action. It can use STANAG compatible high capacity magazines like the Beta C though.
Who watches the watchmen? So hold on, if it can use the big magazines like Beta C, what's the point of a belt? Besides the feeding issues I mean. What's I'm basically asking is why have belt feds anymore?
Is there some sort of advantage to belt fed guns that I'm not catching or?
Oh really when?Belts come in 250 linked ammo and feed a lot more reliably and you get a better rate of fire off of the belt. Oh and most belts are not as cumbersome as the beta c sticking out of the side at a weird angle.

I lack the patience for that sort of sport. Reloading? Fine. Developing a custom load for your gun so that it's an accurate hunter? Fine.
All the effort to develop and hand-load to that precision? Sorry, not gonna be me.
I can certainly appreciate their craft, though.
