That is very cool.
I am still waiting for cheaper desk tops with easy 3d modeling like Sculptor in my reach so I can play with it.
Who watches the watchmen?3D-printed robotic birds of prey are undergoing trials
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Scaring real birds away from places where birds aren't wanted. A very clever use of robotics.
The future will look unrecognizable to anyone from the 1990s.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Man prints 3D miniature Castle - 3 feet by 5 feet - out of concrete in his back garden.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Bonsai: The ornithopter is a lot older then you think and folks who were kids in the 90's remember toys that are very similar to that robot. It really isn't that alien.
The writer of that IFLS article needs his eyes checked. There was nothing smooth about that castle the layer lines are every overt and would not be aesthetically pleasing to most people. Same reasons people use sheet rock and wall paper to hide interior walls and paste board.
Who watches the watchmen?Yea That castle doesn't look right at all. I can see some people liking it but b it's not my taste at all.
I'm baaaaaaackThe shape is good, but all those horizontal lines don't do it for me visually. Still, good to see 3D printing maturing ever more.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones! It's old tech though. This guy just managed to get his hands on a machine
I'm baaaaaaackWhen the scientists said that they could 3D print a house in less than 24 hours... Did they really mean it?
In an anime, I'll be the Tsundere Dark Magical Girl who likes purple MY own profile is actually HERE!Supposedly it was already done in China, but the house in question was very small, not full-sized. Still, it's an excellent step in the right direction.

I'm baaaaaaackDemand for 3D printing skills is accelerating globally
Heh, I sure hope so. I own 3D printing stock. While I lost 3/4 of my original profit, I'd love to see it shoot up.
Anyway, some takeaways:
Manufacturing has the highest number of positions for 3D printing and additive manufacturing skills.
Demand for freelance 3D printing and additive manufacturing expertise is flourishing globally.
Job boards entirely dedicated to 3D printing are being launched this year and growing fast. One of the fastest growing is 3D-Printing-Jobs.com, which just launched last May and already has dozens of open positions listed.
Indeed.com has 474 job positions open today that require 3D printing, nine of which pay over $130,000 per year.
It doesn't say how much the other 3D printing jobs pay, but it's looking like, at the moment, a growth industry. From an investing perspective, or a job-seeking one, it sounds great. I'd still like to see more on how 3D printing will transform our lives, but as an investor, I'd also like to make some $$$.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!First drivable 3D printed car made
It looks weird, but then, I imagine 3D printing will create a future with some rather strange-looking cars that drive perfectly fine, and are likely cheaper to buy, thus increasing their adoption. If they work well enough and cost less than cars made the traditional way, I imagine most people will set aside their pride and just buy the goofy-looking things to save money.
At the moment though, it does NOT save money:
Damn it. Part of the dream of 3D printing is epic amounts of customization, but another part of the dream is the idea of things costing a lot less money to make. I'd like to see both come true.

I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones!Eventually, it will. Calculators with the computing power of a four year old cost hundreds of dollars when first invented, now they cost mere pennies. Might take time, but it will happen.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.Actually it doesn't even look that weird. Just a bit rough around the edges.
no doors, weird side pannals that go halfway down the car, oddly angular design. No, it certainly looks weird.
Interesting development nonetheless. I'd like to see how they're going to develop it in regards to crash-testing.
I'm baaaaaaackLego-like modular components make building 3-D 'labs-on-a-chip' a snap
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Desktop device to make key gun part goes on sale in US
Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Well, time to find a way to deal with the fact that all manner of criminals can create guns easily. Like, making it legal for law-abiding citizens to do the same. Otherwise, let's face it, once 3D printing costs go down, untraceable guns can be made easily by whoever.
I'm up for joining Discord servers! PM me if you know any good ones! That isn't a 3d printer though. It is a cheap purpose built CNC machine.
Now mate that with a 3-d printer for the assorted parts and you can possibly fabricate just about everything short of a barrel.
