I've never heard the "I just met you and this is crazy" song. Should I turn on my radio or not? :P

I heard a cover of "Somebody That I Used to Know" before I heard the original. I don't really listen to pop radio a lot, I usually hear the songs on TV or from my friends.

Thanks to the dreadful quality of my town's radio, I haven't listened to a music station in years—I live & die by the iPod, and am too cheap to spring for XM. Factor in that I rarely watch network TV, and it'd be easier to list the popular or "ubiquitous" songs that I have heard.

In fact, I just checked the Billboard 100. If my wife hadn't bought Adele's album, there would literally be not a single song on it that I've heard, or heard of. Feels like some weird kind of achievement.

[up]As I've said, I didn't hear Rolling in the Deep until I saw the video on Great American Country. The local pop station NEVER seemed to play it, yet they'd play far lower charting songs like "Tonight, Tonight" or "Pumped Up Kicks" every damn time my sister turned on the radio.

[up]You poor, poor soul.

[up][up]Hmm, where do you live? My local pop stations (the NJ/NY area has too many of these) played it all the time when it was on the charts.

Finland. What reaches our radio streams to go with the local music is basically the cavalcade of the top of USA and European charts. Adele sounds like a name to know but I'm pretty sure I've missed every instance of her songs in the radio.

The only Red Hot Chilli Peppers song I have ever heard in full is "Real Men Don't Kill Coyotes" though I heard some of that "What I've got you gotta get put in ya" song thanks to The Simpsons.

[up] I take it that you have never listened to a commercial rock radio station in the last decade or so then - basically, if you take an RHCP best of, a Pearl Jam best of, and maybe Nevermind by Nirvana, put them all on one playlist and hit shuffle, you will have simulated that experience.

[up]There isn't one where I live but I listen to streaming services a lot and none of their hits have shown up.
