1950's: Elvis Presley
1960's: The Beatles
1970's: Black Sabbath
1980's: Guns N' Roses
1990's: Faith No More
2000's: Disturbed
2010's: Pending. So far the Rival Sons seem pretty cool.

Gonna go in reverse order here:

  • 2010s: Too early to tell, plus I can't think of anyone who debuted this decade who I've heard.
  • 2000s: Cage The Elephant. Best rock band in a long time.
  • 1990s: Nirvana. Because I'm cliché like that.
  • 80s: They Might Be Giants. Wonderfully weird, masterfully musical.
  • 70s: Electric Light Orchestra. Some of the most wonderful, best produced music I've ever heard. Especially their A New World Record album.
  • 60s: The Beatles. No question. Runner ups are The Who and Simon And Garfunkel, though.
  • 50s: Chuck Berry, though Elvis Presley is a close second.
  • 40s: Hmm...well, to be honest, I don't know much 1940s music, or too much before the '40s either, so I'll need to think about this.

Insert witty and clever quip here. My page, as the database hates my handle.

Not sure about much before the late '50s, but, I guess these will do. Note that I'm going by their most active or crucial periods:

'60s: The United States of America *

'70s: This Heat or Wire *
'80s: Coil *
'90s: Swans or Bügskull *
'00s: Animal Collective *

Mind you now, this is just how I'm feeling in the moment, and excluding many bands for whom I hold much affection, some more so than some of the ones that I have listed, but these are the ones, I feel, that most fit their respective eras.

I'll hide your name inside a word and paint your eyes with false perception.
