Way to deliberately hold characters back for DLC, ArcSys. Totally helping its and your reputation there.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughOkay watching story mode I'm not sure how people are going to feel about it.
from Ky implied to having gear cells, Sol turning into Sonic and riding a rocket,, I-no barely doing anything, some hilariously narmtastic moments, the somewhat cliche and anticlimatic ending, boring villains, and most of all virtually NO FIGHTS I can see this getting a mixed reaction.
Bedman is cool though.

Well, it ended on a total sequel bait cliffhanger with a shitload of unanswered questions. Of course.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...Somehow, it feels more satisfying than Chronophantasma's ending though.

"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyReally not.
It's something.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I felt kind of underwhelmed in a way. Like the presentation was great but Overture is a good indicator of what you're getting.
That's actually a good analogy, it really does feel like Overture at many points.
There's also absolutely zero gameplay...on bright side, there's actual animation.
It was alright, kind of annoyed by the cliffhanger...and unanswered fucking plot points.
And like CP, all of the non-relevant characters got shafted, huzzah.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Johnny was cool though THERE IS HOPE
But he didn't DO anything, it's such a cocktease.
Chipp tells him to let him take care of Bedman, then Chipp just jobs. Come ooonn.
I hated that shit with Azrael, fuck son.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.He kinda helped Leo against Bedman though, and he even got a new Overdrive.
I still need to form my opinion on the story itself, but I'm not totally against the story having no gameplay segments, especially after playing Reloads painful story mode. I do think it would've been better if it had been told in the form of anime cutscenes.

"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterI honestly think that this may have been a script intended for an Overture Sequel that never got made, and was just put into a fighting game. Hence why the side characters get so little screentime or any real plot relevance, and there's situations that would really suit Overture's gameplay.
All in all, it was stupid, poorly thought out, contains alot of Narm moments, has poor villains, and wasn't even finished... And yet I had alot of fun watching it. Just the characters are so enjoyable to watch, and the silly moments being so much fun to see. Especially stuff like Gabriel kicking all kinds of ass, Ram, Elf and Sin's party, Sol riding on a missile, and Ky and Dizzy's reunion. And honestly, the presentation was excellent, and is a wonderful blend of the visual novel style with fully cutscenes. There's alot to dislike, but it's wrapped in a really nice layer. I'd be interested to see more from future games.
However, where the hell is Big Blast Sonic?! I want that full song so much!

A corpse should be left well enough alone...Reload story was fun for me, minus some of the obscure requirements. The time loop 3rd path with Axl was actually kind of neat and the differing conditions + cool intros made it fun.
Like I'm fine with hidden path requirements so long as they make sense and you're correctly clued in as to what to do to earn them(say, the character going OH BETTER MAKE THIS QUICK AS I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF TIME! for time limit branch requirements). It's pretty frustrating when it there's like zero way of knowing or indication on how to reach it.
Some of Reload's requirements were just torture though. Such as "X character can only be hurt by Overdrives", or "Fight this enemy with draining health", or "Fight That One Boss while she's impervious to all of your attacks except for Overdrives!" Shit like that just really hampered my enjoyment of the game.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterI see someone doesn't like challenge <_< Okay the overdrive ones were kind of annoying(like that Jam vs Robo Ky one).
Might have to go back and look myself.

Lampshade Hanging: It's a lifestyle.Oh well.
"Tell them to shut up and have some faith in me." - dead flashback guyFinished Xrd's story mode today. What can I say about it?
I most certainly enjoyed it. There's plenty of mysterious, unanswered plot pints ala-Blaz Blue, and that does keep the ending from being as satisfying as it could be, the lack of gameplay can possibly take you out of it, and it is super-corny at times.
With that said, as someone who enjoys investing in these characters and this world, I enjoyed the developments revealed in this plot as well as it's character interactions very much.
I'm really not fond of that Justice redesign though. It fits better with the massive size it's at sure, but if ever Justice were to return (which she...or "it" since it's just a body without a soul at this point...probably will), I'm hoping for a return to the original size and design.
