So Yuri Lowenthal is back, but not as Sin, but as Bedman.

On the bright side, Steve Blum seems to be Sol.

Or not, seems to be Keith Silverstein according to some people.

Also, none of the Overture cast are voicing their characters; Sam Regal is Ky.

And man, I hope people appreciate Patrick Seitz 's godlike Ragna after this.

It seems to be a similar case to Fate Zero where the original cast are in, but not as their original characters. Liam O Brien is Axus, for instance.

I hate it when a series does that.

Holy crap, Ky is literally Flynn now.

It's a shame they didn't get Baker back as Sol, just to make the connections even more obvious.

Now to post my first impressions on each voice one by one. That's what everyone's gonna do, right?

Sol - They definitely took a different voice direction than what I was expecting; characterizing him as a lot gruffer and more vicious than Troy Baker's stint as him, who portrayed more of his lazy ass side. Not the best, but definitely something I can get used to.

Ky - As said above; Ky is basically Flynn. The only issue I have is that it's a massive jump in voice-difference from Liam O'Brien to Sam Riegel. The former made him sound more like a tired adult, fitting with Ky's story in Overture. In some of Sam's lines; I feel like he's still channeling a bit of Liam's interpretation. All in all though, Sam still sounds great as ever, and I'm okay with it.

Sin - Great so far. He sounds like the Kid Hero, exactly how it should be.

May - May's one of the better voices here. I think that they didn't forget that May is basically over 18 come Xrd, so as a result; they chose not to go overboard with a high-pitched, cutesy voice, and instead gave her more believable levels of cute. Good stuff.

Millia - Tara Platt does good. Nothing much else to say here.

Zato - Whoever it is, he sounds MMMMMMMM-sexy.

Potemkin - Not as deep to my liking, but he's a-okay otherwise.

Chipp - Awww, I was hoping for a deeper voice. He's probably not Todd Haberkorn, but he sure as hell sounds like he's channeling Todd Haberkorn. Another just okay voice.

Venom - Sounds more high-pitched and throaty than I expected. People were citing Venom as one of the worse voices in this dub, and I can see why. Reception would probably be better if he was given a deeper VA like Travis Willingham.

Axl - People weren't kidding when they said Axl was perfect. His tone, volume and accent are all exactly how I imagined them to be. Nice job Liam!

I-No - I only had a problem with a few of her lines, which made her sound more "snobby rich person" than what I imagined. But other than that, nothing much else to say. She's okay.

Faust - I would've loved if the VA just screamed like a homeless man off his pills for this one, especially for "GOING MY WAAAY!!!" but he focused more on the silly accent. Oh well.

Slayer - Now presenting Sean Connery as Slayer! Seriously though, he sounds great. I just had to hear him say "Excuse me!" in his throw along with his defeat quote and I knew he was perfect.

Bedman - Sounds like standard Yuri Lowenthal, only really fast. That alone gives the character a lot of distinction in his voice and makes him sound good.

Ramlethal - "I'm falling." Let me be the odd one out and say she sounds fine. I also kinda like her translated lines.

Translation - The translation, I think, is perfectly fine. Everything so far has their original meaning, and while there a few iffy lines here and there, most of it sounds natural in English.

Oh, and the translation team better not cut the Library again. It was bad enough when they did it to Blaz Blue, but with this, it's filling in the blanks for games released more than a decade ago, one of which (Overture) isn't as well known and doesn't have any real re-release.

According to this forum page, a dev team member from Aksys confirmed that the translated Library mode will be included through a Day 1 patch.

Well, they brought in Liam and Yuri, but did not get them to their old characters. Also, Liam is apparently doing Axl now.

Hikaru Midorikawa + Yuri Lowenthal. Well, they've done Hayate together...

I think they brought in quite a bit of League Of Legends VA's here. Let's see, there's Shen (Sol), Katarina (Millia), Braum (Slayer), Mega Gnar (Sin), Yasuo (Axl, formerly Ky), Sona/Janna (Ram)...

For funsies, anyone notice that there are musical nods in the game's English dialogue too?

These voices aren't so hot compared to BB. Venom sounds like a snake, it's lame. Overture's V As for Sol and Ky I liked more.

Axl and May are the best and the only ones I prefer over their JP V As so far, Sin and Faust aren't bad either. Kind of disappointing though, I really don't like I-no's.

Bedman seems really interesting, what's everything we know about him? I think he's an assassin for the Ameri-excuse me A COUNTRY's president, possibly a relative.

Gah, must resist the temptation to buy the Japanese version. I've got a pre-order of the American LE waiting, and I gotta save mah fookin' money.

His English VA is really good, but Ram's is so inconsistent it's annoying.
