Needs an Image: Big Good

The point I'm trying to make is that when I think of Gandalf, it's not Big Good that comes to mind it's You Shall Not Pass!, The Obi-Wan, the Old Master, etc.

The trope image should primarly represent the trope, first and foremost. If it dosen't it might confusse pepole who just stumble upon it.

Putting this into the hat not because I think it's great (although, hey, not bad), but because I'd like to steer the suggestions more towards "leader" and further from "ponies":

Yes. The trope image, not the character in it. We're allowed to have trope images that aren't actually examples in context, but look like one on the page, and this is pretty much the same. If we can find a good picture in which Gandalf appears as the Big Good, then it doesn't matter that he is (supposedly) better known for other tropes.

Although that particular image isn't great, especially with Eomer helping steal the spotlight.

I agree. You may associate Gandalf with You Shall Not Pass!, but unless in the Big Good picture he does that pose and speaks the phrase, that association is irrelevant.

What does that depict?

A horde of angels, apparently; I tried to use "angels" as a shorthand for "good". The lights emitting from the big guy help, too.

I don't like the glowy man. For one thing all the people behind him seem terrified of him from the way that they and the horses are recoiling from him. For another he just looks demonic to me with the red robes and the way he's glowing.

For the first point, I think it's quite clear that he's leading an army; for the second point, yeah it's creepy. But I find angels creepy in general, so.

I'm kinda meh on it.

This picture I think demonstrates the trope better, it's clear she is unamigously (by any standard) "good", and relative to the clouds and the sun "big".

Hmmmm...not bad, but we'd need to get permission.

Okay, I just got out of playing Skyward Sword, so I probably have a bias, but I think this image◊ might work well for Big Good.

(Preferably after being changed to more fitful proportions and possibly with a clearer image found, but that general image, yes.)

What's your point?

The image shoudl exmplafy Big Good, it should be grand bright, and leave no doubt that the person depicted is a Big Good. I am not sure that the image dose it. It's a great image...I just don't think it fits.

It depicts a powerful authority figure unquestionably on the side of good leading various different races and in game, is doing so in direct opposition to the Big Bad. I think it fits pretty well.

It feels that way in cotext, but would some one whose never palyed the game or knows nothing about Zelda at all get that feel from it?

"Unquestionably on the side of good"? I don't think so. Also, he is wanting the Big Good image to have some glowy righteousness, which is understandable.

Would someone who's never watched Friendship Is Magic understand right away that she's everything the Big Good trope describes from your images?

I like to think so yes (This is the one I'm backing primarly btw)
