I'm just gonna sit back and be non-judgmental until the reviews come in. If the trailer makes this movie look horrible when it's released, I still not gonna have an opinion. Remember last time with Tangled? Horrible trailer, excellent movie.
The only thing that was changed about Tangled to make it "Dreamworks-y" was the marketing. It was the same movie, just promoted in a way that might make boys interested (because they totally lost that audience with Princess and the Frog).
And Rebochan, Mulan had a love interest.
I'm ignoring the direct to video sequel for Mulan, because the love interest in the original film was really downplayed. The pitch for this movie sounds like they tacked a guy for the heroine to fall for in place of the original story, where she does everything for the love of her sibling. Unlike Rapunzel, The Snow Queen wasn't a romance so throwing another wise-cracking love interest into things is more problematic.
Honestly, everything about that storyline is paint-by-the-numbers, so I'm rather disappointed because The Snow Queen is a story with a lot of potential. It sounds like it will be generic at best, and a sad attempt at a Dreamworks knock-off at worst.
As for Tangled...okay, I realize they probably had an issue due to the violence, but I was a bit disappointed Flynn didn't get his eyes gouged out like in the original story. Only in that fairy tale is a fatal stab wound a downgrade
She still has one. And...he's not really all that downplayed, either. It's just that he thinks she's a man for most of the movie.
Don't ask, don't tell, what goes on in that army then...
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."Guys? It's a summary of the basic premise. Nothing more.
Looking for some stories?Well, it is Monday. (Tuesday?) Someone had to get in the scheduled panicking.
I know some people hate the whole "Disney sidekick" phenomenon, but aside from the sidekick-itis Pocahontas had, I'm usually pretty cool. Disney's brand of sidekicks usually manage to be entertaining, and they seem to have figured out how to hit that "not annoying" sweet spot.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaQuestion time! So are Anna and her sister, the snow queen, royalty? How did Anna's sister become the snow queen? Is this curse placed on Anna going to slowly strip her of human emotions or is it killing her? Will the snowman and reindeer talk? Will Anna find a way to save her sister? will the snow queen get an extremely kick-ass villain song? When will character designs be released?
I think maybe the evil mirror from the story will turn Anna's sister into the snow queen like how it made Kai mean in the story. The snowman will probably talk but not the reindeer.
1. Not enough information.
2. The mirror would be a good way to do it.
3. Considering that they've made Gerda and Kai into one character, I'm guessing the former.
4. The snowman will probably talk, the reindeer probably won't.
5. Duh.
6. It's Idina Menzel, how could it not be kick-ass?
7. Maybe early next year or late this year, if we're lucky.
Looking for some stories?Got some details on Snow Queen from this Wreck It Ralph preview article
http://www.firstshowing.net/2012/an-early-look-at-wreck-it-ralph-new-footage-plot-points-more/
Sounds like they're mixing the Snow Queen with Kai.
even more details revealed in this article. So the Snow Queen's name is Elsa, the snowman's name is Olaf, and the reindeer's name is Sven. It also discusses how the landscapes are inspired by Norway.
D23 is in September right? Could we expect to read more info or see some pictures by then?

Yes, there are plans for a Frozen presentation at Destination D in a couple weeks. Though we might have to wait for next year's Expo to see the really big guns as Destination D is more history focused: This year celebrating 75 years of Snow White and the Animated Features Canon.

Either way, I can't wait. With the setting inspired by Norway, it's guaranteed to be, if nothing else, pleasing to look at.

Looking for some stories?Sigh...so, the story is still a muddle, but we've still got talking animal characters. It's like the Dork Age is back in full swing.
Counting our chickens before they hatch?
I'm having to learn to pay the priceUh, no one has said anything about them talking. And I think the plot is becoming less of a muddle.

Looking for some stories? Are you surprised? For some reason, this fandom is much quicker to judge things than most others.
Yay! It's Tangled all over again!!!
Please note that Disney has added sidekicks to the addaptations before without it becoming a mess The Frog Prince had no sidekick character, but I still think Ray is one of the best characters in that movie next to the lead three (close tie with Charolette who also didn't have a counterpart). As for Composite Character... You know there were two genies in the original Alladin fairy tale right? I think one worked a lot better.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.
Not to mention that the original Aladdin takes place in (In Name Only, but still) China.
I'm having to learn to pay the priceWith a good sidekick, you never really realize they're a sidekick until the story's over. Or even if you do, they're compelling enough that you don't care.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaUm...what? It's painfully easy to tell when a character is a sidekick. Main character's best friend, who goes with him on the adventure = sidekick. I'm not sure how you wouldn't realize that until the end of the film.
In terms of the role they fill in the film, though. Some sidekicks are more obviously "sidekicky" than others, while others feel more like a traditional foil or simply a co-protagonist during the story. Not all characters leave that sidekick aftertaste.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI think that in recent years, the term "sidekick" has become somewhat derogatory. It implies that a character is annoying and only in the story for comic relief.

And I was one of those people who didn't even like Shrek.
