[up]Or screw Kristoff. I've seen a couple of grossly-overrated high-school Kristanna fics in my time.

I'll buy that offa you.

And only one ends on a happy note!

Pretty face.

[down]What could be there to say? The two are a package deal.

i have never read a fic that had Anna in highschool without Elsa being somewhere else.

They do have medals for almost, and they're called silver!

Shitty standards, because you're missing out on some really good fic.

Look, I'm not a fan of AUs in the first place, but High School AU is a special kind of awful. Why would anyone want to Mundananize the characters? I think fanfic authors just do it because of Write What You Know, but frankly, I don't really think high school deserves to be romanticized like that. My high school years were pretty crappy.

I mean, you can like whatever kind of fanfics you want, but my stance on AUs is pretty firm.

I actually have an AU in mind once I finish the first one (probably by the year 2100). It'll take place in the Next Sunday A.D., play hard and loose with character-counterparts, have robots and martial arts, use a cripplingly tiny amount of magic, and literally the only tie it'll ever have to the original story will be Elsa's detached soul.

[up]Yeah, that's precisely the kind of AU I don't care about. No offense. Just not my personal taste. "Has nothing to do with Frozen except maybe one thing" doesn't sound super interesting to me.

I've got fanfics for Frozen, Spectacular Spider-Man, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro the Dragon.

...okay, yeah, I can only think of one AU fanfic where Elsa keeps her ice powers. Most give her various disabilities (selective mutism, blindness) or different powers (technopathy, the ability to see other universes).

On the other hand, my fanfic has Elsa with ice powers. tongue

Whatever your feelings about high school were, I likely never experienced them. I was mostly too shy to be bothered.

I only got one cup though...

You know, of all the things Frozen as been crossovered with in fandom, I still think the best ones are the ones with Captain America The Winter Soldier.

Come to think of it, those two fandoms are extremely close to each other. Why do you guys think that is?

People just really like Steve and Bucky having an estranged brotherly relationship (although "estrangement" is a bit too light a term in this case), sorta like Anna and Elsa's.

Unless if that question was rhetorical, which in that case I will go hang my head in shame.

Folks can't resist the "Winter Soldier" pun. Along with yes, Cap and Bucky's relationship mirroring that of Anna and Elsa.

Wait, how is Steve's and Bucky's relationship even remotely similar to Elsa's and Anna's?

  • Steve is the perfect, morally correct idol of the Marvel universe. Anna is flawed, being overly reckless and marrying a stranger.
  • Bucky was a great guy until he got captured by Hydra and brainwashed into being a mindless slave. Elsa had an out-of-control power that hurt people, so she ran away of her own free will due to her emotional issues.

Are any two people who have an estranged relationship automatically similar to Elsa and Anna now?

[up]You'd know better than to underestimate the logic-leaping ability of a fandom.

At least the relationships run along (even slightly) parallel lines in that the two were both separated emotionally and physically for an extended period of time. The Kill la Kill fandom is often amicable with the Frozen fandom for similar reasons.

Speaking of anime-stuff... JAPAAAAN!!!

[up][up]Steve and Anna are the idealistic, raring to keep fighting, never stay down for long kind of guys. Bucky and Elsa are the more pragmatic, highly dangerous, hurting people without realizing it, don't know how to interact with people kind of guys (gals?). It's not one-one but it's a parallel worth noting.

And once the Frozen Fever short finally airs, it would be officially too late for anyone or anything less than a cataclysm to stop its prominence.

I can't wait.
