I appreciated how the third one made the Aliens a bit tougher, moreso the way they are in the movies. Interesting combat and some good scenarios, although the campaign was lacking and ended up being a little too arcade-like. I also disliked how, with the inclusion of a new combat system, the Alien campaign gave you three Predators to fight and two of them were arbitrarily superior to you in combat.
With all the new mechanics, it would've been the perfect time to add more actual Alien vs. Predator action from the Alien's perspective. Stealth kills, intense melee, all that. But with how things panned out, the combat system was kinda useless for the Aliens. The Marines were easy pickings and the Predators were too few, far between and overpowered for it to really apply.
So many interesting things could've been done that weren't. Across three games, we still haven't had an Enemy Mine situation where an Alien accidentally saves you from a Predator, or something of that sort. Rebellion should've aped more from the Av P 2 campaign. Alternatively, imagine the Av P 2 campaign with the new game mechanics. That would be pretty intense, especially given that Aliens are deadlier this time around.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I don't think the OP was specific with which Av P game. You're welcome to talk about it, I guess.
Only played Av P 2. Many a pulse rifle clip emptied out because of cat scares and only dealing with a single xeno.
And much gleeful laughter at dismembering humans...

Hmm, I think I'll get the 2010 game once Steam sales start, it seems pretty cool. Always wanted to actually play out an Av P scenario.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I picked up the third game for the 360 for ten bucks, figured "what the hell, could be fun".
Played the Aliens campaign, and it was pretty fun. Running on the roof never got boring and screwing around with the humans was fun. I admit, I missed not having more Predators to fight but their battle was interesting.
Then I played the Predator missions. And damn the change was noticable right away. Playing as an Alien made me forget just how many of the fuckers are around in missions all the time. Funny note, I almost never used the Plasma Caster. I hated how much energy the thing devoured.
And then I turned to the Marines...and was almost at once screaming for Night Vision. Cause it was actually scary how the dark screwed with me. I was checking every last corner and the roof every second to make sure no Alien sneaked up on me. And the facehuggers almost gave me hives every time I came across an Egg. The last mission with the Marine was cool though, the Smart Gun kicked all sorts of ass
It's on my wishlist on Steam. Played a demo. It was awesome.
Troper PageYeah, the plasmacaster in AvP 2010 is a lot less effective than in AvP 2, seeing as you no longer have the energy sifter to give you infinite energy.

'twas brillig.I'm liking how aptly horrific this game sounds, especially for the puny humans. I know what my first Steam Christmas purchase shall be (when it goes on sale).
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter! No one played the AVP game on the first Xbox? I did and it was a pretty good game, I remember playing the Beat 'em Up but that was a long time ago.
^^ The first game is on Steam too. The Marine campaign in that one is infamous for a very good reason.
'twas brillig.Nice, I'll have to pick that up as well.

Since we didn't have a thread on these games, I figured "Why the hell not?"
Most of my experience with them is with the 3 PC FPSes, with the first two games being some of my favourites in the genre. The 3rd was... lacking, but still a decent game, in my eyes. And of course, multiplayer is always amusing. ...Assuming you turn the smartgun off.
Currently playing through AvP 2, with just the Marine campaign left.
'twas brillig.
