Generally speaking, yes, I agree. One must be confident that the things one writes is, if not necessarily good on its face (no need for narcissism), then at least possesses the reasonable possibility of being executed effectively.
I am now known as Flyboy.I don't get it. Are stories about women going insane and killing people all that common? Would swapping the gender around be a meaningful subversion? This baffles me.
yey- I don't either.
- Not in any respectable part of the literary sphere.
- No.
- Me too.
It makes sense if you're familiar with dragonzordablahblah and his apparent fetish for writing about women going insane and killing things and the trauma they go through.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.I mean, I'm separating whether a premise is feasible from the warped worldview of the writer itself.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Maybe Dragon was exposed to some Ludovico Technique variant in which Elfen Lied is played ad nauseum until the subject starts believing that this is the only form of entertainment there is.
And better than thy stroke; why swellest thou then?Let's not Internet Cold Read the guy. He asked a question, it's been answered.
Nous restons ici."Familiar" is a bad horrible word for that.
...
I am... aware of it.
And I still don't understand it. Nor do I have any inclination to attempt to understand it.
I am now known as Flyboy. The point is if the writer can't have confidence in himself to decide his own setting, then not much can be done.
If he just thinks a blatant gender flip suddenly makes all of that 'okay' somehow, though, then thats wrong. Not that he doesn't have the right to write fucked up shit, but being Equal Oppurtunity Evil doesn't make it any less fucked up, especially if its token.

These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them. But I do actually hate Elfen Lied.
Teens dress as Batman to catch pedophiles; cops not impressedThe question has been answered, and as amusing as y'all may find it to take jabs at the OP, That's not what we provide these forums for.
Locking it up.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.
To be quite honest, there's a market for what he writes too. We don't need to like them, but they're out there.
Some of them are even semi-respectable, like James Patterson.
