Same school? How odd.
This is really disheartening.
Although one suspect has been arrested, students are reporting shots near Torgersen Hall. Two people are known to have been shot.
Unconfirmed reports that one officer is dead.
Two people now confirmed to be dead. The shooter is still at large.
Shots fired outside Johnson Hall according to a 911 call.

There's unconfirmed information that there has been one person arrested, and there is another being chased by police.
EDIT:Well, apparently there is no one in police custody right now.

Student Center is under lockdown. No one is getting in or out of the building. A SWAT van has been parked outside. FBI agents storming campus.
Aside from that, there are a lot of conflicting reports.
EDIT: Police are interested in a maroon Mitsubishi car, not sure if that is related to the incident.

Straight up bad luck for lightning to strike twice like that..
It probably wasn't bad luck. I think if it's two gunmen it probably has a reason.
Please. When I first this thread in the OTC list, I was like "Who the hell makes a thread about that shooting after all these years??"
And now I realize, it IS another one.
May God help us all.
It was an honorThe people you mention all have guns or are surrounded by security. If you want to pop off a couple dozen rounds into some authorities (like teachers), and not get shot at you need to go to a gun free zone.
Sex, Drugs, and RationalityThe people who go postal don't go postal on those whom some armchair wannabe Stalin pegged as Enemy Of The People, they go postal on people who pissed them off. Like, random folks at school or workplace.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"I'd prefer people not go postal in the first place. On anyone. I mean, I have fantasies of some hero spraying a couple rounds in Westboro Baptist Church, but even then, just so scare them, not actually to kill them.
It was an honorPeople don't go crazy in a rational fashion.

If we disagree, that much, at least, we have in commonAs Terry Pratchett so often points out, the ones that do are the worst of the bunch.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.Ahem, back on topic. As far as I can tell, this happened at a traffic stop and has only affected two people. Reports are sketchy, but it seems at least plausible that someone shot a police officer because he/she caught them doing something illegal, and perhaps a bystander got caught in the process. At any event, this doesn't feel like a mass shooting, more like criminal behavior. The fact it happened at VT is probably a coincidence.
"We learn from history that we do not learn from history."I'm sad about the bystander.

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.Heh heh, I was curious if you'd notice that.
"Atheism is the religion whose followers are easiest to troll"So, this isn't a copycat or a 15-minutes-of-fame-seeker? That's ... a good thing, in this instance, right?

I don't think I saw a pre-existing thread on this. If there is one, I do apologize. Lock this.
From CNN:
From the campus website:

Shots fired in the performing arts building according to the feed I'm listening to. He was spotted earlier at the Fire Station.
