Um... what?

Is this real? If it is... Americans are in a lot of trouble.

I can tell you, yes, it is real. It was also authored in part by Mc Cain.

And Obama has sworn to Veto it should it dare cross his desk.

The Statue of Liberty is how in deep dispair from this act of the most tyranical. I prey that the American senate have their senses get set back into them and repell this law of the most authorterian.

Um, WTH?! Why would US be a battleground right now??

Would a veto save Obama? It's passed 93-7.

It did pass 93-7. Son of a bitch. They could overturn the veto like nothing with that...

What the fuck are the Democrats doing? They control the goddamned Senate! I... er... ARHFG! Fuck you, Congress. Fuck you.

Well, vetos have done some miraculous things.

[up]Good question.

If they pass this over the veto—or it isn't vetoed at all—I think I just might start agreeing with Lost Anarchist and Savage. This is fucking absurd.

Perhaps the Supreme Court would throw it out? But Congress might just ignore them.

@USAF

Are the Democrats doing this to appease Republicans over the economy issue? Because that's as crazy as it gets for appeasement.

It seems that what exactly the bill would is under debate.

The fact that so many tropers took the link in the OP at face value disgusts me a little.

No, this isn't appeasement. 50-something to 40-something across party lines but with Democrat defectors would be appeasement. This is coordination. You don't get a bipartisan 97-3 vote without coordination.

There's no way in hell they don't know what this would do. Fucking Democrats. They really are just as worthless as the Republicans...

I don't understand. Who came up with this idea?

Mm... I am slightly less concerned.

Or rather, now I'm concerned for a different reason: the Democrats aren't even malicious here, just fucking stupid and worse yet, naive.

Ugh. Worthless lawyer politicians, the lot of them.

@silver 2195

It still sounds bad and I would oppose it anyway.

@USAF

I don't know, it could be a big-scale coordinated appeasement by the Senate's Democratic group itself?

I don't know, it could be a big-scale coordinated appeasement by the Senate's Democratic group itself?

No, it's too big a number. They aren't appeasing here, they just honestly agree with the bill, but don't even actually comprehend it's meaning.

Whether or not it definitively means that they would have this power is irrelevant; point is, if there's doubt on the matter, then there's a loophole and it will be abused like a motherfucker.

So, we have retarded Democrats and malicious, scheming Republicans locked together in a veto-proof majority against Obama.

...

Fucking hell.

......A Democrat came up with it.

Of all the bone-headed... Why on Earth would someone think this was a good idea outside a dictatorship?

The Army and CIA don't even want these powers.

Also, Al Franken and Rand Paul both oppose the bill. That's another reason to support it.

silver, do you what the bill actually is? Just because "my senator" feels this way doesn't mean I would agree with the senator on the bill.

Of course it isn't, but it's fun to pretend it is.evil grin
