8. Props to Yukari for moving at her own pace and not just following Ichika's whims. She knows how to handle the pink. How much space is in that house? It certainly doesn't look that big. Aoi has super strength even in her normal form. Old fairy guy already showing off a human form. At least everyone can kind of cook by now. Again, they make their enemies stronger. If this wasn't Precure I'd question how this store could stay open when everyone has an erratic schedule at best, but it's not like operating expenses are high, so they can manage.

I wish there's more of this inter-members interactions like this one episode.

9. Location location location. I guess they don't need to get any business permits given how quickly they can move the shop. Are they a business out to make money, or is this all charity work?

[up] At the same time, their shop has barely been established; and hardly anybody is aware of these Young Entrepreneurs' talents. It's not so much a charity as much as it is building consumers' confidence to the point where they would be willing to pay. That and they're actually trusting in Viral Marketing to work its magic. It all has to start somewhere.

I think a shop, including its entire foundation, suddenly appearing in the middle of a road will cause concerned policeman to start chasing after these girls. Then again, a shop in the middle of a forest isn't a good business plan.

10. Yukari and Akira carrying both the show and the shop. Did Aoi just realize it's weird that two popular high schoolers are hanging out with them? Legion of fans manage to be more creepy than usual. I think they just want to separate Yukari and Akira because everyone can see they're going to get together if this keeps up. Akira is doing all this to be nice while Yukari finds this still be amusing enough. And she probably cares deep down. Good episode for these two. Next time, we finally get a proper villain.

11. Man, Ichika is a dick to her dad this episode. She never told him she was changing their annual plans, never told him she was now working, and she got mad at him even after he approved of her working there. Did Yukari work at all, or did she just sit around laughing at everyone? Now this was a cool battle. Lots of enemies, protecting civilians, and a good reason for them to have a hard time against the monsters. I like how the finisher has them all cooking the uber-cake, but hopefully it's shortened next time or isn't used often. Are the delinquent fairies no longer evil? Good bonding with Ichika and her dad. He's a good guy. Next time, we finally get a proper introduction to the villain.

I wanted to say this for sometime now, but I want to see if they make a different animation. But I guess we'll have to make do with what we have.

The team's transformation is very badly synchronized. I'm not saying that it should have the Suite's kind harmonization, but really. One of the thing I like about the team transformation is that how the sound effects are making that ping-ping-ping sound one after another before it's capitalized by their clacking shoes and roll call. The Kira Kira are simply too strong individually.

12. I feel like the show is finding its stride after a lackluster beginning. Transfer student Rio sure is making the yaoi fangirls happy. Ichika is now loved at school for her sweets and store. Good for them to acknowledge she should be a little popular. I wonder how much money they're making now that business is booming. Good on the delinquent fairies for apologizing. Where are they staying now? Yukari takes an instant dislike to Rio. She must not like her favorite toy being taken by someone else. I wonder if they're going to build a rivalry between the two besides the obvious one he'll have with Ichika. Decent fight, but I hope they don't overuse that finisher.

13. Stop bullying Himari. She's clearly really uncomfortable with being in the spotlight. Though Aoi also avoiding it is odd. Once again they're helping their enemies. Maybe one day they'll stop doing that. Oh, so Aoi is an ojou after all. That's one blue tradition she isn't missing. And explains why she doesn't want to be filmed.

I might have missed something, but didn't earlier episodes show that pretty much all sweets that are well-made with love and care have kirakiraru energy in them? So, yes, the Cures could stop making sweets and then Julio wouldn't be able to take the kirakiraru from the ones the Cures make. However, unless he stated that he only wants the kirakiraru that specifically comes from eating sweets made at the Kirakira Patisserie, then he'd probably find people who ate sweets made by someone else to steal it from.

One advantage the Cures have from the fact that Julio does seem to take kirakiraru from people who ate the sweets they made more often is that then they're more likely to be near him when he takes the kirakiraru and thus can be aware of it to spring into action. So it could be argued that both sides are making things easier for the other, without meaning to, of course.

14. So the Tategami family trains its butlers to be ninjas. Yukari has her entire group pegged down. She suspected who Aoi was. Respect. Aoi manages makeup quite well for someone who hates that stuff. The old ojou dilemma of the family wanting you to focus on the business and nothing else. Actually I think this is the first time Precure has done that even with all of its ojous. Even Minami's family was fine with her having a different passion. Rio keeps twisting words to get people down. Why does Yukari not like him? Gelato still has the coolest moves. Of course Aoi is also an academic genius. Still hitting all those blue tropes.

I just noticed that the namespace for Smile Pretty Cure! now redirects to Glitter Force. I think this is a problem, but I just want to check with my fellow fans if this is truly an issue or not.

That is a huge issue, they are different series in the same way as Robotech and Super Dimension Fortress Macross or Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger they should have different pages.

1/6th of the series didn't even make it to glitter force and those that did are not even translations. They just wrote a new story, new names, new soundtrack and everything.

Apparently it was discussed (a little bit) on ATT: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=52217&type=att

Personally, I'm all for giving Smile and Glitter Force separate pages, but that's not my decision to make.

Has someone here made note of that in that thread? I would like to think that Smile and Glitter Force are, from what I see, are quite different. Not only Glitter Force cut several character important episodes (and several not so important ones), I think by dubbing only Smile, Glitter Force lost its relation with the general Precure series. Smile is a parody of general Precure season, and Glitter Force no longer have that self-aware charm if there nothing to self-aware of in comparison.

I mean, I made fun a lot of that 'simple and easy to understand season' thing the producer said, but I understand the decision to make Smile the way it was. When it comes to the series' name, I think it should be about the season's integrity first and foremost.

Been thinking of taking a look at Doki Doki Precure, if only cause of it being adapted into the next Glitter Force season and its similarities with Kamen Rider Blade. So what are the main issues that it has? The most I've heard is that it basically suffers from Mission: Impossible II Syndrome.

I'm not very proficient with Mission Impossible series, so can you explain what's the problem with Mission Impossible !! and how it has anything to do with Doki Doki?

[up][up] Aside from Mana's Harem Master meme status, she tends to be one of the worst Spotlight Stealing squads in the whole franchise, And considering Pink Precure are the equivalent of Red Rangers in Sentai (ie, they get all the best power ups), that says something.

Yeah it is all Mana all the time. Even if stories seemingly about one of the other cures, nope Mana hijacks the episode to make it about her.

Honestly just watch Heartcatch, it's pretty much the same thing but better in every conceivable way.

Some other things that make Doki bad are;

1. The Myth Arc is ineffective. While the overarching plot is a great showing that the director is thinking ahead of the season, the way Doki handles the Myth Arc is horribly bad-paced. Regina is shafted by a brainwashing wave to get Ace the spotlight. Makopi loses her purpose except for that one awesome episode where she sings for Regina, and even the build-up is nonexistent because the slot is used for Ace's training montage. The use of the Cures' personal pad moves are underutilized because there's no time left for the episode. Case of the point, Rosetta claims that Rosetta Balloon has different effects each time it is used and we only see it twice.

2. The director was too ambitious. There's too much "all in manual" happening off-screen that you don't really see in the show. There were other two Selfish Agents that got shafted, countless worlds that Leva and Gula claimed had conquered, more about the other Legendary Precures, why Bel turned into a mouse and the Selfish is general, etc. If the show didn't care enough to show them, why should we?

And of course, there's that often cited "Mana's spotlight stealing".

So yeah, it does seem like Doki Doki suffers the same problems as Mission Impossible II (too much focus on the main character rather than the team, too ambitious for its own good, poor pacing, etc).

Wonder if it can be improved in GF.
