It is indeed still open.

To speed submissions up a bit, i read through the newest ones, and ultimately had no problems with them. I'm okay with stamping acceptance if the other G Ms are.

Now to submit my character, since i have time finally. Well, to properly plan it all out, anyway.

Only a matter of time until my glorified hobo enters the scene. . . Wonder who will be her partner in hobo.

Also, can't wait to see how Aaronyan modifies his KITTY. 'Cause We need a Khajiit to balance with the Argonians.

Alright, All finished!

  • Name: Bugraal Shul-Gagoth
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 46
  • Race: Orsimer/Orc
  • Birthsign: The Tower
  • Homeland: Skyrim - Raised in Narzulbur. Lives nomadically.
  • Appearance: Bugraal measures 6'3 in height and weighs about 315 pounds, all muscle. His head is completely bald, though he sports a short, grey beard.  Aside from common traits shared with all his Orsimer brethren (green skin, elongated lower canines) his face and arms are lined with light burn scars, which certainly don't help his attractiveness. Even less so do his blood-red colored eyes. His hands are calloused and rough from his trade and, despite being gravelly and harsh-sounding, his voice exudes an air of calm and quiet refinement.
  • Personality: While by no means reclusive and unfriendly, Bugraal is far more comfortable alone at a forge more than anywhere else. Years of racial prejudice and harsh living has left Bugraal with a very matter-of-fact, borderline apathetic personality. He cares very little of what other people think of him, but takes great pride in his work; the easiest way to offend him is to mock his craftsmanship. He tends to avoid eye contact during casual conversation, which can be confused for condescension. Despite his seemingly careless outlook on life, Bugraal is still a highly moral Orc who insists on making his wealth square. He absolutely refuses any form of thievery or other underhanded attempts at moneymaking, and won't kill people he finds redeemable if forced to fight. Get to know him enough, and under those burn marks and red eyes you'll find a loyal friend with a sense of humor a dry as his green skin.
  • Possessions: A pair of Nordic steel gauntlets, a set of hide armor, leather boots, a large satchel currently containing three iron ingots, two steel ingots, and some tanned leather, another satchel carrying two days worth of rations, and 45 septims.
  • Skills: Good at Smithing, Heavy Armor, Two-Handed, and Speech. Average at Enchanting and Block.
  • Background: Not one Orc in Narzulbur knows from where the infant Bugraallcame to them. When they found him at the gate, he had nothing on him but a rag wrapped around him and a stone with his name carved upon it. Nonetheless, they took him in and raised him as their own. Most of his youth was spent in sword spars and target practice, training day after day to defend his home. One cold evening, however, he stumbled upon the smith and his forge. The little orc boy stood in innocent wonder as the smith pulled a magnificent blade from the blazing embers and hammered out a mighty sword.  From that day forward the forge fascinated him, and each day after his regimen he would go and see the smith work. There was something about the glow of the embers, the sound of hammer hitting steel, the simple fact that you could craft masterworks from such destructive force, that captivated him. In time, he graduated from observer to assistant, aiding the smith in his more menial tasks and learning all that he could from him. It took until the age of fourteen before he was permitted to work the forge itself. It was a completely different experience to learn than it was to actually do, but despite many, many failures and botched designs, he would eventually maintain a consistent quality in his work. Crafting weaponry became his passion, and he realized that to further advance his knowledge of the ageless art he would have to broaden his horizons. And so, after six more years of training, at the age of twenty, Bugraal left the stronghold to live as a wandering blacksmith. From village to city he traveled, offering his services and wares to whoever desired them while working with local smiths to learn and improve. In Winterhold he discovered the art of enchantment, and spent several years there to study and utilize it for his craft. To this day he still wanders Skyrim, as eager to learn and prosper as he was when he began.

Why no Netch leather?

Also, I'm pretty sure blue scales are an option for argonians in character creation.

Hmmm...

Very interesting. I approve, Mac Duffy.

  • Name: Jo'Khaj
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: 27
  • Race: Khajiit
  • Birthsign: The Mage
  • Homeland: Elsweyr
  • Appearance: Tall and skinnier than normal for a Khajiit, most of Jo'Khaj's body is packed muscle, kept like such by years of travel aiding farms and anyone who might need an extra set of hands. His fur is dark grey colored, with sideburns tied into ponytails (like the style in-game) and hair flowing down to shoulder length in a sort of mullet style, with two long ponytails hanging in front of his ears. His tail is a mixture of dark fur and white fur, like that of a snowy sabrecat, and his eyes are a silver color, the irises feral in nature. In terms of clothing, he wears a robe similar to the apprentice robes of the College of Winterhold, except it is all white fabric, covered in sand stains. Underneath this, around the ends of the sleeves and the bottom of the robes, what looks like torn and ragged chainmail can be seen. He wears fingerless leather gauntlets and leather boots, both styled with a more metal outlining. He also wears a larger satchel than usual.
  • Personality: Jo'Khaj is intelligent and wise, commonly walking with pride only seen amongst the finest Khajiit warriors of Elsweyr. It is apparent, however, he is not quite cut from the same cloth. Jo'Khaj does not, however, deny this, freely admitting that he once tried to be something he wasn't. He does not, however, shy away from being a prideful Khajiit of Elsweyr, seeing no reason to not be proud of what he is. He has a great fascination with reading and exploring, always having a book on hand to read. His philosophy on fighting is "Listen to those who seek to fight you, but turn your head to the ones that will." He dislikes the distrust of his race, but commonly tries to put himself on all sides to understand why. As such, he tries to exemplify the fact that not all of his kind are thieves, and attempts to be a role model for those that are. He has gotten robbed a couple times because of this, usually leaving him with bare resources, but he's never cared.
  • Possessions/Equipment:
  • Chainmail Elsweyr Robes
  • Satchel, containing:
    • About 3 books or so on various subjects, from historical applications, origins and instances of magic to the various ingredients abound in Skyrim and their properties. There's an adventure book in there, too.
  • A various amoutn of spells:
    • Conjuration:
      • Bound Sword
    • Destruction:
      • Firebolt
      • Ice Spike
      • Lightning Bolt
    • Restoration
      • Fast Healing
      • Steadfast Ward
  • Skills:
    • Destruction: Apprentice level
    • Restoration: Apprentice Level
    • Conjuration: Novice level
    • Light Armor: Skilled
    • Alchemy: Skilled
    • One Handed: Somewhat Skilled
    • Unarmed Combat: Racial Skill
  • Backstory: Born to a merchant family in Elsweyr, Jo'Khaj was immediately different. Magical ability was uncommon among Khajiit, and yet he not only displayed that, he displayed an aptitude to learning it. It was never an issue of discrimination, but an issue that he felt... different, growing up, relying more on magic than a blade, although the civility of the jungle lessened that. Finally, he set out, aiming to make a name for himself not as a mage, but as a warrior.

This fared somewhat well. He made a small time name in Elsweyr's badlands, killing mercs slowly as he came across them, more by luck than skill. Naturally, he got a bit cocky, deciding to take on a bandits leader in single combat. He was swiftly beaten, held to the end of a sword... but he was not killed. rather, the leader stared into his eyes, his blade never wavering, before he asked a question: "Who are you? Because you are not a warrior, yet you take up a blade." Slwoly, his hand dropped. "Set foot into Elsweyr once you can answer that question."

In shame, Jo'Khaj walked away, his travels taking him quite abroad. Through his travels, he gained an interest in places away from his homeland, learning more and more about himself. He has not set foot in Elsweyr since, and doesn't plan to, until he can give that leader the answer he sought.

Let's not dog him for that. It's a very interesting idea, going into Skyrim aiming to be more of a smith than adventurer. I give props to him for that!

Clearer version: No weapon = kinda creative idea.

[up][up][up] Actually, my idea was that he had the roleplay equivalent of the Fists of Steel perk, and he just punched people. You could say that the gauntlets are his weapon.

But yeah, more of a craftsman than an adventurer, really. I'm the Tamriel equivalent of the Engineer! :D

Also, anyone up for making Hand-to-Hand an actual skill? I really feel like it should be it's own instead of just shoehorned in to Heavy Armor.

I think it deserves its own skill, Rabbit. You don't automatically know kung-fu by knowing how to strap your armor on properly, and likewise, those who know kung-fu can't necessarily tell a breastplate from plate armor.

And what's the ruling on Staffs as melee weapons, because the Skyrim Wiki said you couldn't use them for melee attacks...

[up][up] Well, you can always use it like a weapon, but in the end, you're fighting with a piece of wood against people with swords and axes. They'll just sheer straight through because you can't block. Also it tends to be a bad idea to use your magic firing stick as a close combat weapon. Shit tends to explode. And not enemy shit.

Unless it isn't wood. It's been established in-universe that other types of staves exist. In Morrowind, they had a "steel staff".

I understand that this isn't a Morrowind RP, of course, and I understand if the G Ms decide to say it's a no-go, but considering that Morrowind and Skyrim share (or rather, shared, if I'm reading this right and Morrowind has indeed fallen) a border, it just seems a little weird.

wild mass guess The secret to making the elusive "metal staff" was lost with the eruption of Red Mountain and the subsequent destruction of most of Morrowind.

or alternately

wild mass guess Morrowind merchants cleverly painted a thin steel paint over conventional wooden staffs to fool gullible adventurers into purchasing these "Steel staffs". Evidence from this time also notes a sudden spike in the death rates of adventuring mages.

or maybe

wild mass guess The secret of making metal staffs was kept only by the powerful Great House Telvanni, a bastion of wizarding power. They kept the creation process a secret in order to maximize their profits, but when the House fell during the Fall of Morrowind, the secret too was lost.

[shrug] Take yer pick.

I think he was trying to be funny, Dragon. In your defense, though, I don't see why they can't be used to "bash" enemies that get too close, at the very least, similar to how you can do so with a bow. You know, to give yourself breathing room and whatnot.

Well, the difference between a joke and an insult is who it's about. I'm not going to debate the decision, although I don't see how a long shaft of metal takes some "elusive secret" to make it as opposed to a mace, which is the same thing, but smaller with a flanged head...

Wait, did you think I wanted it to have magical properties? Because what I wanted was basically a metal pole about the size of a staff...

Calm down Dragon, I'm not mocking you. In fact, I was poking fun at the inconsistency of the games in regards to staff materials.

[up][up] And yes, to be honest I did. In game "staff" is only used to refer to magical staffs(i.e. the Staff of Magnus, Staff of Storm Wall, etc.). I do believe that Morrowind had a sort of "Stave" weapon like what you're talking about, and I'd be fine with making that a skill and letting you fight kung-fu style with one, depending on what the other G Ms say.

[up] Also, this for the most part. We're essentially trying to make it as close to the game as possible, but still making it realistic(you may have noticed Whiterun is actually reasonably sized now surprised). Staves fall in to the category of "Not in the game, but no real reason why it wouldn't work" category.
