Teridax

The rumblings from Teridax's base would shake the ground for miles around the Saranac district even as the base itself changed shape. Caught in the grasp of a dying Teridax, the spires twisted, and shattered, then reformed into smaller spires which repeated the process ad infinitum. Within the base, deep inside the crumbling rubble; past the bent and twisting scaffolds of titanium, the room of white shook. It was the epicenter, the heart of the destruction. Here two powerful minds collided, two unbreakable wills held each other in a mighty contest of strength.

Cracks began to form in the ceiling, the roof was coming down. In response to the crazed laughter of his counter-part, Teridax gave no change in expression-for that was hid by the Mask. He only gave words, words that were spoken without mercy, or grace, or comfort, or hope. A bitter stain of arrogance ran deep into its aftertaste.

   "I lied."

Makuta Teridax

[Overlord of Tatu]

The metal bits sticking to the parallel Teridax suddenly became one form, an iron sarcophagus- fitting for a master of metal. Upon its surface there collected a fine dusting of chrome, an after thought of no particular purpose. There wasn't going to be anything left to bury.

"I had always thought gloating to be a practice that was beneath me; but now, I simply cannot help myself."

Part of the roof collapsed in, a gaping puncture into the room of white. The falling debris, weighing hundreds of tonnes, took out most of the floor lighting. Teridax didn't bother to even blink- staring his parallel in the eyes in his last moment held higher priority.

"I had hoped you would see reason, I had hoped that you would see the power we could have attained together. But, I was to be disappointed. After all, there was a reason Miserix was never going to keep his throne; we were meant to rule- you and I- and the universe isn't big enough for the two of us."

An uncommon heat began to pervade the room, the floor blurring as the fire began. Red light began to seep in from the cracks in the walls, bathing the two combatants even as the lights of the white room gave out one after the other. The trembling growl of the base grew louder- some part of it still serving its purpose despite the entire structure caving in on itself. Upstairs the laboratories exploded, the fireball consuming research that would have transported the world hundreds of years into the future. Below, the armories were flooded, the great tanks that held the Saranac lakes giving out under the pressure.

"Be honored by the the price I have paid for your death."

The temperature of the room climbed, ten degrees a second. The white paint of the room began to melt, pooling in a puddle of ugly steaming sludge at the bottom. More of the wall broke away and fell, adding to the growing pile of debris.

"I am Makuta Teridax, the master of Shadows, the lord of the Brotherhood. I am Magneto, the Overlord of worlds, I am the faceless Darkness."

Teridax spread his arms out wide.

   "And I am victorious."

He vanished.

The metal cocoon around the alter fell away, falling down into the darkness like water. The psychic pressure was gone, his movement was no longer held at bay; the air stopped screaming.

The parallel Teridax had half a second to consider the words still lingering in the air; had half a second to consider the darkened walls, perhaps even had time to realise that he was burning. Half a second later, his worries were no more- no more thought of usurpation, no more thoughts of revenge; nor of victory in death. Death there was, but no victory. The fireball swallowed him whole- Ra's Al Ghul's machine had served its purpose.

Saranac district

The explosion took the world by its throat and shook it till it was deaf, blind and bleeding. Teridax's base disintegrated, replaced by a ball of fire that, for a single defiant moment, outshone the sun. White washed over the landscape; covering for a moment, the blood red paint Omega had so carefully slathered over the sky.

Sound traveled slower than light, for the seekers, it would give them just enough seconds to brace their ears for impact. The roar of the explosion was that of Bahamut the great, stung by a hornet; of Vishnu throwing a tantrum; of Atlas being kicked in the groin. The ground shook, and the air shook with it.

Five counts of eternal seconds later, all that remained of the base of Teridax was a ballooning mushroom cloud. The earth around it smoked like a British man with too many cigars; and the fires that raged among the ruins might have guided the more religiously persuaded to images of hell.

Teridax himself was nowhere to be seen- neither of them in fact. While one might possibly have joined the ash that now blew into the open mouths of the seekers, the location of the other was anyone's guess.

Sky, did he hear what Amon just said:

Sky looked at Urza when he heard Amon begging for a truce in the meantime.

Urza - Kahndaq

At last, the moment Urza feared had arrived. He had only the most fragmentary data to suggest it was so, but that was enough. If Tatu was no more, but his allies were not the cause of it, that left either their sponsor, that of their rivals, or their enemy, and if either of the first two had the power to slay Tatu, they would have done it without snatching Urza and his fellows from across time and space. Omega was here and they were not ready. The piece of Sifuri he had carried but never had the chance to study seemed to react to the changing of the skies, its power stirring restlessly in slumber.

He sent a mental command to his artifacts and the scorpions' weaponry ceased to threaten, pincers retracting and rotary guns spinning down to a stop. He also ceased concentrating on his spell against Dio and the white light faded out. They would need all the help they could get. He 'walked out into the open, appearing before Amon at last. The impassive visage of Fate's golden mask revealed nothing of the face behind it.

"We know what is happening," he said. "Your master's master no longer needs underlings to break his chains. Now he comes for all of us and then the rest of the multiverse. You have been tricked and there is no time to explain just how thoroughly. So long as this higher power, as you put it, remains a threat, I accept your offer. After it is over, if we live, you will answer for what you have done. Now, tell your companion to stand down and I will do the same for my people."

He opened another comm channel on his omnitool, this one to just the team in the immediate vicinity.

"This is Urza. Stand down now. Matters have changed. Report to my position at once and prepare to move."

Jack - China

Jack's sword was in his hand and it wrought great carnage among the undead horde, for its strikes turned them to dust. He was preparing to leap at their master when she seemed to stop all of a sudden. And then things got very strange. He was not at all sure what this meant, but he was sure that they were running out of time. Perhaps it was already too late.

"What is happening?" he asked of the surviving SHIELD soldiers. "Where is your leader here? How can we help?"

Zeal, Headquarters

Zeal rolled her own eyes at Loki, and pointed to her head, "I still have Amora up here, so forgive me for having doubts."

"I shall get the teleporters up and running if that is alright with you," Zeal stated simply to Yee, before heading over to activate the teleporters if Yee gave her the go-ahead. "Greed is still outside though, so you might want to tell him to come in."

Maria, Sanarac

Maria covered her ears as Teridax's Base exploded, and she turned to look towards it.

"Well, someone is a sore loser," Maria frowned at the explosion, before turning back to Tesseract with a serious expression on her face. "Release him."

Schala, China

"What is happening, Mr. Swordsman," Schala said to the nearby Jack. "Is that all of reality is about to be destroyed, which no one here, hero or villain, wants."

"Unfortunately, DESCO, we may actually have to help out the heroes," Schala explained, knowing that DESCO would not have liked being told that.

Gavrill put a hand on Loki's shoulder, leaning on him unsteadily. She blinked as he healed her face, the bleeding wound re-threading itself into the usual thick line of stitching.

"Oh yeah, shit. That hasn't happened in a while. Kind of embarrassing, falling apart at the seams..."

She tittered in a slightly unhinged manner - whether at Loki's compliments or at her own joke wasn't clear - as Yee continued his explanation.

"Now there's a great fucking idea! Let's go and tell them all to stop fighting. I'm looking forward to seeing the old gang again. Ya think they're still mad at us?"

Baxter Building Level 9 - Menardi

Menardi shook Sokka's hand, and received the codes with a smile on her face. Then she turned to the vault door and started unlocking the vault doors. Normally, the vault's secure locks would have needed biometrics, identity verifications and ever-changing codes running along a cipher that only Reed Richards knew. It was quite impressive. However, planning for disasters where he himself would be rendered incapable of accessing the vault, he had crafted some manual codes that would grant anyone access, and given them to certain persons he could trust. How the Seekers had gotten their hands on them was unknown, but Menardi suspected that the Seekers were in league with the local cells of resistance, and most likely someone there had supplied the codes. The door opened smoothly once the last line of symbols had been completed, and finally Menardi could step inside the most secure vaults of Mr. Fantastic.

The lights in the ceiling flickered alive, and ah, what a sight to behold. Rows upon rows of shelves, holding the greatest treasures of the Fantastic Four. Salvaged relics of alien civilizations, the only reserves of exotic elements from other dimensions, and gifts from worlds beyond worlds. All things that were too dangerous to keep out in the open, but too valuable to destroy. Held by Mr. Fanastic as both objects of study and for safekeeping. And finally, it was all hers.

However, her eyes soon sought out the one thing that she had come for, and she made a beeline for it. A white box of synthetic vibranium, marked with a number of warning signs. With a feeling of reverence, Menardi opened the container and withdrew the Ultimate Nullfier. It was a curious little thing, seemingly so simple yet so incredibly refined. With this, a sufficiently powerful wielder could potentially wipe out whatever they wished, on a multiversal scale if they so desired. It could easily destroy a god...if Menardi was strong enough. And right now, she felt strong enough to destroy a whole pantheon.

"We don't have much time. Let my friends go and let's get to the Headquarters. You guys have a teleporter, don't you?"

Sokka's words snapped Menardi out of her reverie, and she nodded. She transmuted the box's shape so that she could carry it more easily, then replaced the Nullifier.

"Upstairs. Stand back, I'll make a shortcut."

Menardi pointed a finger towards the ceiling, and a white-hot beam of scorching flame erupted in an upwards coloumn. Any and all materials were seared away, leaving a neat hole that went all the way through the building to the upper floors. Meanwhile, the Elementals stepped down from their battle positions, leaving Menardi alone with the Seekers. To fascilitate their ascent, Menardi created invisible platforms of solid air, then coloured them with smoke so that the Seekers would know where to step. One by one, the platforms started to rise up through the holes Menardi had burnt, working as an impromptu elevator.

"Follow me."

Menardi stepped onto the first platform, and let herself be carried up to the upper residential floors. She, and the Seekers that followed, emerged in what had once been the dining room of the Fantastic Four's residence. The change in ownership was obvious by the surroundings, however. While the Elementals kept the rooms clean, it was not exactly tidy. Various Alchemy experiments were lying around on open surfaces, and a whole palm tree had taken root in a patch in front of the stereo. Most noticeable, however, were the numerous containers for various fast food, sweets and snacks lying around. A box with a cold, half-eaten pizza lay in the sofa, and "someone" had left a box of assorted Belgian chocolates in front of the Richards' family pictures.

Of course, Menardi paid the mess no heed and helped herself to a small Sarah Bernhardt cake from the kitchen counter as she waited for the Seekers to ascend. She had completely fallen in love with this world's food, with its overabundance of saturated fats and sugar. And her constant use of Alchemy and Psynergy was constantly draining her energy reserves. However, since she couldn't just transmute food, she instead was a very good customer for those few businesses that managed to keep going through the change in leadership.

Once the last Seeker had arrived, she led them to her Laboratory, the chaotic workspace that once had belonged to the greatest scientist in the world. Thanks to the Stone, any failure could easily be remade into raw materials for the next experiment, and it showed. Piles of various raw materials were everywhere, scattered among the broken pieces of various prototype creations. A large elevated platform was entirely free of clutter, however, which was where Menardi was heading for.

"One moment, and I will get the portal ready."

Yee - Overlord Tower and in front of all the Champions, Seekers and Overlords

Yee snatched the staff from the air, and lightly tapped it against the floor. A crude implement, but a powerful one, enough to allow him to send his message.

Suddenly, an image of the wizened Remnant appeared in front of everybody. Were they to try and touch it, they would not find it, and no matter how they turned it would remain in their vision and it's voice would stay in their ears.

"Greetings. I am Yee, creator of the Nomads. I beg of you, cease this conflict at once, for a much greater one has appeared on the horizon. As you may have sensed, Tatu has died. But for as much harm he has caused this world, he was not master of his own fate. He served another."

"The mad Nomad Omega has seized the embodiment of entropy, and made it's power his own. I have devised a weapon to combat it, but it will need your assistance in defeating the mad god."

"I implore you, turn your arms away from your fellow mortals, and turn them towards Omega. For if he is not defeated, it means the end of all things."

Tesseract - Saranac

Tesseract took his hand off Zuko's, and placed it back in his pocket.

"I was merely demonstrating the ineffectiveness of your abilities. I surrender not because I cannot defeat you, or cannot attempt. I surrender because I no longer have reason to fight."

Baxter Building

"Well, duh!" Sokka yelled at Kitana, grunting as he climbed up Menardi's platforms of smoke. "Hit whoever got rid of the bad guy. That certainly cannot go wrong!"

"Now wait right there!" Toph yelled, popping out from the floor, completely ignoring Menardi's help and stomping her way towards the alchemist. "What's keeping you from turning that gun on us once you're all done getting rid of whatever's up there?!"

Until a voice took their attentions away...

China

"That's Cap," One of the SHIELD soldiers said, pointing at Riesbyfe's back. "She's the one leading the charge, but from the looks of it, there ain't much of a charge left to do. Everyone! Our orders are to stop firing!" It took a while for the soldiers to follow up on that order, especially since they were still fighting the revived corpses of their former comrades, but they eventually did so, some of them grumbling underneath their breath at the fact they didn't get a chance to enact the revenge they had been considering for such a long time.

Until the skies seemed to chitter at their squabbling...

Headquarters

"One does not need enough brain cells to surmise that the answer to your question is yes." Loki finished, watching Yee as he did his job.

Until a garbled voice which shook Loki to the core cut into Yee's transmission...

Kahndaq

"I don't think he's stupid." Amon said, idly pointing at Urza. "You are an entirely different story." He brushed past the Orkz, moving towards Dio with a pleading look in his eyes, watching as he and Icarax finished their similarly incessant sparring. "Now that we are both in accordance- at least to what must be done now- we must figure out how to reach Tatu's former abode. It's clear that is where his killer lies..."

Until the red skies seemingly began to drip blood...

Saranac Lake Village

One would think that the Alter, in all of his glory, would make it incapable for his face to show surprise, let alone any kind of negative emotion. When you think about it, that was the first sign that both the Alter and Teridax weren't as infallible as they would like to believe: that when given the chance to mold completely new and perfect bodies, they chose to give themselves a window into one's heart. In any other moment, this would have spelled their doom when faced with resistance from the forces they chose to oppress. Now, it was a sign that victory was in Teridax's hand, even before he declared it.

"NO!" The Alter roared, trying to push past the metal and the fire, even as his own fingers turned into molten deceptions once pushed against a solid object. "NOT LIKE THIS. I am victorious— I am king, I conquered the entire Eastern Seaboard, I wiped out entire revolutions— you are a child, a fool, nothing more than a mite who thinks he's big enough to FILL THE SHOES THAT—"

But the Alter would not have a chance to gloat like Teridax did. The blinding explosion silenced him, and he was gone, his disappearance causing the universe to shrug, for he was never meant to be in that plane of existence altogether. Outside, in the village, Zuko had a moment to brace himself as the shockwave hit him, strong enough to cause his legs to tremble, but not strong enough to throw him back into his Uncle's arms.

For a moment, he had been distracted from the anger currently aimed at the confident Tesseract. Speaking loudly- due to the loud whining in his noise- Zuko turned to Maria. "What was that?! Are we safe?!"

Until a chilling wind that rusted any nearby metal answered that question for him...

Everywhere

   hello

The voice that was heard all throughout the world was uncomfortable in a way few things could be. It hit people in the core, like a small mistake in a familiar setting, burning at the back of your head with an intensity that does not let go. Except that intensity, in this case, translated into a kind of cold that came from nowhere and everywhere at once...

this was a long time coming

   i'm omega

Blood red skies shined as if the sun was trying to break through the barrier, but instead, the already dried up forests began to burn, burn, burn, even though there was nothing to be burnt, a fire that refused to go out or exist in the same place, a living conundrum which ate at the building blocks of the way people perceive reality...

   sorry it's been so long

   i was busy

   cleaning this mess up

   ending everything

the way it should always have been

He- could Omega be called a he, was it even possible to throw him into the kind of genetic segregation we call gender, or was he even a being, a thing to be conceived, to be grasped, to be understood, to be comprehended, to be absorbed, to not be feared?- laughed...

but it doesn't have to end for all of you

   not today, that is

In front of every Seeker, every Champion, every Overlord, the ground cracked. And out of those cracks sprouted two portals made out of lava (the core of the Earth perhaps?), both of which leading into an impossible to discern void- except one shined brighter than the other, as if promising gifts it couldn't verbalize...

see, i'm going to kill all of you eventually

   but you can still live

   for a while

take that shining portal and go

   wander the multiverse

   procreate, mutilate, desecrate

   tell yourself you're safe

wait until i digest you and your friends and your family and every concept you've ever known

Silence.

   or take the other one

   face me

   and hasten your inevitable deaths

   either way i will—

   well

guess you'll have to find that out

   oh

   yee?

There was a loud crack as something big and important in outer space blew up.

   see you soon

The weight lifted off the back of everyone, as the clouds parted, once more revealing the calm, blood red sky. The voice was gone, or at least, biding its time, waiting for the Champions, the Seekers, the Overlords, for all of them to make one final choice.

Omega had spoken to all the champions. And presented a choice between portals. Zero vocalized a response.

"Not exactly a real choice. It's basically between dying while fighting or dying while doing nothing at all. Either way, it's still death."

China

It was stunning, how fast the situation could change, Riesbyfe contemplated, gazing up at the red skies. Nonetheless - she had a job to do.

Riesbyfe stood in front of the two molten portals that had been formed by Omega, and slammed the spear point of Gamaliel into the ground as a swordsman making a proclamation might do with their weapon.

"Seekers! Overlords! Newcomers, whatever you call yourselves!" She declared..

"Things have changed. We can't afford to keep fighting each other - no matter how much some of you may deserve death," she added, under her breath, "We need to act in harmony now. If we take that shining portal, that's our coda. Termination. Death. That other one? It's going to be the fight of our lives. It may not even be one we can win. I'm still going to fight it. If any of you want to go gentle into that good night, if you want to live in peace and pretend that the end of everything isn't bearing down on you, I won't stop you. If any of you aren't cowards, however, then you're coming with me. You're going to fight until your last breath. And we're going to win - whether it's possible or not."

She hefted her shield back up, turned around, and strode towards the portal to Omega, but stopped just short of it.

"One more thing. Is there anyone you care about that you left behind? Just remember them. And remember that they're going to die if we can't stop Omega." Riesbyfe certainly remembered that. Thoughts of the people she'd left behind were at the forefront of her mind. Particularly, the woman that she had sworn to be a shield for. Riesbyfe was more than prepared to give her life for that woman - again.

Zero spoke his choice.

"Hmph. If Omega threatens the entire multiverse, that means the people I care about are in danger as well. And I don't like the idea of sitting back doing nothing while they get destroyed. If I'm going to die, I'd rather die fighting."

He turned towards the less shiny portal.

"Besides, there's always a possibility. Omega wouldn't be the first person I've met who claimed his victory a guarantee, only to fail."

With that, he walked through.

Was it really an unexpected turn of events when, after being offered a way out, many Overlords took Omega's portal and promptly disappeared off the face of this forsaken Earth? Whilst the upcoming final battle was able to rile up some desire to fight, it seemed as if others considered any kind of resistance against Omega the same as asking for him to stomp on them several times. And who could blame them?

From the perspective of those on the ground, Omega didn't even have a face, let alone a body they could punch. They were essentially going up against the personification of all their fears and terrors. Sure, the Overlords who left took the easy way out, but they took it knowing that eventually, Omega would come for them too. Some would argue that this was the harder choice. Die now or die later? Live a few more seconds or live in fear?

Despite his apparent good nature, Omega didn't leave the remaining 'heroes' much time to ponder the philosophical ramifications of his choice. Once they took the portal to face him, the remaining fighters were transported back to New York, where Omega gave them another chance to take the easy way out. This time, a few Seekers and Champions crumbled and disappeared through the portal. Once more, can we really judge them? At least the Overlords took it in an instant. These people made their choice after seeing the faces of their comrades (and in some cases, their family) before making that choice. It was a poignant moment, although underscored by the corrosion of the planet's nature by Omega's mere presence.

Once the choice had been made and the Heroes began to plan for their attack on Omega, Yee strode forward with a plan. A last resort plan, something that he wasn't exactly considering when this venture began. A fortress, a mobile one, that could provide them with the vehicle and the weapons necessary to at least put a dent on Omega's stupid face. Although, again, no one was sure if he had a face. But they were sure of something: if Omega was giving them the chance to fight, it was because there was a chance they could win. No dictator or mad man with an assured victory in his hands would risk it by giving someone a clear shot at him.

A conclusion had been reached: Omega was either really stupid or had a lot of free time in his hands.

Before the battle began, the remaining Overlords gathered for what could be considered as a funeral for Tatu. It was a sordid affair, with name throwing and a few fights that had to be stopped by outside forces. It was in that moment that the Overlords were forced to consider the ragtag nature of their team. Heck, calling it a team was an insult to actual teams. The Overlords were a group of bombs hastily stitched together in the hopes that they wouldn't explode. And Tatu was, apparently, the stitches holding them together... albeit forcefully.

The others didn't have much to consider. Tears, insults and kisses happened in the span of minutes. Entire relationships ran through 25 years in the span of 25 seconds. They didn't have much time left, might as well spend it.

And then, they stepped into the portal... for one last time.

The Nexus of the Multiverse was a jumble hackneyed mess, impossible to convey through the crude imagery of human language. It followed no rules and it obeyed no conventions. Simple conversations were stretched out for minutes because people kept hearing the answers before the questions- prompting them to think 'wait, if I just heard the answer to a question I didn't ask, am I nothing more than a simple lifeless puppet through which the will of the multiverse manifests itself?' or 'not this again'.

But as their humble and silent fortress traveled through the nexus, images of previous (and future) events flashed past them, contained in the bubbles of time and space. The Heroes were forced to relive every moment that led up to this battle, as if Omega was taunting them with memories of the past and visions of a future that would never come to be. It is said that even the toughest of the Heroes cracked under the painful strain of the Nexus, but you didn't hear it from me.

And there was Omega, standing in all of his glory. From the Heroes perspective, Omega was nothing more than a cloud of thoughts, of mumbled words and unspoken desires. He- it identified as a he- stood in all of his glory, like a father waiting in the darkness for his daughter to sneak back into the house. Except the father, in this case, savagely licked its lips against a knife's blade in expectation of the kill.

Words were exchanged between Omega and Yee, a conversation nobody really understood. It was in this moment that the Heroes realized just how insignificant they were in this conflict between gods. They never got the full gist of it (nobody bothered to tell them), but they doubted they would understand even if someone took their time to explain it. Although this insignificance soon fed back into pride: they were ants, yet these ants were about to destroy Omega.

I won't bother you with the details of the first half of the battle, for the Heroes failed. And their failure was set in stone when Omega's finger pierced through Yee's heart.

It was only through death that a new future could be born.

Before Yee's body could hit the floor, a new figure held him close to his chest. A familiar figure to some of the Heroes. Tatu stood there, once more seemingly alive- apart from the gaping hole in his neck barely holding his head to its place. The two Nomads exchanged a few sentences. Sentences the Heroes didn't hear. But something in those words calmed Yee's heart.

And with a silent sigh, he died. Tatu disappeared. The fortress began to shake.

The battle was won.

It seemed that, in its last moments, the fearsome weapon had given the Heroes what they had wanted from the start. As the fortress drifted through the now empty and orderly Nexus of the Multiverse, a multicolor portal appeared, and on the other end, the most precious reward of all: the future. Now the Heroes could go home or explore the multiverse. No longer were they just pawns in a game of gods.

Johnny

Johnny died at the age of twenty seven.

If anyone had told him that, years ago, he would've said something along the lines of "No shit". If you told him that he died with a sword in his hand, a spell on his lips and bravely sacrificing himself to save innocents, he would've told you to fuck off.

But that's what happened. Monsters were at the gates of the town, help was still a few hours away. There was no-one left to fight.

He bought them the precious hours that saved their lives.

In the end, the beasts had to attack him from the air. The last thing he saw was a giant black feather sticking of his chest. The only thing that prevented his body from being torn to shreds was the arrival of the world's heroes.

His family never knew he died. They simply thought he had joined some charity in Africa.

But the heroes' grave in a small town somewhere in the multiverse said different.

Mordin

Despite the fact that he was now alive, there were still thousands of Krogan babies named after Mordin Solus. And that's all that matters for this story.
Fletcher

He was never the same really. After everything.

He never told anyone what had happened to the other Winter Soldier. When they asked, all he said was that she died. The glaze over his eyes betrayed a bit more than that.

Outwardly, he was happy, jokey, hopeful. But he had retreated inwards, away from the other Seekers. Throughout the final battle, he seemed closer to Tesseract than anyone else. He didn't even care when he saw Loki again.

And when the time came, he left without saying a word. No goodbye.

It took a few weeks back home, but he got better. A bit of life came back. He forgave himself for what he did.

And then everything fell apart in his universe. And he became cold again. He let Winter invade his heart, the Soldier guide his actions.

And monsters died.
Tesseract

He ordered them home. His mercenaries, and his daughter. They left at the first chance, despite their protests to stay with him. Better he died to let them live than they all died together.

He had to be talked down at Tatu's funeral. He wanted vengeance for his master, and there were targets ready for him wreak it upon.

But in the end, he focused on helping everyone end Omega. He rationalized it by putting the blame of Tatu's death on the mad god.

Really, though? Tira or Loki he could've taken, in his opinion. Together, even. Gavrill was too much, though. He couldn't kill Gavrill. Truth be told, there was a good chance not even Omega could. After all, he died. Gavrill lived.

Tesseract pretended his need for retribution was sated.

So he went home to have guns and magic aimed at him, and a world about to end. In the end, the world was saved again. A lot of people died to save it.

Tesseract wasn't one of them. They let him, and Child and his men go. Despite never being paid, they kept in contact with their old employer. Babysitting when Tesseract was out on jobs, being Child's honorary aunts and uncles.

Despite getting everything he wanted and more, he was never as content as he was before Tatu brought him back to life. Despite a wonderful growing daughter, and a job he was happy with, there was still something he knew he would go to his grave wanting.

Not really much of a penance now, was it?

It was time to go.

You don't have to do this...

He didn't care...

You can still run...

What did it matter, in the face of annihilation?

NOTHING...

That's all he was, right? Just a living contradiction, seeking the salvation of his supposed non-existence when he didn't even have to fight.

You gain nothing from this...

"Maybe I don't." The Freeshooter muttered, eyeing what would the entrance to what could be his final battle. If he were to survive it, that is.

BA-BUM!!!

But what of it?

He moved.

The Aftermath

It was done.

He was done.

All of it.

Done.

He felt no trace of that which was Xehanort in his body. He was still himself, in a roundabout way...

He was...
...
Ba-bum...
...
He felt...
...

Ba-bum...

...

Whole...

He stopped, pressing his hand to his chest, eye widening in surprise.

He felt that.

His body could feel that.

His body shook, surging with feelings strange, yet familiar to the Nobody.

No...

He wasn't a Nobody, not anymore...

He was Whole again! With the emphasis on the W! He cried out with joy! Whooping and hollering, he could barely contain himself. Finally, free from it all. He had no reason to return home. Oh sure, he could. But, who in their right mind would? Going back to be a pawn of a delusional old man with even crazier schemes that he couldn't even fathom.

He was truly free from his universe. He could go anywhere, do anything! But this adventure taught him a lot of things, so much that he didn't want to go back to the same old song and dance routine he was so thoroughly invested in. A great door has been opened to him, so full of possibilities.

So. Do you wish to return?

Xigbar/Braig laughed long and hard as his body vanished into the void....

AS IF!

It was a long battle... but it was finally over.

The champions were now free to go anywhere they desired...

But Zero didn't care about all these other worlds.

The people he cared about, the people he believed in, they existed somewhere else. Zero knew exactly where, and when, he wanted to go...

He emerged in a desert area. Nearby, was a set of ruins. From what it looked like, the remains of a Neo Arcadia base.

He was back where he belonged.

His communicator went off.

"Zero?! Zero, come in!"

He answered.

"I'm fine, Ciel. Just hit quite a bit of trouble."

"Oh, Good. When communications got blocked out, I feared the worst."

"Mission complete. Transfer me back."

"On it."

With a flash of light, Zero was teleported back to the Resistance base.

Sabrina, Saffron City

Sabrina woke up back in her bedroom in the Gym at Saffron City. She believed that the multiversal adventure she and Alakazam had had was merely a dream. However when she had checked Alakazam, it seemed that they both had the same dream. Sabrina found this odd, but explained it away as them both telepathically experiencing the same dream.

Chun-Li, Her Bedroom

Chun-Li woke up back in her bedroom back in China. She too believed that the multiversal adventure she had had was merely a dream. However, Chun-Li found around her neck the magical pendant that helped her channel her chi when she had to fight the army of undead. Maybe she forgot where she had bought it, but it raised a question on if the adventure she had thought was a dream was actually real.

Schala, Hades

Desco and Schala had returned to Hades while Genjuro Kazamatsuri and Des-X returned to their own Earth. It was then that Schala had met who Desco really wanted to see again... Her Big Sis, Fuka Kazamatsuri. Schala soon found out that Fuka hit HARD with a baseball bat. OW!

While Schala did end up as a demon in Hades, it was not all that bad. Desco was still eager to learn to be a Final Boss from the "Prinny Instructor" Valvatorez, which Schala was allowed to participate in. However, Schala knew the truth. Both Desco and Des-X had regained their power that was suppressed while serving Tatu and, combined with the powers she had gained from Klarion, Desco was almost certainly the strongest demon in this world... While she did not know it yet, she had achieved her goal of effectively being the Final Boss. And as eternity passes for the both of them in Hades, Schala will be right by Desco's side, forever her loyal servant and forever her best friend.

Four hours later

The Twinkling Moons were a tourist hotspot, but also a much sought after location by eager lovers. Like other locations, the shining blue moons had become associated with long marriages and happy romances. Something to do with the way their blue light spread an unusual warmth through whoever bathed in it. As such, many couples (and in some cases full-on groups) congregated under its light, basking in it or just using this as chance to relax.

It wasn't really the place you'd expect to see a Nordic God and a Frankenstein Monster.

"Hm." Loki mumbled under his breath, legs crossed as he watched the Moons from a floating chunk of rock. "Look at all of them down there. Unaware that they're standing in the vicinity of two saviors of the Multiverse. Gods, even the title feels sappy."

Gavrill looked at the moons, at the shining stars above them both. She took in the full sight. Then she snorted dismissively. "Is that it? Is that everything the Multiverse has to offer me? Me of all people? Pathetic! Fucking pathetic!" She turned from him and sprawled herself onto the ground. By now he'd have known her idiosyncrasies.

"I don't care about them. I have more important things on my mind."

Yes, quite tragic. You kill the personification of... whatever he was, and all the Multiverse can muster is a sad sigh."

He looked down at her, smiling. "What other things could be on your mind? I find that at the eve of a big journey, I can only concentrate on the small things."

“Ah, I don’t know…" She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, her belligerent attitude dropping away in an instant. For the first time in a long while, she almost looked vulnerable. "It’s all a bit beyond me, really. I can’t say I ever thought my life would go in a direction like this."

"Mhm." Loki shrugged, lying down besides Gavrill."Can't say the same. Always thought I would travel the multiverse with a god-killing woman. Though back then the woman was also me. And there was a lot of angst directed at my Father."

"With that being said, I don't mind this direction." Loki tried to reach for Gavrill's hand, keeping his eyes locked to the sky above them. "I enjoy it."

“I… think I do too? For now, at least.”

Gavrill looked up as well, frowning slightly. “But how long is it going to last? How long can it last? That’s to say - shit, I’m no good at this- “

She took his hand, still struggling to put her concerns into words. “I mean, everything might be alright for a while, but I’m… not very reliable. I am aware of that. It’s probably only a matter of time before I do something stupid and fuck everything up.”

“I once spent two years as the queen of a race of Amazonian warriors before setting them on a path to self-destruction because I got bored."

"I've been everything you could ever be. I've been with everything and everyone. I've done everything, sometimes all in the same day. I guess what I'm trying to say is..."

Loki tightened his grip on her hand, still not looking at her. "I'm not the most reliable person too."

“I know that. Frankly it confuses me and makes me furious with you. Sometimes I think I should just kill you myself and be done with it.”

She kept looking upwards, as though afraid to try meeting his gaze. “That’s always going to be a risk, isn’t it? That I’ll get into one of my ah, moods… do something to hurt you… but I suppose you’ve accepted that already.”

"If you kill me, I'll probably be reborn. In some far away corner of this galaxy, a green flash of light will fill up a room as I start a new life. Hopefully, not in a prison like last time."

Since she wasn't meeting his gaze, Loki soon climbed on top of Gavrill, looking deep into her eyes. "I might not even look human. But I'm certain of one thing: it'll still be me. I'll still be in there. All my thoughts, memories and wishes."

"And," Loki caressed her cheek with the back of his other hand. "I will still love you, Gavrill Madaraki."

Dimly, it occurred to Gavrill that was the first time either of them had said it. She reached out, and stroked the back of his head.

“I know.”

She laughed, partly out of surprise at her own actions, and for once it actually sounded happy and genuine.

“Can you believe it? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I love you, Loki Laufeyson. And I won’t hurt you. Not ever.”

At that, her face twisted into a lecherous grin.

“Well… not unless you say please.”

Queen Zeal, Years Later

"After evacuating as many from my Second Kingdom of Zeal as we could to another world, I began setting up the Third Kingdom of Zeal," Queen Zeal boasted to her honored guest. "It was easy enough to do so, and Greed & I were able to conquer the entire world that time and from there, made plans for the multiverse."

One of Zeal's servants, the lovely Sif, poured wine for both Queen Zeal and her guests.

"However, I never thought I would meet another one of... well, me!" Queen Zeal smiled at her guests, who were parallel versions of Queen Zeal and Schala.

"I never thought I would meet another one of me, either," The parallel Zeal said politely.

"Now a toast to the Kingdom of Zeal, no matter the incarnation!" Queen Zeal raised her glass and the parallel Zeal and Schala followed, before all three drunk their wine... And then the parallel Zeal and Schala dropped their wine glasses and their eyes fluttered. Something was wrong with their wine. The parallel Schala's mind soon entered a haze as she became a servant for Queen Zeal.

"W-What... did you... do to me?" the parallel Zeal struggled to speak out. Queen Zeal just smiled and laughed.

"A bit I learned from the knowledge of Amora!" Queen Zeal boasted as she stood up and gently caressed the parallel Zeal's face. "Your drinks were spiked with Hypno-Serum that will soon turn you and your daughter into my obedient servants."

"But... why?" The parallel Zeal struggled against the effects of the Hypno-Serum. "We are... the same!"

"No... I have my husband King Greed and my children Mammon and Lilith," Queen Zeal explained curtly. "I may have been you once, but not now... Not after what I experienced."

"And it is because of them that I do this..." Queen Zeal continued with a genuine smile on her face. "What better gift for my husband than a version of his own wife as his personal servant, and what better gift for my children than a version of the very world that I myself once ruled, which should be easy enough to conquer with the magic and technology that I have at my disposal."

"I also get an obedient version of my own daughter as well," Queen Zeal noted more for herself. The parallel Zeal's mind entered a haze, as she finally fell to the effects of the Hypno-Serum, fated to become just another servant of the Immortal Queen Zeal of the Multiversal Kingdom of Zeal.

B.B. Hood, A Year Later

B.B. Hood had tried to continue her Darkhunting back on her Earth, while hiding the fact that she could now turn into a werewolf. Things had gone rather well for her untill she had heard of a strange castle that had appeared out of nowhere. Deciding said castle was a good source of income, B.B. Hood stormed it with as many weapons as she could carry. However, there was quite the surprise waiting for her when she got to the Throne Room... Sitting on the throne was a member of the other Sifuri Team, Maria Renard.

Maria Renard, A Year Later

"So Blondie, what the hell are you doing here on my world?" B.B. Hood asked Maria Renard.

"Well, after I had returned to my world, I had enough power that killing Dracula for good was all too easy, especially with the Soulsword in my possession," Maria explained to B.B. Hood. "After that, I became Lord of his Castle and took it into Limbo with me."

"I used Limbo as a home base for me to travel the multiverse eliminating evil demonic forces or gaining control over them," Maria continued for B.B. Hood's benefit. "I cam here because your world certainly has demons."

"Mmm, yes..." B.B. Hood's eyes widened in fear as she knew the owner of that sensual Scottish accent. It was the current ruler of Makai, the succubus Morrigan Aensland, sitting on her own invisible throne. "She wanted a fight with the strongest demon in this universe and I obliged."

"She is a very skilled fighter," Morrigan added, smirking at Maria. "Very stimulating."

"You are pretty powerful and skilled, yourself, Miss Aensland," Maria said back to Morrigan, before turning to B.B. Hood. B.B. Hood would never find out who won that battle, and looked utterly annoyed at the apparent friendship between the two demonic rulers. There was only one way this situation could get any worse.

"Hi, Bon-Bon!" The voice behind B.B. Hood was Morrigan's little sister, Lilith Aensland. This situation got worse!

Tira/Gavrill-Aftermath

While Gavrill and Loki were gone, Tira stayed behind in the fortress after having tried to follow Gavrill only to be told to stay, not unlike an overeager puppy. This was perfectly fine for Tira, who now viewed Gavrill with the same reverence she once viewed Nightmare, and thus she was more then happy to do whatever she wanted. She had, in the meantime, busied herself with keeping herself occupied. She had taken a few hits during the fighting, nothing her new healing factor could not fix, but this left her covered in a considerable amount of her own blood, little of which she had bothered to get off. Indeed, she had used this to her advantage, and was currently very busy using said blood to scrawl poorly spelled insults to the dead Nomads on a wall, with an already dripping "Tatu Suxs" being her current project as she waited for Gavrill to finish and return.

When Gavrill finally deigned to return she too was coated in blood, not all of it her own, and what looked to be black scorch marks. In addition, the sclera of her left eye was red with pooled blood, her clothes had been reduced to tattered filthy rags and a large patch of her hair had been burned off, and was regrowing slowly even as she walked in. Despite all this she seemed more thoughtful than anything else, scanning Tira's graffiti with a critical eye.

"Hmm. Writing in blood may seem like a good idea, but it's only going to go brown and flaky pretty quick. Loses a bit of the impact, y'know?"

Tira turned to Gavrill and frowned deeply, clearly unhappy with this new knowledge. Despite Tira's love of death and bloodlust, she did not usually hang around after the deed was done, as Gloomy usually insisted they not hang around the scene and potentially get noticed. Sure, that would result in more bloodlust, but would also attract heavy attention, up until very recently, potentially more then she could handle. Because of this, Gavrill's new fact about how blood worked was completely unknown to her.

Aww, really? That's just.....just.... Tira struggled to find the proper words to use for her feelings on this. It's really sad, you know? I was hoping you'd like it Gavy. I didn't really have anything else to use, I tried carving it in with Edgy, but the walls are really weird and it didn't do anything. I even shot it with Soulgun and it still didn't do anything!

By this point, Gavrill knew far better than to ask if she was being serious. She reached out and patted Tira on the head in a comforting manner.

"Well. It doesn't matter now. He's dead, his boss is dead, his army is gone, and we're not... so I win. I think that gets the message across better than anything else, don't you?"

Tira smiled as she was patted on the head, nodding in agreement before she hunched over as Gloomy took control of her body and expended significant effort to get her slacking head to look up at the very tall monster's head.

I admit, when I got dragged into this shit, I did not expect it to end like.....this. Gloomy said as she waved her hand on a vague motion. I figured I'd have to dispose of Tatu to escape, whenever killing him myself or getting someone else to do it. But I didn't expect to find anyone else like him. I've only ever known one other being who ever truly understood us, who ever accepted us for who we were, who didn't try to kill us on sight, or change us, or spit on us, or some other shit. When she met him, before, when I had yet to be split from her mind, she begged him to let her serve him. All she wanted, in the end, was for someone to accept her, and if that meant she smiled and took whatever punishments he dealt when he was in a bad mood or when she annoyed him, she was more then happy to take it.

Tira turned away from Gavrill at this point. My other half is, to be frank, a moron. She's naïve beyond belief, prone to random, pointless shit like this blood graffiti, constantly insists on doing the stupidest things. But, as much as I hate her, she is still part of me. We weren't always like this. And, as much as I loathe to admit it, I've done what I can to make her happy. That's why I let her indulge in her stupid fucking antics when she's not trying to kill someone, you see.

"Mmm. I think I prefer you like this anyway. It isn't hard for me to accept her... and you."

For one moment Gavrill called Sokka to mind, then shook her head irritably, dismissing the thought.

"I know some people think it's impossible to get close to me, but they're wrong. Really, it couldn't be simpler. It boils down to one question: 'do you have a problem with anything I do?' If you don't, we can get along fine. It's funny how so many people, people who like to think of themselves as clever, or normal... they just don't get it. But you do."

She looked down at the shorter woman, her head tilted to one side like a bird. The side of her mouth curled into a small smile, exposing a glimpse of her jagged teeth.

"She wants to serve, to be accepted, to indulge herself. You want to kill things. I'm happy to give you both what you want, and more. I can be generous, when the mood takes me. Especially when all the things you want are things I want to see you have."

She moved forwards and leaned in close, now speaking quietly in Tira's ear.

"So tell me now... what else do you want?"

Gloomy paused in what she was going to say next as she considered the question carefully. What do I want? Hmm.....You might find this funny, but I'm really not sure. No one, not even her, ever really cared enough to ask me what I wanted. In truth? There's not all that much I do want beyond blood and her happiness. I never really fully understood how exactly it happened beyond Soul Edge's power shattering our mind, but like I said, I wasn't always like this. I won't bore you with all the dirty details unless you really want to hear them, but her childhood was incredibly.....unhappy. They took her, changed her to what they wanted, used her as nothing more then a disposable weapon. At some point, I think this is when I was.....born, for lack of a better word. A second half of her, born to keep that childish innocence intact. You've seen her, she wouldn't last more then a week on her own without ending up dead on the street. Perhaps, somewhere deep, deep inside, she understood this, and unconsciously created me to act as a sort of guardian while keeping her own self, her own childish fantasies, intact. As I said, the details from before the split are fuzzy, and she certainly won't ever understand enough to tell me.

Gloomy shook her head, trying her best to remove these unusual feelings of sadness and melancholy from her head. I only told you that so you could understand who, what we are. I've never told anyone else that before, probably never will. She glanced at the portal between worlds. There is nothing for us back in our world. I have no reason to return. She looks up to you, as a friend, a mentor, someone just like her.....us. All she.....and I, want, is to come with you. Wherever you are going, whatever your plans are, I am sure we will all get what we want out of it.

That was... quite a lot to take in. Gavrill wasn't particularly experienced in dealing with emotional outbursts, although she was getting more and more directed at her these days.

"Well, what's done is done. I can't tell you why you are the way you are, or how it happened."

Gavrill ran a hand through her hair, sighing.

"I'm shit at this sort of thing, I truly am. But it really doesn't matter to me who or what made you this way, and it shouldn't matter to you either. You're better than that, you're more than, than-"

She smiled as she found the appropriate words.

"-the sum of your parts."

Tira's face shifted again as Jolly took back control, with a giant smile on her face. Ohhhh, thank you thank you thank you Gavy! We're going to have so much fun, I already know it! Tira quickly grabbed her hand and started walking toward the portal, unaware of or just not caring about what Gloomy had been saying a moment ago. All she wanted was to have fun with her new best friend in the multiverse.
