So, maybe I'm just being lazy, but I really like the TV format and style of writing, and really stink at writing when it's just me in a room. I like the idea of structuring the stories together and doing rough scripts, but other people doing passes and quips would be kinda cool. If I to get a bunch of us to start writing something collabrative, how would I go about doing that? Could I set up a wikia or an irc room, or stick to the forum?

I had suggested the possibility of having a Writer's Block chatroom sometime in the past.

If there's enough support for it, I can set it up.

...Wait, are you talking about a collab project? Well, we have at least three floating around the forums—only one managed to get past the planning stage. It takes lots of effort to set such a project up.

But I still like the idea of a Writer's Block chatroom.

Well, there's Google Doc for collaborative writing.

Most likely IRC, I guess.

I have a couple concepts in mind, but I won't want to attach anything to it until a model for how we work is nailed down. Mostly because I'm a self-loathing screenwriter that has no faith in his ideas and would cave to the first person who jacked any team I put together. :/

Google Docs is cool, but it's a pain in the rear to do anything with a format. I guess Celtx Studio could be used, but what I want is a system where I can get a team together, someone has their idea and have it arched out with their beats, and have help filling in the frame, with sub arcs and beats. Then once the scripts start flying, we all take cracks at it until one floats to the top, someone makes a call, and we shelve it, produce it over Skype, and see what happens.

You can also use the Troper Covens subforum for collab efforts.

[up] Thanks Madrugada. Failed a spot check when I went looking for it, but I got it now. Ctrl+F and all.

Regarding Template, I think I'm going to go with Mind-meister for outlining and Google Docs Templates for the actual script. Either Celtx Studio or Celtx w/ Dropbox as a standby.

Far as settings go, I'm open to suggestions. Top docket is a Star Trek Academy-esque setting where there are major incentives in play to join the Space Navy through privileges, subsidized space travel, and robots taking the manual labor force. With other college tropes in play, the fun involved when you must learn ALL the science, and Federation ideals turned on their heads, I think we could get somewhere.

Runner up is sort of like the Protectors Of The Plot Continuum in the style of The It Crowd, where the guys are in an nondescript comic book universe, and our main character is keeper of continuity with the help of his friends, keeping the masquerades from getting on each other toes, and managing continuity rewrites from the top.

Basic interest check on either of those, and who wants to tryout and join my team.
