It's simple: Come up with a name for a genre of Future Music (if you wanna smush two or more words together to do so, that's fine); give a brief description of it, and mention a (fake) hit from that genre.

Is everybody ready? *

Let's begin:

  • TECHNOPERA: Imagine an opera singer set to a techno soundtrack. (And I mean a GOOD opera singer, like Prince Poppycock). The classic technopera song "Jovian Tribute #8" was one of the biggest hits of 2755.

Embroiled in slave rebellion, I escaped crucifixion simply by declaring 'I am Vito', everyone else apparently being called 'Spartacus'.

I did that already.

I also actually made two songs about it.

From the trope page:

*Children of Men has ex-photojournalist rebel Jasper entertaining his younger counterpart Theo with some delightful Zen music from Twenty Minutes into the Future... it sounds like traditional drums mixed with guttural punk screaming all being scratched by a DJ. Have a listen.

  • That track is actually called "Omgyjya Switch 7" by Aphex Twin from his 2001 album drukQs.

Richard D. James is the future.

To actually follow the OP:

Unnamed future music genre will rather jazzy with synthesizer sounds that would be difficult to replicate with modern softsynths.

The 5 geek social fallacies. Know them well.

Something I'm writing, that takes place in the 2040's, actually has this.

It's unceremoniously called stomp—after the rather physically demanding variety of clubdance with which the genre is associated.

The definition of stomp is actually rather loose and broad. All it is is electronic music with a very strong, heavy, "slappy" beat—a lot of latter Depeche Mode already falls into this category.

A song mentioned in the story is by a fictional band Eardrum Assault, and is called "Blank Brotherhood".

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.

Trigphone.

It's phone sounds and conversations played in time signatures put through sine and cosine laws.

Then there's proto post-ersatz progresssive trigphone with pseudo-nucelt influences, which is me and my group of friends' attempt at making the most ridiculous genre ever.

If you don't like a single Frank Ocean song, you have no soul.

Is electro-baroque pop a genre?

Bascially, combine synths and classical instruments and make it fit for the pop or alternate circuit.

Sufjan Stevens already did that on The Age of Adz. I bet he wasn't the first either.

I didn't write any of that.
