Many of these really aren't demonstrative at all.

Are all of the pictures really needed?

Not really, and the whole thing as it stands should be a Useful Notes page if we keep it at all. The "Hollywood X" tropes are the typical oversimplifications of complex things, not detaile4d analysis of the complexities in reality.

Hollywood Personality Disorders sould be things like "Schizophrenics hear voices and talk to themselves." "Addictive Personality Disorder means that you become instantly hooked on anything you try — first time, every time." "OCD is the obsessive need to clean or count things." or "Bipolar Personality Disorder (Manic-Depressive) means that you instantly swing from incredibly energetic and happy to sulking and crying at the drop of a hat, and for no reason."

Epic fail right there...I meant the pic at the top of the page. I remember when I was looking through this thread a few months ago, I didn't have a problem with any of the pics, but if we want to just cut it down to the pic at the top of the page, it wouldn't bother me.

Does the rule about JAFAAC even apply to subsections of a Useful Notes page?

So we should decide which ones are worth keeping and go from there?

Although I understand that they're difficult to demonstrate in a single image, the ones for dependent PD, avoidant PD, borderline PD, and schizoid PD don't really say much about their respective subjects.

Yeah, I don't really see much the point of most of those pictures.

I almost made the same mistake as Willbyr... The pic on the top of the page is awesome, but then I realised that we have more, less fantastic images below.

Yeah. This is rather too Useful Notes-ish.

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.

Somehow I find the picture of the Joker from The Dark Knight saga to be fitting enough for his section, but the rest of them are just JAFAAC.

I'd protest the removal of Narcissus, but that is just one low quality image.

I thought we'd decided to rename this, since it's not a "Hollywood X" page. And the pictures are kind of trivialising as well as non-illustrative: do we really want to compare real people (who may be reading this page) with real-world mental problems to characters like Anakin Skywalker or the Joker?

Yeah, I don't really like that either, seems unsavory. tongue

Page action crowner to pull the pics in the descriptions, or just a simple vote?

Simple vote should work. I say pull the images (besides the one on top, obviously).

They're not all JAFAAC, but pull all except the first.

It looks like there is consensus. How long does it take to pull the pictures? Maybe we could move the picture of the joker to The Sociopath page.

I think most of the images where poor at explaining the personality disorder, except the images of Narcissus and the Joker.

Not really, and the whole thing as it stands should be a Useful Notes page if we keep it at all. The "Hollywood X" tropes are the typical oversimplifications of complex things, not detaile4d analysis of the complexities in reality.

This used to be under useful notes, but there was a TRS discussion that decided on the rename.

Does this thread still need to remain open?
