If you feel like working through a shorter story, you could also try Memories, which would actually be helpful since we can make changes and improve things based on how much you tear the story to shreads.

Hmmm, do need a new Fo E fic to read......

Well, I binged on everything from the death of the godess till now, and I'm, more than usual, shocked and amazed at the quality of Somber's writing. I've spent a long time away from fics, trying to read 'classics' of all kinds. They fall short, so very short. The sense of reality, of immersion, it's so intense. I found myself caring a lot about these characters and their fates. I just couldn't stop reading. Real Life took a backseat to made-up ponies in a made-up wasteland. Very strange.

There's actually another strange thing that fell into my mind recently:

If we set in mind the five most well know fics from Fo E we can find out that the main protagonists of them have some pretty visible parallels with the mane six. For example:

-Littlepip it's The Twilight Sparkle

-Blackjack is The Rainbow Dash (to an extent)

-Silver Storm(Hired Gun is The Applejack

-Puppysmiles is The Pinkie Pie

-Murky is the Fluttershy

Seriously, all we need now is The Rarity of the situation and we pretty much the ideal "mane six of The Wasteland". Do you perhaps know an ideal pretender for the title?

What do you mean by "the X" Like them in personality? Element? How so? Cause, Littlepip has more in common with Rarity then Twilight.

Yeah, really not seeing anything in common between Littlepip and Rarity. Twilight I can see.

Velvet Remedy is plenty like Rarity, but not Littlepip.

Littlepip is Scootaloo. Calamity is Apple Bloom. Velvet Remedy is Sweetie Belle.

Personality, no. Deeper down, yes. Mostly due to the rather close link between Generosity and Sacrifice.

Sacrifice is more Bwackjack's thing.

Nah, Blackjack is Corrupted Sacrifice, if anything.

The whole Corrpted X seriously bugs me. Also by the end of the story there's nothing corrupted about it.

Insert my customary quip about Littlepip not really having enough Kindness to corrupt.

At the current point of the story Blackjack has stopped sacrificing so much, because she's realized how harmful her previous actions have been. She's been doing more things for her own sake and she's been letting people help her out.

I could see the whole Littlepip = Rarity thing but then the story made a deal about how her virtue was Sacrifice. Which even if it is related to Generosity it is still supposed to be distinct from it too.

Going off that line of thought though I remember that Kkat mentioned that the character's in the story had clear traits drawn from the Mane 6. Calamity is supposed to be a amalgamation of Rainbow Dash and Applejack, Velvet is Rarity and Fluttershy, and Pip is Twilight and...Pinkie Pie. I...don't really see much of Pinkie there, but it does create some major pathos in the scene where Pip relates Pinkie's recording to Twilight. ^{As well as possibly insinuating Kkat supports Rarijack and Rainbow Shy. <_<}

Hence why I specified the link. They are separate, yet related.

Do disagree with corrupted Kindness, but, just because I don't see Littlepip as being corrupted anything. I took it just as The Goddess fucking with her head.

And of course, gotta make the PH character be as bigger and more, everything then the real ones....

Can we agree about Silver Storm virtue? I vote for determinations (but also not sure about corrupted one).

I mean personality wise. And yeah, Pip have really nothing to do with Rarity; though to be fair, she doesn't have much of Twilight either, if not her awkwardness. Since she's the spark though, she still fits.

But there is nothing much honest about her, not even as something driving her into corrupted version. She even lie about her name most of time.

I recall that there was someone who did artworks things of the protags of the "Big Five," coupled with quotes from the story. Silver Storm was "Compassion," IIRC. Murky was Hope, Littlepip was Sacrifice, Blackjack was Perseverence, and Puppysmiles was Innocence.
