This thread's for all of the X-Men comics and spin-offs (X-Force, X-Factor, New Mutants etc.), whether they're decades old or brand new.
- Apart from the main Marvel Universe titles, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men 2099, X-Men "What If?" stories, crossovers, guest appearances in other books, Alternate Universe tales and things like Marvel's manga adaptations are all on-topic here.
- X-Men 'family' books are on-topic (as are their own crossovers, guest appearances etc.) - e.g. Wolverine, Deadpool, Ms. Marvel and Cable.
- Characters and comics that originated in X-Men and its related books but are no longer connected to the franchise are not on-topic, unless you're discussing historical connections and crossovers. If in doubt, check before you write a long post. If this isn't the right place, there's a more general Marvel Comics thread which covers them.
Technically, Marvel's Infinity Comics (and their predecessors, Infinite Comics) are webcomics, not comic books, but it's fine to talk about their X-Men related stories here.
Discussions that are only about X-Men adaptations in other media (films, video games etc.) are off-topic, but discussing the differences between the adaptations and the original comics is fine - as long as spoilers for the adaptations are tagged.
Please follow the spoiler policy rules - tag spoilers for the latest issues, for any previews or content leaks, and for off-topic comics. When including spoiler tags, try to write so that tropers can make an informed decision before viewing them (e.g. which series and issue will they spoil?).
I have to say that the X Men franchise has been going on for decades. Maybe not as many as the Superman franchise has, but it still has quite a number to it.
One thing I am certain of is that the franchise seems to be subverting Status Quo Is God in recent years. Magneto and Professor Xavier seem to be fading into the background, with Cyclops and Wolverine taking their places. A lot of villains associated to the X-Men have been killed off and have actually stayed dead so far.
All this gives me the general impression that the franchise is trying to reinvent itself. Do you think that's what's going on here?

I really hope they don't turn Scott into Apocalypse. Because that would be yet another recycled plot.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.& considering the quality of comics these days especially ones that shill him as the villain it prolly will be very very bad.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."exactly. we are already getting civil war 2, and mutants are near extinct again, why not do yet another crappy plotline
What isn't recycled these days? The X-Men were already an endangered species nearly ten freaking years ago. The Avengers have been disassembled yet again, and are reborn with a slew of new members yet again. And this isn't the first time the FF have been MIA. This isn't just a problem with X-Men; this is a problem with Marvel and perhaps mainstream comics in general as a whole.
We already had Civil War 2, only in that one, the X-Men were able to get in on the act.

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundWait is Civil War getting another version?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.",no there was a postcard at the last big con with falcap fighting tony with civil war 2 on it.
Sort of. Steve, Sam, and Bucky are all going to be going up against each other next February, each leading their own teams of Avengers. It isn't quite as large scale as Civil War, but it's still heroes fighting other heroes nonetheless.
...WHY?!

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundDC has a lot of problems but at least there heroes fight actual villains most of the time.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I really don't like Jean. Revealing people's secrets just because you are a telepath like really???
Indie game designer/programmer and screenwriter. I like taking pictures and making picturesShe's gotten better during Lemire's run - now she asks permission before going into your head.
So, if one was to read 3 Deadpool books before the new movie which 3 would you pick? I've heard good stuff about the Kelly, Duggan/Posehn, Benson and Simone runs.
I will always recommend Joe Kelly as the Deadpool writer. I've been dissatisfied, to one extent or another, with literally every other take on the character. Joe Kelly writes the definitive Deadpool.

X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.kelly, nizecia, and duggan/poshen.
I've started reading Kelly again and it's honestly not that great.
Are you looking for a fight? Is that what's going on here? Because I will fight you.
More seriously, the story in Kelly's run was generally pretty stupid. But the character himself was fantastic. No one wrote a more interesting take on the character, even if the plot was . . . not great.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.no. I just got into Deadpool with Ca D during Civil War, and to me that is my definitive version. But im starting to like Duggan's more. Kelly while still pretty good to me, isn't as good as the others.
but kelly's run is what the movie is gonna be like so that's the best place to start.
I would say that Gail Simone's run is awesome, although it doesn't do the same things as the others. Mainly Simone does her own thing, which is fantastic, but she's also stymied by the fact that Deadpool was actually cancelled after she began writing it. She had to continue the story in a book called Agent X.
Simone's Agent X was good, but it wasn't Deadpool.
No, really, it wasn't. It really was a different character.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.Yeah, I know, but Deadpool does eventually come back in the pages of Agent X. And I love Alex, anyway.
I second the recommendation of Joe Kelly's run. Bought the omnibus a while back, and loved it. While there are a few parts where it gets to be a drag to get through (like when it's clear that they're holding off on the LL&L arc for later), but it's one of my favorite runs in Marvel, period.
I also really enjoyed "Cable & Deadpool". 'Pool did get a bit Flanderized, but there was still that theme of "merc unhappy with his life and trying to become a better person thanks to the influence of someone he has feelings for" that Kelly did so well with. And I absolutely love the Book Ends of the first and final issues.
I tried reading Daniel Way's run after that, and had to stop after a few issues. Do NOT read those. It actually turned me off of the character for a while, so while I hear there's been some good stories since then, I haven't read any.
Weird in a Can (updated M-F)Yeah, Waypool was so awful. And the worst part was, a whole bunch of other Deadpool comics came out at that point, all similarly awful. So there was Deadpool everywhere, and none of it was readable. It was frustrating.
X-Men X-Pert, my blog where I talk about X-Men comics.*Sigh* When I check out the comics these days it seems either AU X-Men or stuff with Avengers. I don't hate it, but I do kind of miss the old days. It also makes me miss X-Men cartoons like the 90's show or Evolution.
Mileena MadnessThat really sucks; until Marvel and Fox can eat at the same table, that was the closest thing I had to a new X-Men cartoon
I just read the new extraordinary x-men and man storm is kinda a dickish leader. "Hey Logan I know that you killed all the x-men and feel bad but I need you to kill some X-Men for me"
So either Evan is turning rvil. Again. Or he is going to be fighting an evil apocalypse who I'm guessing is going to be scott.
