The good ship Ozymandias slid through space in the outskirts of the Crescent Nebula, its cargo bay filled with salvage. It was unremarkable loot but getting it had been easy. Approximating such a state in a non-heliocentric situation was tricky, but the lights were dimmed in all areas, and for all intents and purposes, it was night on the ship. For that reason, nobody gave the unremarkable-looking freight ship a second glance, until it opened fire. The attack was sudden and brutal, the Ozymandias' shields held, at least initially, but the attack did not go unnoticed.

The impact was a wake up call. Before seconds had passed, the corridors of the Ozzy was filled with frantic shouts of confusion, fear or, in the case of the blue-skinned lady who waded through the chaos, anger. Una's night shift had just turned hectic. She waded through the torrents of crew As she passed a data panel, it shorted out, sending out a surge of energy that missed the man working by it by mere inches. "Keep your chin up, Rojo." Una said with nary a sidewards glance as she moved past him, clicking her omnitool. The young man took a long look at the panel before resuming his attempts at whatever he was doing.

"Una here, we're under attack. No attempts at boarding has been detected, so it probably ain't pirates," She spoke into the omnitool, broadcasting to all personel, before the whole ship shook with impact. "They're not here for cuddles though." She swayed with the motion of the ship, but kept her balance, going straight to the bridge. "Goddamn varrenfuckers." She turned to her omnitool again. "Everyone not putting out or doling out fire meet me at disembark... scratch that, everyone not putting out or doling out fire, start putting out or doling out fire." The door to the bridge slid open. "Who the azure-licking skydiving pureblooded hell did we piss off this time?" She cast a look around on the bridge, trying to get the hold of the situation.

"Nononononononono NONONO"

Rach'an, understandably, was not having a good time right now. It didn't help that due to the shaking of the ship -And speaking of that, he really needed to figure out which one he was stationed on- and his already bad balance, he was essentially using whatever he was using to put fire out in such an inaccurate manner he was probably hitting passersby more than actually hitting the fire.

Sparks shot out, stigning his upper left eye. Surprisingly, however, he toughed through that long enough to get about 30% of what he was using at the actual damaged area, which was an improvement.

All the while, the muffled repetition of things such as "Nonotnowwhyisthishappening" could be heard if one actually stopped to listen hard enough, which really wouldn't help considering the circumstances.

Similarly, Amy wasn't in a good position either, storming out of her quarters in N7 armor, Revenant in hand.

"Just great...", she muttered, before turning her attemtion to her Omni-tool. "You heard the XO. I want Strike Team at disembark, now!" Amy was well aware this was going past her own command, considering she hadn't been told to do anything by her own superiors. Well, the closest one, anyway. The XO's orders were enough, she figured she'd be sent there anyway, and she might as well be of use.

And, just to followorders even more to the letter, Amy put on Incendiary Ammo

, heading out.

Syven immediately jumped off of bed the moment he felt the ship shake. He'd been awake for a while, but the alarm klaxon made a convincing argument to stop replaying miscellaneous memories in his head and get moving. The second jolt further convinced him of the perilous situation, and he began suiting up.

The last time he'd woken to alarm klaxons, some bonehead had parked a frigate tail-end first through Omega's outside walls. Escaping the district had been less than fun.

The transmission came in as he was checking his suit's seals and grabbing emergency air supply.

"Una here, we're under attack. No attempts at boarding has been detected, so it probably ain't pirates." An impact punctuated the asari's sentence, highlighting her next statement. "They're not here for cuddles though." A pause followed with vulgar-sounding background noise garbling through the line. "Everyone not putting out or doling out fire meet me at disembark... scratch that, everyone not putting out or doling out fire, start putting out or doling out fire."

A different voice immediately responded. "You heard the XO. I want Strike Team at disembark, now!" This was good; the more crew initiative, the less likely the ship would suffer a catastrophic hull failure.

Syven quickly cycled through the channels of transmissions—mostly damage reports instead of incoherent panic, so that was good too—before responding.

"Arioc speaking. Interrogative: should I be with the Strike Team, or at the electronics housing?"

He should've gotten himself assigned to a more permanent post onboard the ship if he'd known he'd be staying for such a long time. For the entire time he'd been aboard, he had performed odds-and-ends duties—sometimes just fixing miscellaneous terminals, sometimes sneaking around with guns, so he did not know which one he'd be asked to do.

Oh well; this was better than Omega, at least.

"Negatory on the strike team." Una replied, leaning on a nonessential console. "They're not approaching us." A quarian typed furiously at her console. "Shield readings at critical" She said, her voice almost a bit too calm. "I know." Una replied. "If you're not in the gunnery department, grab an extinguisher or your omnitool or your goddamn... keep us floating until we can jump." She looked around. "Evasive action and get us to the relay. Plot a jump to... to..." She groaned. "Anyfuckingwhere. And get me the captain on the bridge right fucking now."

"Get to wherever you can-", Amy started, before the XO cut in. "Understood. Scratch that, Arioc, you heard the XO."

She sighed, grabbing a nearby extinguisher and getting to work.

As Jordan suited up in his room, he heard Amy yelling for the strike team at disembark. He figured that he was good enough as he slipped the Death Mask over his head and ensured all of his weapons were loaded, including the BSA Terminator he had scavenged off of a dead slaver on that one planet. If these guys were Batarians, it was time to Vindicate the slaves that made this - no pun intended.

He began jogging towards the disembark point, pulling the Mattock off his back and setting it to Incendiary Ammo as he ran. It was a difficult fit to get incends in there anyway, but he had managed it.

In the med-bay, Marik pushed himself off the floor of his office. How long was I dozing for? At least that tremor knocked me off my chair... The turian tensed, rushing out of the med-bay. Idiot! Tremors don't happen on ships! We're under attack!

Jake hurried out of his cabin decked out in full gear, well, full gear except for his Recon Hood as soon as he heard the message and started to help in fighting the fires "Oh, bloody..." He did not like this one bit and it could easily be told by looking at his face and seeing that it lacked his usual smirk.
He slowly started to make his way towards the bridge, helping in putting out fires on his way

Marik bumped into Jordan, who stumbled back a bit.

"Whoa, Marik! Where you headed?"

The doors to the bridge swung open, and through them came the captain of the ship. She had been the captain for just over a year now, and it was the first time in a while she and the rest of the ship had been caught off guard.

"Sorry I'm late, my route's on fire. Traffic's awful. What have we got, one enemy, armed to the teeth by the looks of it? We've got our own guns, shoot back!"

In his own quarters, Adenn had switched his terminal over to the bridge's network, it was quicker and safer than heading up there himself. The terminal glowed red to indicate this. He broadcasted his voice to the bridge

"Remaining here for own safety. Testing audio."

"Aye." Una said, clicking her omnitool. "Weapon systems are authorized, fire at will. Give us some cover. Concentrate on the... guns." As she spoke, the outter bulkheads of the freighter slid away, revealing a particularly huge canon, apparently mounted with a flagrant disrespect for structural integrity and aesthetic sensibilities. "Ok, now that's just bullshit."

Marik shook his head. Impacting with Jordan was nearly as bad as the earlier tremor.

"I'm not really sure, to be honest. Trying to understand the situation." Considering I just got up, logic isn't exactly with me.

"We're being attacked. Not sure why, but they said everyone on the strike team needs to get down to disembark. I think that might mean you, and if it does, go grab your shit. I'm heading down there. See you there, Marik."

With that, Jordan moved past him and went off towards disembark.

What? Are we being boarded?

Marik shrugged and headed towards his room anyways. It never hurts to be cautious. It's better that I be prepared in case my crew needs me. I can't let them down because of laziness.

The turian put on his Phantom Armor and holstered his Predator. Why I carry this, I have no idea. I suppose I could use it to intimidate foes, as long as they don't know about my marksmanship.

With that, Marik rushed towards the bridge, figuring that would be the place to confirm the situation.

One of the quarians working at navigation looked away from her screen, scouting for Una or Kate. "Approaching relay, we need a destination." Una gritted her teeth, a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead. The attacks from the enemy ship had ceased, but in return, the big gun was glowing ominously. "I... uh..." Una frowned, her eyes darting around restlessly.

Marik stumbled into the bridge. "What's going on-" He noticed the large glowing cannon pointed at them. "We're not being boarded, are we?" he whimpered before his training kicked in. "We need to get out quick!" shouted the Doctor.

Jake reached out to whack Marik in the back of the head "Shut up. Nothing good ever comes from panicing." He told him and glared into the turians eyes "Go help put out the fires or help the wounded ones instead of yelling."

Marik stiffened as he realized the truth of Jake's words. People could be concussed right now and here I am startling the bridge crew he thought. "Right. Pardon my interruption, all." He rushed off the bridge and began searching for downed crew members.

I hope that smack didn't hurt Jake's hand much. He's tough, but those humans have such flimsy carapaces compared to us turians.

Syven broke down his stride, sidestepping out of the way as two crewmen rushed past him. He grabbed the shoulder of the human at a nearby console as he came to a stop.

"Damage report."

"Superstructure's holding up. Hull breach in deck 4 near the engine compartment but it's contained. Shields at minimum power..."

Suddenly, a sickly whirr came from somewhere inside the console. The next instant, the holo-display twisted and began shuffling itself rapidly, displaying nonsense.

"Shit. Now what?" The human grumbled, vainly looking for something he could put a finger on over the screen.

"Set power to AUX."

The man stared at him for a second. Not waiting for a reply, Syven ducked under the console, and opened the metal panel below it. The man was quick enough on the uptake to duck down after him, observing his motions closely.

The switch, the switch. Where was it... ah!

Syven flipped the power setting switch to its auxiliary setting. The console immediately cured itself of its surge-induced schizophrenia, displaying sense again.

"Thanks." The man spoke. "Shields at minimum power, and—goddamnit! Engineers be advised: fire suppressant line to thruster 2 is ruptured at section 3!"

The Ozymandias was closing in on the Mass Relay, the Element Zero Core was revving up, and furious coordinate typing ensued on the bridge, the klaxons blared as the massive antiship weapon reached the zenith of its charge, releasing a massive blast of blinding light and force.

Una could scarcely register herself choke out... something before the impact rocked the whole ship with such intensity to make the initial attack feel like a love tap. Energy channels overloaded shipwide as the entire shield system was burned out, life support took a hit and an entire section of nonessential interior was turned into new, redundant exterior, and the lights went out in large parts of the ship. But the engines held, and with a streak of blue mass effect field, the Ozzy fled from the follow-up attack, their destination uncertain.

The rocking made Jordan fall over. Grunting, he looked up, only to have a toolbox fall on his head.

Jordan's Death Mask kept him from suffering severe damage, but the impact knocked him out anyways.

Marik had just finished administering care to an unconscious human engineer when the ship shook violently again, knocking him against the wall. He subconsciously created a Barrier around himself, which kept the impact from knocking him out, though he was still in a lot of pain. Why couldn't I have slept through that?

Syven blinked. A good deal of the past few minutes registered as blank in his head.

"... Son of a bitch. Son of a stoned koala..." he could hear distant mumbling.

As he clambered up, his mind suddenly flashed back on him: they'd suffered some major impact. A flaring pain in the back of his head returned with the memory, reminding him that his head had also suffered a major impact.

Should've worn armor, he thought.

The lights had sparked out—only the ominous red of the emergency lighting remained. The console, thankfully, was still operational; judging by its indication of the ship's velocity, Syven guessed that they had reached the relay in time. The rest of the info wasn't so upbeat; major hull breaches had been detected in the middle decks, too close to life support for comfort.

"Arioc to bridge. What just happened?"
