Feh, if it's the inferior PSX copy of Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI, then why even bother? Just port the GBA versions. They're the superior and far more accurate versions. Also have better music.

"Chrono Cross"

Is Chrono Trigger or Cross supposed to be better? I forgot about that feud every since yellalot's been axed from this place.

Trigger is generally considered to be the better game. Cross is...well, the codifier for Contested Sequel.

It's too bad they can't choose rpg's like Final Fantasy III, Crono Trigger, and something else.

Or atleast FFIII, V, and Cross. VI is beyond easy to find. A translation of III would've been great.

I pretty much have all of these already. And for the PSX as is. Cross wasn't as well accepted, making it an odd choice. III gets little love as is. Just a remake on the DS that actually changes the gameplay, so it has a variation of how much it's liked.

When I read the title Thread I thought square was refusing to release rpg's on psn.

Chrono Trigger was released on the PSN a few weeks ago. And it is extremely unlikely that Square Enix will do anything further with FFIII because there's the DS release and the iPad release.

So wait. ...PSX versions of V and VI? Didn't those suck balls?

And Chrono Cross, the game that was basically a really bad Chrono Trigger fanfic?

...Pass.

[up][up]Screw you too, buddy.

Cross had an interesting battle system, but the story was so ridiculously convoluted and had more holes than swiss cheese.

And Chrono trigger's plotline had quite a few gaping holes running about too, and never bothered resolving the whole 'why would they go after lavos if they had stopped lavos" paradox.

Nobody's perfect.

I'm just saying that a game's story might not be that good when it requires an absolutely massive infodump at the end of the game to realize even half of what the plot is about.

[up][up]Trigger goes by the theory that time travelers are immune to the effects of time travel. Hence, they're unaffected by paradoxes (which basically means there are no such paradoxes).

The only real plot hole I can think of is that Marle disappears in the beginning due to her ancestor dieing, something that goes against the above theory the entire rest of the game works off of.

sorta kinda. Given Cross's plot deals with the paradox by creating Time Devourer.

Psh. Like Godwin's Law, it doesn't work if I'm deliberately invoked.

As for the PSX ports of V and VI, well, duh. It's a PSN re-release, they're not going to release titles from a Nintendo platform (especially when Nintendo published the GBA releases...). The Virtual Console releases of IV and VI still used the old "2" and "3" versions. Now, if Nintendo gets off their duffs and makes the 3DS e-store properly, I'd find it odd if IV, V, and VI don't reappear there in their "Advance" incarnations.
