unclear New Crowner 2/10/12: The Beautiful People

Madrugada, would you like to take on fixing the example section as far as reorganizing it and cutting bad examples? Between Or Is It cleanup, creating spin off tropes for other tropes that have been under repair, and school work, I have a lot on my hand.

I can do some of it, but I don't know most of the works listed.

IF this trope is about being beautiful and luxurious, would the Kuchiki clan count?

I think it's worded much better then it used to be. We're ready to close this now, right? We can delete the examples that don't fit as we find them.

So, close on this?

Examples still need to be cleaned up. I did the ones I know, but there are still entries that are simply "really, really pretty" without touching on whether the other aspects — a fabulous life, fabulous wealth, fabulous home, fabulous everything are present. I've starred the thread.

Wicks need to be checked as well, with the tighter definition in mind.

I cleaned up the page, although I think it still might need trimming.

I think it would be best to switch the current name with its redirect. Judging by the examples, people seem to think it means 'beautiful cast, toss everything attractive in.'

That might be a good idea. It certainly couldn't hurt. We still may get faulty examples, but at least there would be fewer of them, because it's harder to justify calling something like "The cast of Supernatural " "elite".

Perhaps this trope should be renamed to The Glamorous People? It's not just focusing on that everyone is attractive (which is a way this trope is usually misused), it means they live a glamorous life, too.

Given that The Beautiful People is a pretty widespread term for this trope out in the real world, I'd argue against renaming except as a last resort.

Redirects are free, though.

We can switch to The Beautiful Elite and leave The Beautiful People as the redirect. With the current name, misuse has been rampant. There were plenty of entries such as 'Everyone in work X', even when the work features characters of completely different social standing. There were even examples about homeless mercenaries and character designs. At least with The Beautiful Elite we can reduce this kind of misuse.

The edits that have been made are good but I don't think this trope is a priority any longer. Only so many TRS are allowed and I think it's about time to make room for others.

Is the work done? Leaving a page half-fixed is pointless.

Would it be acceptable to make an Alternative Title Crowner to swap with the redirect? This seems to be the only remaining issue at hand, unless there's something else about this trope we must tend to.

Given that there has been some opposition to a rename in this thread, I think it would make more sense to start with a single proposition rename crowner first, so there is now one of those here. I might be wrong about that though.

The Beautiful Elite sounds more to the point. I like it.

I've hooked the crowner, and removed the "consensus reached; work remains to be done" asterisk from the thread.

Bumping for votes, although the crowner seems pretty stable.

Can we call this? It seems rename is supported greatly.

This trope is not about beauty alone. The Beautiful Elite sounds good.
