What games made you happy recently? For me, it was this thing.

It's hard, but not too hard. It's cute, but not sickeningly so. And most of all, it was played straight. There were no Eversion-esque twists, no turning out to be the villain all along, no screamers. It was just a good old-school platformer.

So, TV Tropes, what games have made you just plain smile?

I picked up Mario Party DS just yesterday. I love the cute, miniaturized boards in it. Especially the music room, which made my music-loving sister geek out.

Also, the Chao Gardens in the Sonic Adventure games (and Sonic Advance, in a way) never fail to make me all smiley and happy.

Epic Battle Fantasy 3 and Transcendence are games that I recommend. The 1st is a JRPG sort of game, that is well designed and humourous at times. The other is Star Control if the Nethack guys got a hold of it. Seriously It needs more love.

Try Secret Of Mana. It really gives you that feeling of nostalgia.

[up][up] Oh yeah, Epic Battle Fantasy 3 was just fun all the way through. Even the whacked-out final boss couldn't spoil my good mood.

Seconding Kirby - they're probably the purest distillation of Happy Fun Game.

Little Big Planet is great at de-stressing me, just because it's just a blast to play through again. Just stick it in my PS3, load it up and have some stress-less fun.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.
