So, episode 4.
Are the paper planes in the OP a reference to the oneshot, or are they relevant to someone's backstory in this version too?
Wait a moment... Ruri... short... deadpanning cute voice... perceptive... calls people out on being 'Idiots'... I wonder...
Onodera and Raku are so Captain Squid and Lure Lass.
... Oh. So this is what Arha was complaining about when he mentioned the 'vulnerable' part. Yeah...
Oh, Japan, when will you get your facts straight about greetings in other countries.
Not as good as 3 or 1, but still better than 2. Also, somehow it felt like the shortest episode yet, and yet it was feeling like lagging towards the end. Chitoge had plenty of cute moments (disregarding the scared part), but she also felt at her most aggravating yet. Not awful level, but still came off as mostly ungrateful.
^^ The gangsters asked Raku for proof that he's really going out with her and ask about her tastes, so he says she likes bananas and enka. She hates both, but has to pretend that she loves them. So that was supposed to be a Brick Joke but they cut out the brick.
^ The kisses on the cheek thing? I think some places do do that, but America isn't one of them. Not even close. But it's not like Japan really cares if it gets the details about us right.
Not like other countries often do the courtesy for other countries either...
We're all equal-opportunity ignorant people here.
My Twitch.Hey, I at least know that Japanese greetings all involve groping schoolgirls on trains.
What are you talking about? It's always crashing into a girl while she's late for school/work!
My Twitch. No, no, that's how girls greet guys. I'm not a girl, so I have to grope her in return.
Ah, I see. And a Megaton Punch is her asking the guy out on a date. Japanese culture is so enriching!
My Twitch.First you have to walk into the guy's bathroom without telling him first and take a bath there while you leave the door unlocked. Then, you Megaton Punch him when he walks in. That's the full proper procedure.
Yeah after that you have it in the bag. After all the fastest way to a man's heart is through left hook.
This reminds me of how Wizard Barristers merged the East and West coasts of America and then screwed up Canada's topology, all in one episode. Followed immediately by acting as if a heavily-blended society like Canada would even care if someone was half-Japanese. (On an unrelated note, go watch the TV version of episode 11 of that show. Go on.)

It's probably more tolerable for Japan to get other cultures horribly wrong when they aren't pretending that they're actually right, like every American being a rich excitable blue eyed blond haired tsundere. And I just realized that I described Chitoge with that, didn't I?
I forget, did Haruna ever actively sabotage her own chances?
Edit: Man, the anime is doing a good job of reminding me just how unsympathetic and horrible Marika is. And the Nisekoi building lock system opens up into elevator Shaft.

Haruna did the 'Wishing Lala and Rito happiness and commenting they make a cute couple' gig a few times, but not as much as Omodera seems to.
Suddenly, Episode 5. I am so much slower than Arha...
I get the impression the story, at least the core triangle, would get solved in like four chapters if it was Raku/Chitoge/Ruri instead of Raku/Chitoge/Omodera. She DIRECTLY ASKS the pertinent questions! Unheard of!
Why Chitoge's bows don't flop down after she goes through the full lenght of a swimming pool? Are they starched or something?
I'm kinda amazed they aren't noticing Raku's boner at this point, frankly. I mean, wow, that inner dialogue.
Onodera, you should have said that before they would beat him up.
I can see where this is going...
If she really were drowning, she'd be dead by now!
... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there it is. Sigh.
Were they beaten with the exact same stick on the exact same spot of their heads the exact same day? I mean, come on. That's too much of a coincidence.
Oh, what the fuck. Way to lose points. I mean, at least wait a few episodes. He just saved your fucking life and he wasn't saying anything. I really detested this scene, because it's so fucking gratuitous and I really want to like Chitoge, yet if anything she keeps getting worse. Not Naru level yet, but dammit.
Okay, the joke with the Yakuza and the chocolate is REALLY funny.
Grow a fucking spine, Onodera.
Wait, so they are in New Year already? No Kurisumasu episode, then?
So-so episode, saved by the visuals (not only the fanservice) and Miyamoto, who previously hadn't really struck me as a character. Chitoge was perhaps at her worst so far (even if the really bad moments only happened near the end), while Onodera at least was inoffensively bland and her swimming progressed more in a single episode/night than Tendo Akane or Morisato Keiichi would in all their series combined.
Edit: Ah. Started Episode 6, and she DIDN'T KNOW, which gives her a lot of points back. Sorry, girl. Although that only makes everyone else around her an idiot for not telling her before. I mean, that's kinda a must after someone has saved someone else. I suppose Miyamoto might be kinda excused since she doesn't want Chitoge and Raku to get closer, but wow, everyone else, wow. I think I'll leave the rest of Episode 6 for tomorrow.

The pool situation gets resolved much better in the next episode.
Ha, I win at the contest of... having more free time since I have nothing to do here except wait to hear back on job applications.
I find it odd that she can drown so quickly in a pool that shallow.
You know, as far as the play goes, I kind of wish the author had used the names of actual character from the play like Rosaline and Tybalt. They'd do still the exact same absurd things, but it would please me to see people actually remember that characters like those exist. ...Okay, so Rosaline was just sorta mentioned but it would have been an appropriate appearance!
I sorta wished that too but Rosaline doesn't like Romeo and Tybalt doesn't have a thing for incest I don't think. It's not like they follow the plot that closely anyway.
And you'd be surprised how fast people can drown. I'd know.
I know, and I wouldn't want them actually acting any more in character than they actually were acting. I just wanted to see recognition that they existed. Besides, Friedrich didn't say anything incestuous. Then again, that removes at least one of the jokes from the entire thing.
And I know people can drown fast. Quietly, too. It just seems funny to me.
This new chapter is the best I've seen in forever. Lost my shit repeatedly. And the ending bodes for more fun times.

The worst. Literally the worst. Massive shipper. Also a Bay12 Denizen. The mysterious journalist finally appears! Really weird she didn't pop up in the anime. Hope she shows up again.
Did we see her earlier? I can't recall.
And yeah, nice chapter.
She's only shown up in promo material for the anime. For a while I even thought she would be the one to SHAFT things up in the anime.
Fun and cute chapter.
My Twitch.I have no idea who she is.
Don't think we've seen her before. Never seen someone have that type of glasses and not wear them.
No wonder I didn't get that joke.
