Uuugh this translation is practically unreadable.
Best part of the whole chapter was Maiko and Ruri
Claude is weirding me out. He's almost a completely different character in that, recently, you can sort of get behind him a bit.
He's displaying awareness of the goings on that goes beyond the cast's standard thickness, and when you look at his point of view, what he's doing kind of makes sense, even if it is a bit extreme. Raku would look like a bit of an asshole who's just playing around with Chitoge's heart, even if he has someone he likes and likes him back.
Generally, this whole final stretch is the most on-point Nisekoi has ever been. Even when they give the most obvious answers to the big questions.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018I think there's a scene where Ruri's glasses disappear and reappear magically.
And still he doesn't realize it's his boss who put them up to this?
โฆOkay, that was pretty good. Some Jitsuwaesque faces there. I still think it would have been funny if Claude had mistaken Tsugumi for a boy up to the very end, but the scene was worth it.
And Ruri is Ruri. Orโฆ not, actually? I didn't quite expect her to confess right off the bat like that. And that smile. <3
A better translation is out for those who care. Pretty good all around.
Yeah, that was a pretty nice chapter. Also, again with the Deus Ex Marika, casually descending from the heavens.
Fast scan of the new chapter's out, Marika is actually pretty cool. I'm betting next week the SS Onodera is gonna start taking on water.

deviantArt | TwitterSink baby sink, sink that ship.
Psst, piss off, Onodera, shoo, shoo. รจ__รฉ
โฆOkay, I guess that ship needs to be sunk properly first.
So why does everyone here not like Onodera exactly?
Personally, I don't hate her. She's just kinda bland compared to Chitoge.
Where is that Onodera white bread image again.
Because essentially every chapter she's in is incredibly boring. You never really learn anything new about her and she never changes.
Even ignoring the part where I couldn't tell you much of anything about her interests or personality beyond "In love with Raku" and "Gets easily flustered" I literally cannot think of a way that she, personally, has ever impacted the plot.
I'm fairly certain that if you cut her out of the story entirely it would barely change; can anybody think of a time she did something plot-essential?
deviantArt | TwitterShe's a static character whose one note isn't catchy as all, pretty much.
The Shy Kawaii moments lose their luster after awhile. Chitoge and Raku grow thanks to and learn more about each other, while there isn't really as much going on in between Raku and Onodera.
I don't have passionate feelings towards her. You like her, you do you. As an almost perfect manifestation of the stereotypical weebshit's waifu though she's just too fun to make fun of.
She isn't Mari though. At the very least she isn't a creepy clingy stalker type whose obsession is portrayed by the story as "a woman's strength".

"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Agreed, she falls short of Mari as well
They're both kind of obnoxious. Trying to figure out which one is more annoying is pointless.
I actually kinda like Mari, but I'll never know why. I usually really hate the clingy anime girls.
For me, it's not so much Onodera that I dislike, although she is boring. It's more so her relationship with Raku probably being one of the single biggest problems with this manga. Any moment or chapter between these two feels like the plot is being stalled and any progress or development is hindered for awhile.
I mean there are plenty of things that kept the manga from really taking off, but this is worst offense in my opinion. I mean you get chapters and arcs where Chitoge and Raku really start developing as characters or their relationship, they get great and nice moments together. And then Onodera focus comes in and it feels like we're back to square one with Raku's affection for her and Onodera never being able to confess. It's tedious and nothing ever changes between them.
Marika, for all her obnoxiousness, at least knew how to deliver gags and drive chapter plots by the strength of her own personality. Onodera is just kind of there and needs to be surrounded by many, more interesting characters to justify her presence.
I remember that one chapter where Onodera goes around asking people about her strong qualities in order to fill out her career orientation form. They made a whole show out of the all the answers, but they basically all boiled down to "she's nice."
And that's basically all there is to Onodera: inoffensive niceness. They took the "girl next door" concept too far, causing her to commit the gravest of all sins in a comedy series: being dull. Yet, she still gets pushed towards the front of the stage, taking space and time away from characters much more deserving.
Her very person is a mistake that keeps on repeating in this series, and I resent her for it.

It is pretty funny how everyone in Japan seems to adore her, and dislike Chitoge as well.
What? If the popularity polls are anything to go off of both of them are pretty popular.

I dunno about that, Chitoge won the most recent character poll that Shounen Jump did. I don't think the Japanese despise her at all, but it's no secret that for some odd reason Onodera is ridiculously popular. Japan likes their perfect waifus after all.
That being said Chitoge has always gotten high on the polls even if she wasn't #1 for a good portion of them.
