- : The C&H strip is Not An Example.
- : The trope is about a conversation, and is thus text dependent by definition
- : There is nothing confusing about the suggested image. In fact... it's pretty much perfect and sets up the scenario with a minimal amount of text.
If we could add the other two panels before it then the two-way nature of the conversation would be clear, but the text just doesn't resize that small.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.It's not Not An Example. The note reacts to what he does. That's the trope. Tropes Are Flexible, after all.
Rhymes with "Protracted.""or really good prediction of what the viewer will say"
Didn't notice that at first. So it does fit. We might be able to split it off as a Sub-Trope later on, but for now this does allow Calvin as the picture.
What about the caption "This trope comes easy when some people are so predictable."?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.I think the C&H picture could be considered an example. The trope is basically "some form of pre-created media anticipates the reaction of whoever reads/watches it", and the note in the Calvin And Hobbes strip does that.
Reaction Image RepositoryA partial example, yes. The part that's obviously missing is that most examples are functional, two-way conversations from a pre-recorded, one-way medium.
Now we do have two different options, can we crowner that?
Either way, the alternate would make a better page quote than Dilbert.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Most examples turn into two-way conversations, but that's not a requirement of the trope. The only requirement is that the tape or whatever somehow reacts to what the watcher says or does.
Reaction Image RepositoryYeah, but if we can get a picture that relates most directly to the name and first paragraph of the trope, all the better. I'd say the C&H's one makes for a strong runner-up.
Get a slant at this glossary of Pulp Detective terms. It rates. Pipe that? That's entirely true. I'm just saying that I see no problem with putting the Calvin And Hobbes pic up if we can't find a better picture.
Reaction Image RepositoryWhat about Persona 4TW's example? The last two images are basically the trope's opening quote. http://www.drunkduck.com/Persona_4TW/5368582/
Would the first two panels work? Otherwise it's just quote material.
Yeah, unwritten rule number one: follow all the unwritten procedures. - CamacanThe last three might do it.
Fight smart, not fair. That's no better than Dilbert's page quote.
An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.Clock is set.
Originality is overrated, but isn't that exactly the same joke? Like verbatim? Weak.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I still like the Calvin And Hobbes example best.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Clock's up; locking for inactivity/lack of consensus. No further action is to be taken based on this thread.
C&H one works (panel 2 in the crop feels unnecessary) but is simply confusing and too wordy.
