And the news we've all been waiting for: GTA V Next-Gen's new songs.

So, let's see, what has Los Santos Rock Radio gotten...

Welp. That settles it. This new version of GTA V is 101% superior to the old one.

New pop stuff also looks quite good. (I'm a little impressed that they managed to get such high-profile, new songs in there, too, like "Applause" and the like.)

Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.

Will these new additions, minus the first person view stuff that I am really not sure is worth the candle, make it into a patch for the PS 3 version?

Probably not. It's pushing the boundary of the capabilities of the PS 3/360 as it is.

So, 86 minutes after launch of the new edition, and somebody's already found a way to weaponize it to harass women.

I am hardly surprised by that, but this probably isn't the best place to discuss it.

Also, now I have to get the PS 4 version of GTA5, it has awesome songs that I want to listen to while playing, I don't care if I've already beaten GTA5. Also, does anyone else get the post game glitch where trying to access the internet immediately fails and makes it so you can't use phones? I got it after Ending C the first time I played. There's no fix that I know of and I doubt Rockstar's going to fix it. It makes it hard to do the assassination jobs and earn heaps of cash from them when you can't access the stock market without using a link from an email.

[up][up] That's awful and unfortunate that it's being used as an attack, but then again, her detractors use anything as an attack. As undertaken actions, however, it's not surprising.

However, the fora have a moratorium on talking about the continued harassment of Sarkeesian and related persons (Wu, Alexander, etc.) due to the loudness of those that defend the harassment. So, keep that in mind.

And I know I'm talking about it by telling people to not talk about it. If it's an issue, I'll accept the thump without complaint.

Anyway, I don't have a next-gen console and I'm not in a situation where I can get one. My PC might be able to run it but that won't be out for some time. So hopefully I'll be able to play it in some form at some time, but not for some time. sad

One of the new collectables lets you play as different animals. This is why i'm going mad not having the game yet.

The conclusion I've come to is if Anita is really this "evil master manipulator" that the conspiracy theorists makes her out to be, then that makes all the people who attempt to troll her look even dumber.

Is this topic banned? If so, kindly thump. If not:

EDIT: I saw the post more closely. It is an asshole thing to do, undoubtedly, but Anita Sarkeesian is not 'women', she is a woman, unless there was an election somewhere that I didn't hear of.

On features in the new gen version:

If nothing else it seems like it should be possible technically to add the new music to the last gen versions as a patch or DLC. If it's a licensing issue, I'd gladly pay to have the new tracks in there as long as it wasn't too much.

[up]Hmm, fair one. I on the other hand don't want to pay Rockstar a single penny for songs after what happened to my San Andreas purchase a week or so ago when they deleted a double cd album worth of the best songs from the track list. Then again, I am thinking of getting the game second-hand so there's a case of swings and roundabouts as we Brits say. I need to ponder more.

I wonder if they also removed those tracks from the iOS version of San Andreas. I had noticed that version had a problem with the radio where certain stations would never stop playing commercials after progressing through points of the story, which is a deal breaker for me until they patch it. Oh well, at least I'll always have my PS 2 copy.

What they did was this - they swapped the version of San Andreas that was capable of being set to 1080p resolution, and had no problems with saving, and had all the songs, to the 720p locked and missing all the songs piece of garbage that they released on teh Xbawx. Which, if I wanted, I would have bought. Since I didn't buy it, what they did was theft of a perfectly working game and replacement with a horrible one.

That sounds terrible. This is on the Steam version, right? I was considering buying it but now I think I'll give it a miss.

Ugh, that's something that kind of scares me about games going all digital these days. It's kind of unavoidable for PC games though...

For whatever reason, GTA mods are pretty sparse. Actually, only a handful of games in general have an active modding community.

[up] True. You'd think a vast, diverse open world like GTA would attract a lot of modders. Skyrim-style.

The best one i've seen lately is one that allows you to play GTA 3 with a HD filter. That and the New York Tourist Bus one.

It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.

But they exist. And I figure that if this is as much of a travesty as Tam's making it out to be, then a mod to fix it will certainly exist.

Mods shouldn't be needed. This is Rockstar and Valve's fault for stuffing up a perfectly serviceable game. Here's the skinny.

http://www.rockstarnexus.com/article/208/San-Andreas-updated-on-Steam-removes-songs-and-reverts-fixes

Though for the life of me I don't see why the Rockstar Nexus is now saying that the version on Steam HASN'T been changed to the Xbox 360 version, because that's exactly what has happened if you look at the effects on the game, with all the removed resolution settings, save breakages and songs being removed.

And here's the inevitable backlash on the Steam support forum for the game.

The op is taking one hell of a kicking, and I think it's perfectly justified.

The new cars and weapons are definitely good too. It looks like they used the weapons from a couple different updates.

Yeah, I did. I got mixed-to-negative feelings about that. I understand why they did it, but I'm not sure taking it off the shelves was the right move.

Yeah, I don't think it was. I wouldn't call it censorship but I don't think it was a wise move.
