Nemoto wondering if Tomoko's going to be in her class as third years makes me disagree with the interpretation that Nemoto doesn't want to be friends with Tomoko. She does act like a bitch right in front of Tomoko, but that's not any different to how Tomoko acts around Komiyama.
She looks down on Tomoko, but Tomoko is one of the few people she acts like herself around. I see their relationship as more positive than negative at least.
If anything, girl with the fang is probably going to be more antagonistic to Tomoko than Nemoto.
It's also nice to see more of the best friendship in this manga: Tomoko and Yuri. Yuri's even being more expressive around Tomoko.
Chapter 118 is out, in which Tomoko really needs to work on her brain-to-mouth filter. Also, she has what might be her first longer conversation with Okada which might very well be their last longer conversation as well.
It's good to see that something remains the same.
Foot, meet mouth. I'm glad to see that, expanding social circle aside, some things never change with Tomoko.
I love that the most Yuri's gonna do for Tomoko is stick to potentially object if Yoshida just straight up starts beating her.
New chapter is out, but it's mostly just setting things up for the next, obviously unimportant filler chapter.
This chapter in itself has an implied Friendship Moment between Yuri and Yoshida, reappearing background characters, and maybe some hints that Hina might like Tomoko a bit. And speaking of background characters, Ucchi is there too, staring at Tomoko as always - though one might need a moment to notice her.

Chapter 120 is out, in which Tomoko parties hard. Yuri, not so much.
Also, Tomoko has her first longer conversation with a hot guy and it's about dick pics.
Ucchi is getting less subtle all the time.
"Foreign white guys" huh? Think that was a reference to when 4chan sent dick pics to the artist.
So was the spaghetti line (I'm assuming that wasn't something the scanlator's made up)
The scanslation had a mistranslation (now corrected) of Yuri's last line that changed the ending a bit: instead of asking Mako, Tomoko and Yoshida to hang out for longer next time, Yuri actually decides to skip her train home, says she's going to catch the next one and asks the three of them to hang out together for a bit longer right then and there.
As for Ucchi, all I have to say is that I would love to know how she is justifying to herself what she is doing at this point.
Little detail I missed at first: how Kotomi is only barely in that picture Tomoko showed to her classmates.
Oh man, this chapter. Mokocchi barely managed to navigate social interaction with popular kids. How she's grown.
But really, this was mostly Yuri's chapter. Gotta feel for her here.
New chapter; Motoko becoming a happier lady. It’s heartwarming how much better things got for her.
She seems to be keeping face with her oldest friend but more open with her newer ones. She’s also more pleased with her catch, I’d say
It's actually rather nice to see a chapter where Tomoko spends time with her dad in what is effectively his first real appearance in the manga.
He's pretty chill.
Also, the photo she sent to Yuu and the photo she sent to Yuri and Mako really hammers it in that Yuri and Mako feel like closer friends to Tomoko than Yuu.

It's impressive how Mr. Kuroki is still mostly faceless even after that whole chapter.
Chapter 122 is out. New school year, not-so-new class, but a lot of new possibilities. Plus, we get full names of three characters and a very interesting development for Hina.
This might be one of my favourite chapters so far. I don't recall any other chapter that was so much of a rollercoaster, going back and forth between being funny, heartwarming and cringeworthy.
Also, poor Ucchi. She gets separated from her mojyo, and that girl with dot-eyes threatens to usurp her role as the running gag character.
Why am I not surprised that Yoshida has a boyish name — Masaki — but a name with a surprisingly girly way of being written. The kanji used, 茉咲, means... a Jasmine flower.
Kind of fitting for our toughie but softie among Mokocchi's friends.

I like this setup. And if it had to be anybody, I think it's best for Ucchi to be the one student not in Tomoko's class.
Also, that smile Yuri gives when she sees all her friends are still with her is just too sweet.
I'm looking over the trivia section for Wata Mote and the part that talks about Yuu not originally being part of the manga until Executive Meddling wasn't that apparent until Tomoko got put in the same group as Yoshida, Yuri, and Ucchi of the class field trip which changed her social life and precisely when Yuu has started appearing less and less.
It's kinda a bitter pill to swallow when Yuu can't really claim to influence Tomoko's Character Development over the course of the manga (which Yuri, Megumi, Nemoto, even Yoshida can) despite being her first friend.
But who knows, Komiyama got put into Tomoko's class so maybe Yuu can get something as well.

As upsetting as it is, I think it kind of makes sense. Yuu's friendship with Tomoko was made possible not only because of their shared interests, but also (maybe even mostly) because Yuu is such a kindhearted and nonjudgmental person, accepting Tomoko as she is. This made it possible for the two to stay friends even during Tomoko's most unsocial phase, but it also meant that their friendship did not give Tomoko much of an impulse to develop as a person.
Tomoko and Yuu seem to stay in touch (just a few chapters ago Tomoko was making a dick-shaped chocolate for Yuu - maybe we will see her giving it to Yuu in some special chapter?), but their friendship isn't much relevant to Tomoko's growth as a person, so there's less focus on it.
New chapter is out. This really turned into an ensemble story, and now we can get chapters that barely even feature Tomoko.
I wonder whether the scene with Yuri, Kotomi and Tomoki is just a quick gag, or whether it marks the beginning of a new subplot. I guess we will see.
Also, Masaki is at her happiest since, I think, she got a plushie in the chapter with a claw machine; Ucchi is honing her ninja skills; and the girl with dot eyes is shaping up to be the wackiest character.
I guess that's one way for Tomoki to think Yuri could come across as "weird."
Though, Komiyama did butt in before we could have heard any more of what Tomoki thinks of Yuri.
Also, Komiyama's friend thinking that with the straightest face was the funniest thing to me about this chapter.

Kek, I think Tomoki's opinion is slowly improving just because of other weirdos
Chapter 117 is out, A Day in the Limelight for side characters. Ucchi's obsession with Tomoko continues, and now she openly admits she finds her creepiness strangely charming; Yuri is unusually expressive; Kotomi turns out to have been a cheerleader for the baseball squad once; and Hina tries her hand at impersonation.
As for Tomoko herself, it turns out that she has enough confidence to openly make a quip at a popular girl.
