But that doesn't do anything to indicate that Gaslighting is an ongoing process that's intended to make the victim think they're going crazy. It looks like it's just a prank to scare the guy.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Fair point. And now I'm back to supporting the XKCD.
Infinite Tree: an experimental storyThat just looks like someone appears suddenly and startled another in the process. Maybe you can use the caption to help the image.
Still leaning towards xkcd.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. And I suppose caption "Use of Flash Step #78: making your brother think that the dummy is alive" wouldn't suffice?
That can work, actually. Not sure it's a more elegant solution, and I suspect if it's up someone will complain about it soon, but that can work.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman. It still doesn't indicate that it's an ongoing process or that the end goal is to make the guy think he's going crazy.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'm going to have to put in my vote for that xkcd comic.
I'm probably here. Then again, I might not be. I'm certainly observing you though. I always have been.General consensus is for the XKCD pic, but I'll give it a couple more yeas before putting it up since we've had some debate.
(For a moment there I read that as "years".)
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I read that as Morgan Freeman...it was awesome.
I am kinda leaning more towards the Homestuck one.
No bias.
Please.Wow, someone please start a TRS thread when there's a free spot. Looking at the example, half of them are just "person X tries to make person Y insane/mad" without the "by altering the environment" bit.
Voting for the XKCD pic. Homestuck... just looks like whoever Cal is just moved at super speed or whatever.

We could use the Homestuck one in an image links?
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicOnly if he's trying to make his brother think he's crazy.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.He is.
"You fail to grasp the basic principles of mad science. Common sense would be cheating." - NarbonicDave thinks that the puppet is alive, so, yes.
The Homestuck pic would go in Image Links, yes.
Bump...any other thoughts?
Supporting xkcd. Homestuck would require too much space.
(That said, it arguably already requires too much time.)
"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "Wrap this up I say.
The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.I side with Madrugaga — it frequently happens that tropes involving an entire plot (or some lengthy process) are nigh-impossible to encapsulate in a single static image without resorting to some additional textual explanation. (Which is right next door to Just A Face And A Caption) This is why webcomics get favored a lot: They don't have any animation or sound effects to get lost in the conversion to still image format.

An Ear Worm is like a Rickroll: It is never going to give you up.So? Center it.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Heck, a little reorganization and we can tighten it up even further. (Seeing little remnants of black lines is a recurring peeve):

Okay, that first one actually came out pretty well.
