Same here. It's the exact same collection as the 5th Anniversary Collection (which I already own), only with a new paint job. That'd be a colossal waste of money on my end.

Watch SymphogearMeh. Nothing I haven't seen before.
If only they decided to release it in February, there's no way I am missing out on Mass Effect 3. Even for these games.
This is the last time I'm bumping this. Sorry if it got annoying.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Hopefully I can add to the discussion here. Being someone who only played DMC 4, I am immensely looking forward to the HD re-release. Although I have to ask, which of the four do you think is the strongest?
Also in regards to Ninja Theory's handling of the new one, I am seriously confounded as to what exactly they and Capcom are trying to achieve. Their apparent goal is to sell around 5 million units and to receive high 90 scores. Based on the negative feedback to both of them though, and the fact that very few games, even the highly acclaimed ones like Uncharted, rarely reach that amount, I have serious doubts that it will achieve either goal. Not to mention that Mr. douch himself, Tameem Antoniades, doesn't seem to know what the heck he is talking about, let alone creating. He even stated that this is the first game he has scripted and directed all by himself, and hopes that it will prove that games can match up to movies. I have no comment to make on that.

Alot of people would say Devil May Cry 3. When you play it and compare it to Devil May Cry 1 and 2, you just go "wow".
3 is definitely my favorite. Also we've agreed to keep all talk of the reboot in the reboot thread. I'll post a link to it in a minute.

"All worlds begin in darkness and all so end. The heart is no different."-Ansem@ L: Well, I'd definitely have to say 3. The gameplay was revamped from the first two games, resulting in (as the dev team so eloquently put it) stylish crazy action. It's fast. It's frantic. It's fun. However, it'll admit that the first game also has a place in my heart. Sure, Dante seems antiquated in comparison, but the first game was still fluid (after all, this is the game that jumpstarted the genre of imitators, not all as slick and suave as DMC) and had some of the best boss fights in the series (Nelo Angelo, here's looking at you).
My only real problems with 4 are as follows:
- Nero. While I did like playing as him, Devil Bringer and Exceed just clashed too much with the overall dynamics of basic DMC gameplay by creating these large gaps between combos (DmC has the same problem, seeing as Donte's whip sword is pandering to Devil Bringer, but there, it's much more noticeable). It's possible, with practice and the right abilities, to mostly work around this, but for less experienced players, it makes the whole thing a bit clunkier, especially in comparison to Dante.
- The backtracking. Everyone agrees that this is one of the biggest problems with 4. Dante has to play through all of the areas Nero just went through and fight most of the same bosses, which is a shame considering how fun Dante is to play as. Being able to retain most of the styles from 3 and switch between them on the fly is difficult to master, but makes the game much more chaotic, enjoyable, and visually pleasing. Sadly, after spending about 40% of the game as Dante, you then switch back to Nero, having to then go through an annoying puzzle from earlier in the game (which Dante just decides to bypass by cutting the Gordian Knot) and fight most of those same bosses... again. All of the other games regurgitated their bosses, but at least they were more strategic about where and how you bumped into them again or just didn't recycle them so frequently.
Overall, my ranking would be 3 > 1 > 4 > 2 (which, funnily enough, is the actual chronological order of the series). Contrary to popular belief, I don't feel that 2 was terrible. It just wasn't a good DMC title, bogged down by a terrible, incomprehensible plot, laughable voice acting, and somewhat slow-paced (more or less at the first game's level). It did, however, have the Devil Trigger Majin Form, which is—hands down—the coolest thing to have been ever included in this series. I still wager that a remake could bring 2 up to par. It also had a pretty interesting combo system (timing, as well directional influence on the analog sticks when Lock-On was disengaged determined combos flowed), and, to the game's credit, laid a lot of the groundwork for all of those moves Dante can do in 3 in Gunslinger and Trickster.
It's quite simple.
- Give Dante his personality back. The back of the box says "more trash-talking attitude". This is a lie. Dante seems to be channeling Vergil for 2/3 of the game, and it's not until the last two chapters that he starts cracking cocky smirks and begins lapsing into even a semblance of his old personality.
- Redub the game with the current VAs. 2 has some potentially emotional and heartbreaking scenes that could really hit home if the voice cast was better. Dante just deadpans his way through most of his lines, Lucia's accent is all over the place, and let's not even get started on Arius.
- Iron out the story. Simply put, make it better. The basic premise (evil sorcerer running a multinational enterprise seeks to revive an ancient demon king slain by Sparda in the past and absorb his power) is fine, but so much goes unexplained. Dante learns that the Vie de Marli worked with Sparda to seal away Argosax, yet he doesn't bother to ask why they couldn't have watched over his family as a favor to Sparda. Why doesn't he question this? Where does that Amulet in the menu come from? It is some kind of ancient Vie de Marli artifact given to Dante/Lucia by Matier? And none of the demons—barring Trismagia (who only gets about three lines)—talk. Few of them have any personality to speak of. Bolverk lost a duel in the past to Sparda. You mean to tell me he can't have a few meaningful exchanges with the son of the demon who bested him in combat and slayed his battlemates? Give us something to go off of, please.
- Cut down/rework the bosses. With few exceptions, the bosses of 2 weren't all that notable. Dante and Lucia ended up sharing 80% of the bosses between their stories. And most of bosses were only one or two missions apart. Split up the bosses more evenly between Dante and Lucia and make them more interesting and more challenging to fight against (the only exceptions to this rule would be Bolverk, Trismagia, Arius, and Argosax/The Despaired Embodied). 2 was actually good about limiting the recycling of bosses, so that's not a problem that really needs to be addressed. And this leads me to my next point...
- Devil Arms. Retroactively speaking, the first game only had Alastor, Ifrit, and Sparda, but at least it was something to work with. Dante and Lucia received generic weapons that didn't really function differently from their default equipment aside of slight differences in range and power. Their ranged weapons were a bit more varied, but did Dante really need a generic rocket launcher and some SMGs (obviously, E&I and the Shotgun are mainstays)? Lucia had two kinds of knives, a time-activated explosive grenade, and a Needlegun (for underwater missions) similar to what Dante used in 1. And since 3 and 4 have firmly established the "take devil souls and turn them into weapons" element, there's no reason the multiple bosses Dante and Lucia face can't be converted into kickass weapons. We have a giant orangutan who shoots bubbles of concussive force from its mouth, a serpentine water mouth with tentacles that can spew poison from her mouth and the ability to create energy barriers, a two-headed demon with a ball of chain that can summon electric lasers out of the walls, a giant moth that lays eggs that hatch into bloodthirsty moths, and the oracle of Demon World, a multi-faced head with multiple eyes who controls the elements of fire, lightning, and ice, can split in three, and recombine Voltron-style to fire a destructive blast of magical energy. Oh, and Phantom inexplicably comes back in one of the final levels. Exclusive to his story, Dante faces a giant building brought to life that fires lasers from its mouth, a flaming bull demon with a giant hammer, and a skeletal warrior with a lance who is flanked by two wolves embodying the element of wind, is cloaked by an aura of darkness, and fights similar to Nelo Angelo; Lucia faces a water demon that can turn invisible and use electricity. You can come up with something from all of this, right? And even if Dante and Lucia share bosses, perhaps you can have each Devil Arm function differently in accordance to how Dante and Lucia play (assuming that you don't just split up the bosses, as Dante has quite a few more than Lucia).
- Revamp the gameplay. This one goes without saying. If this is set after all the other games, then there's no reason Dante shouldn't play like he does in 3 and 4. Keep DT Majin Form. Flesh out Lucia. She plays like Dante with acrobatic dancing attacks, which is fine, but she deserves some of her own flair. Trish plays like DMC1!Dante (a la, using moves from both Alastor/Sparda and Ifrit) and was more or less the basis of how she plays in MvC3, but you could still probably add more to her plate as well. The Amulet and its corresponding Devil Hearts can stay, but those could probably be fleshed out with some more abilities as well. Additionally, flight should be an innate ability of DT and not tied to the Amulet. And please reduce the amount of orbs it takes to level up the weapons if that feature is going to return. Leveling up all of the weapons was a hassle.
Heheh, sorry, long post.
As for DmC, we indeed have a thread for that (just try to be civil about it and don't rampantly bash Tameem; we already had it locked once by mods), but all I have to say is this. I hope Tameem can wake up and smell the roses before it's too late. Aside of visuals, I cannot name one good thing about DmC and Tameem's attitude is making me no less grateful for whatever self-inflicted hell he is heading towards.
Like a lot of things, I share the pretty much the same views as X and agree with him. The only difference I can think of is that I like Devil May Cry 4 better than Devil May Cry 1. DMC 1 isn't a bad game though.
That's a pretty big thing to put. What makes you like it so much? I'm genuinely curious what makes you think so.
Worth it.
Majin Form may lack some of the flash and pizazz of regular gameplay, but it turns Dante into an unstoppable, invincible killing machine able to decimate anything within a five-mile radius in seconds. If there's anything that can be salvaged from 2, it's that.
Oh so he just turns into the Dan Hibiki of the Devil May Cry universe? Cool.
OYAJIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII~~~~!!!!!!!!
Let me know if that joke get's old, I don't want to wear it out.
Nah, it's cool. Although Dante's something of an anti-Dan at first, considering how he didn't start accepting his demonic lineage until after 3.
Dante will only achieve his true potential when he fully masters the Saikyo-Ryu style.
I bet that's the real reason Vergil lost. He didn't want to accept it.

Just started re-playing DMC 4, and I know Credo is supposed to be voiced by Dan Southworth, but now he sounds a lot like TJ Rotolo to me.
Now I can't help but picture Frank West whenever Credo speaks.
EDIT: Just checked the DMC wiki, turns out TJ Rotolo DOES voice Credo. Dan Southworth only did motion capture for him.

In our heart, Mr. Ando will always be a penguin.Huh, why do we have two threads?
Can you decide which one we want to keep? Duplicates are discouraged, so I'm going to have to lock one.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI'd say lock this one. The other DMC thread (the one that says "Devil May Cry", not "Devil May Cry - the reboot") is already used for discussing the series in general, which makes this one redundant, not to mention that it has about a good 20 pages on this one.
Alright, Imma lock this one. We have the other thread for anything we need.

I probably won't buy it. I already own all the games, there's no sense in shelling out a decent amount of change for a texture upgrade.
