Not necessarily.

I've been a little inspired by Yugioh Arc V and it's multiverse concept.

It's not so crazy to treat certain gens as their own world.

I mean:

Kanto has at least 5 versions: the original gen I and II version, it's gen III remake, the gen IV version, and now the Lets Go versions, and that's leaving out the original Yellow.

You could take things about them and treat them as different versions of the same place, like one world not having Mega Evolution or Z moves, or even saying there are some pokemon that don't exist in certain worlds.

It's admittedly all still rough as ideas go, but I think it could work.

[up] Except we know that's not how it works. We've known for a while now that the games have an actual timeline to them.

Yeah, I know that.

I'm proposing an idea where there are other universes beyond the ones we know (like how US & UM had Rainbow Rocket filled with the leaders of the other teams from worlds where they essentially won).

I might not be explaining it well: It's not necessarily that the old Gens are different universe as much as the idea of other worlds that are similar to those old Gens or based on them for the story, but still with their own differences.

I also said there could be places based on the different manga as well.

That's not how it works with the actual timeline (which I only just found out about), but this isn't that.

So an idea just popped into my head for stories based in the I Choose You universe.

Since Ash never travels with Brock and Misty and all the others (though they apparently exist), it got me to thinking what they'd be doing without him around to influence them directly.

So I wondered about a series of one shots and vignettes about his would be companions in that world, and how their lives are different.

Like, to start with one of the harder characters: without Ash to inspire her to go out travelling in the first place, how would you get Serena to...well go out travelling?

Hell, Brock and Misty were only able to leave because of the formers Dad coming back and the latter's sisters technically being the actual leaders until the end of Johto (and Misty admitted that she used her bike as an excuse to get out and travel), and in the case of Brock, that only happened because Ash inspired his Dad to face his son again.

May and Dawn are less difficult, as both were going out on journeys already, and Iris seemed to be doing her own thing as well. I can't say where Cilan would go, as I don't know if he'd leave if he hadn't met Ash.

It's an interesting idea, writing the lives of the former supporting cast in a world where many of them never met the main character, but I'm not sure if it can really fly.

I found a really good, scary and sad fic about the Hoenn games and Kyogre flooding Sootpolis without the player to save everyone, forcing the Elite Four, Steven, and Wallace to take drastic measures. It's super descriptive and intense! https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13041553/1/Final-Gambit

I've been trying to delve deep into the fandom (or more specifically, the Fanfiction Dot Net section) to see if I can find any "lost gems" from 1997-2003. Unsurprisingly, most early stories are anime-based.

A few weeks ago, I found this interesting one called The Myamoto Project about Jessie's mother Miyamoto (or "Myamoto" as she's called). It's always nice seeing Miyamoto-based fics and this one is definitely interesting, at minimum. The plot starts with Giovanni clones Miyamoto to create an army of super soldiers.

The Dark Side of Innocence is another good early fic about TR. It's Rocketshipping and a Dark Fic, but it's nicely written. It's a shame people don't write about Mondo much these days.

I've been reading a few fanfics, primarily those with Ash as a main character, and I've also been watching this SFM series by Jordan Bros 1 which is a Pokemon series also featuring Mario, FNAF, and Undertale characters

Okay, here's something that I have written on Fanfiction Dot Net where I go by the name Tyrant Overlord Killidia.

Title: Pokémon Colosseum Xtra Dimension: Cipher's Return.

Fandom: Pokémon

Rating: T

Description/Summary: Almost as soon as Ash returns from the Sinnoh League along with Brock, the two find themselves getting pulled into a major incident involving Pokémon starting with the high-profile rescue of a Professor from a criminal organization's laboratory.

Link: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13241793/1/PokA9mon-Colosseum-Xtra-Dimension-Cipher-s-Return

The plot for this story which is currently a one-shot is that Ash and Brock get dragged into the events of Gale of Darkness after the events of the Diamond and Pearl season because they went to Orre to rescue Professor Ivy (it turns out that Cipher kidnapped her).

And I thought I'd share some good news! My fanfic, The Curious and the Shiny, won the 2018 Serebii Forum Awards in three different categories, including Best Pokemon Chaptered Fic, Best Pokemon Centric and Best Character Dynamic! I'm chuffed to bits with this outcome! It feels very rewarding after all the revisions it went through.

There's this really, really cool fan fic I found called Pokemon: A Marvelous Journey. It's about an autistic girl who goes on a journey through the Johto region to track down her criminal older sister and all the experiences she has while doing so. The early chapters are admittedly rather rough around the edges, but it's extremely well written, the characters are all engaging and well-rounded, it has a great mix of humor, sweetness, fun, and darker moments, and is just an all-around great story. I've been updating the story's page here because I like it that much. Best of all, not only is the authoress autistic herself, but she has gone to great pains to write the main character and her disability in a nuanced, sensitive way, treating the character with respect and dignity while still having her act and behave like a regular kid would. But even without the autism representation, it's still an awesome story.

Does anyone know of any good comedic Pokémon fics? Not necessarily crack fics, just generally funny. They could be based on the games or the anime, though I suppose I’d prefer the former (though I’d definitely be down for the latter, especially if it’s Rocket Trio-focused).

Hello there.

I had an idea of a Pokemon fic, that would be a series of stories revolving around three different OCs. What connects them is a mansion that belonged to Victor MacGrath, Cynthia's predecessor as champion of Sinnoh, and the general motif of the past.

  • The first protagonist and de-facto main character of the series is Christoper MacGrath, Victor's grandson. He and his twin sister Georgia inherited the mansion after his grandfather died due to old age. Due to financial problems, Chris was forced to rent some rooms in the mansion and has to work for Cynthia as her assistant, despite being her equal in Pokemon battles.
His stories would concern the League, his Pokemon shenanigans, and most importantly, trying to live up his grandfather's reputation as one of the greatest Pokemon Trainers. His primary Pokemon are Zoroark named Fredrick and Delphox named Alfred. Fredrick is the one who keeps other Pokemon in the mansion in-check, while Alfred is technically Chris' butler.
  • The second protagonist is Alison Champers, the first permanent tenant in the mansion and Christoper's Old Flame. Alison is a gravure idol, professional Pokemon Trainer and masked professional wrestler who goes by stage name "Lady Incineroar" due to her costume resembling said Pokemon.
Her stories would concern rekindling her relationship with Christoper before someone else steals his heart, her general wrestling and Pokemon Trainer career (with her very first story showing her becoming women wrestling's champion after beating her rival) and how her past is starting to haunt her. She was a Jerkass in the past and people now are trying to claim their revenge. Her primary Pokemon are shiny Lopunny named Angel and Blaziken named Sigrun. Despite being meek, Angel loves to fight (even more when Mega Evolved), while Sigrun acts as her older sister and she usually helps Fredrick uphold peace in the mansion.
  • The third protagonist is Thomas Kincaid, the second permanent tenant alongside his girlfriend Charlotte and the youngest of the three protagonists. He's a Psychic, who wants to learn the truth behind his parents' disappearance and the reason why they abandoned him in an orphanage. His only clue is their journal, detailing their past adventures. The reason why he contacted Christopher is because his grandfather was an acquaintance of theirs and hoped he and Cynthia could help him.
His stories would concern him and his girlfriend doing odd jobs to pay for their rent, as well as looking into his family's past. According to his research, his parents were connected to Ultra Beasts. His main Pokemon are Gardevoir named Athena and Greninja named Hanzo. Athena is a Servile Snarker who dreams to arrange a marriage between her master and Charlotte, while Hanzo is a Blood Knight who waits for a perfect opportunity to break loose.

I hope some of you will like the idea and would like to discuss it with me more...

I will become a great writer one day! Hopefully...

Seijun Tombo is my favorite Pokémon fan-artist. I discovered their art years ago and it rivals even the official manga.

I've never liked Red being a stoic Memetic Badass so I was drawn to their art. Back in 2011 and 2012, everyone drew "Pixiv Red" and it was hard to find stuff on Red's canonical designs. Seijun's Red is a bit different from Classic Red - his hairstyle is different - but it's similar enough.

I've been reading the fanfic Eldritch recently, and aside from a few quibbles I've enjoyed it a lot.

The author does my favorite video game fic thing, where they take very minor characters & events and then extrapolate them for story ideas.
