Did you read the whole thread? We aren't renaming Bolivian Army Ending: that option was voted down. Uncertain Doom is a separate trope in YKTTW.
I know I'm coming late to the party, but... the ending of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is not ambiguous. They almost certainly die.
The death isn't onscreen, so it didn't happen.
Rhymes with "Protracted."It also doesn't involve a full army, and I'm not entirely sure whether it's Bolivian or not (considering they flee the US, and Bolivia is nowhere near the US).
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! That's not what that trope means. Also, it clearly is about to almost certainly happen. That is different than actually showing it happen, but not the same as showing something that indicates doubt as to whether they die.
Folks, just as a reminder, we already voted NOT TO RENAME Bolivian Army Ending. Arguing about whether it is a good name is a bit pointless now.
All we need to do now is launch Uncertain Doom and make sure that the Bolivian tropes don't have any examples that belong there.
It's not, however, too late to point out that Uncertain Doom may not be the best name for a supertrope of a trope which does, in fact, suggest that the characters probably die.
That's true. The new supertrope is still in YKTTW, so making name suggestions are fine. My apologies if I misunderstood the conversation.

I've got more computer access now; can I get some more name ideas for an alt-titles Crowner before I launch this?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. Thanks to the Rule of Perception, anything that's not explicitly shown is uncertain. So it's not a big problem.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Clocking due to lack of activity.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.It looks like there isn't. Please launch it and do any necessary cleaning.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Soap referenced this trope more-or-less by name back in 1979. I think it's fine for name and concept.
I should mention I want it restricted to actual endings, or at least things that were thought to be endings when they were written. There's a reason ending is in the title. No regular cliffhangers.
If you look at the closed crowner, you can see that we already decided those issues. We're just cleaning up here.
Bumping to say I took over UncertainDoom and am going to launch it soon. Speak now if you have suggestions for major changes before launch.
Uncertain Doom is now live, although I haven't done all the crosslinking yet.
Looks like we're done here. Nice work.

Crown Description:
Five options, not exclusive.- Bolivian Army Cliffhanger is for the end of a season or novel in a series.
- Bolivian Army Ending is for the very end of a work.
- The supertrope would be for any case where a death is uncertain.
Please for the love of God do not let something like "Uncertain Doom" become the name, we have already lost tons of creative trope names in the favor of generic prose. What happened to the "buttload more informal" part of the front page?
