Yeah, that there are real scientists named Surak seals the deal.
I like that one. It's basically a trope from future history.
Fictional Future Celebrity sounds like a type of character. Like Ruby Rhod from The Fifth Element. This is a dialogue trope.
Newton, Einstein, Future Guy?

Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI like Fictional Future Celebrity, but I think Meta Four has a point and we are likely to get misuse of that nature.
Since people have started suggesting possible new names, I thought that it might be a good idea to have a rename crowner, so there is now one here here. Feel free to tell me if you think it is premature.
I think a rename is called for because I do not believe that the name Surak suggests anything futuristic in itself and as others have mentioned, there are real life scientists with that name.

"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dNo, the alt name would be premature. This one is fine.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Maybe if we replaced Surak with some more obviously futuristic/alien name, like Blorxx or something. Personally I think commas would help a lot, but if we don't wanna do that we oughta make sure the name reflects that it's not about the namedropped character himself but about the act of namedropping someone from THE FUTURE.
EDIT: From the Futurama example: Da Vinci Copernicus Euclid And Braino, possibly shortened to Da Vinci Euclid And Braino?

[The rest was unintelligible.]Well just three names alone doesn't give the context that this is a form of listing.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Well, it seems to work with Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking...
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And even if it is broke, just ignore it and maybe it'll be sort of OK — like the environment."Not even with commas? Not even with the word "and" thrown in there to make people sure that it's a list of three names? If it still doesn't convey a list, then I guess the only other option is to put something like Humourous List Of Two Well Known Figures Plus One Fictional Future Figure.

[The rest was unintelligible.]But not for Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs. That one still seems to get people confusing it for just shoving two objects together even on the image pickin thread.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickWell, that's definitely due to the third item not seeming like a separate item.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And even if it is broke, just ignore it and maybe it'll be sort of OK — like the environment."Why is this limited only to future people? As I said, I'm pretty sure that there's already a trope covering a more general "list of present things and one future thing" (which doesn't require the Rule of Three stuff either), but if there's not, then this should be expanded to cover all elements of culture, not just celebrities.
I think I agree. The core of this trope is mentioning bits of future culture to make it seem like things happened between now and whenever the piece is set. It's Establishing Future History, or something to that effect.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickIt isn't limited to people.
Note also that it must include stuff from the present day alongside the future stuff. That juxtaposition is important for context—it's a shorthand to the audience that the new thing is just like these old things.

Rhymes with "Protracted."Definitively doesn't need a full blown rename. The Famous Future Guy sounds pretty good for a searchable redirect, and I still think proper customtitling solves the core issue. Expanding the title as in the "As Famous As" suggestion, however, would cover for both basis.
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google? After reading the thread I like Dragon Quest Z's suggestion the most. Adding a 'as famous as' for context will do the job. While we're at it we should make a more futuristic and made up name to make the 'fictional name' clear.
Establishing Future History is interesting. I think it's related to Noodle Incident, but I loath the idea of cloning off of something that crappy.
I think "As Important As Newton Einstein Or Surak" would be better than "famous".
Fight smart, not fair. The more I think about it, the more I think Establishing Future History is probably the supertrope. This trope is one way to do it, but not the only way.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickSingle-prop showed consensus to rename. Switching crowner.
^Agreed.

Remember, this is not just about the use of a fictional future celebrity, it's specifically about juxtaposing a fictional future celebrity with famous figures from the real world. Fictional Future Celebrity as a title would almost certainly lead to misuse.

Rhymes with "Protracted."
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
Famous Future Scientist? Fictional Famous Scientist? Fictional Celebrity?
It doesn't need to be three people listed, and the sci-fi character isn't a sci-fi character In-Universe.
