Where'd you hear that?
Umbran Climax◊Chat during a stream. It was a couple months ago.
"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "Um. Well, I was reading the thread, so perhaps I misunderstood something. I apologize if i got the facts wrong. >_>;
I couldn't think of anything to put here, so have this.Oh. Cause I've heard from importers that the combat was really deep, especially compared to other 3D tales games.
Wait, is this that same streamer that died on the first boss, like, 20 times?
Mistaken about what?
Umbran Climax◊Um. I must've misread and thought your previous post was directed at me.
So, to clarify, it won't be localized on the Wii?
I couldn't think of anything to put here, so have this.At this point, most likely no.
Looks like Cheria is Laura Bailey. Why is it that she has voice a main female character in the past 3 JRPGs I've played this year?

GOH! JII! RAH!
Oh, okay.
Well, her voice acting seems pretty good.
I couldn't think of anything to put here, so have this.If my friend does decide to get this game, I'm totally mooching off of it and trying it out. Plus it'd give me a chance to finally play multiplayer tales.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadSo, is there anyway to get the original Japanese audio? Because the dubbed voices are awful to my ears...
Other than Asbel's Adult voice(which sounds way too young and not nearly as badass as the Japanese version) I can't see what's so bad about the dub.
Also no, no original dub option.
Umbran Climax◊I've only heard preview voices from trailers, but it doesn't seem awful. Dub+sub combo is always prefered, but it seems like its not that bad. Plus, VOICED SKITS!
Too bad I haven't gotten with the aforementioned friend.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadAh, once I got out of the childhood age, the dubbed voices improved remarkably (with the exception of "sounds like he is 14" Asbel, as mentioned above). Maybe I just don't like kid's voices?
I'm really digging this game so far. Great artwork (the matte painting backgrounds for some scenes are gorgeous), fun story, lots of humor mixed in. A few things I'm just not really used to yet, like the way combat works. I'm bloody awful at it, mostly because the whole "smash buttons AND point stick in the right direction" thing is kind of like rubbing your belly and patting your head at the same time, and I'm bad at that, too. My highest combo so far is 7, and that was with the "spam as much as you like because your CC is infinite" mode active.
I'm also a bit confounded with some of the other game details too. For starters, there's just way too much variety when it comes to food items - I get that they do different sorts of effects, but keeping track of my inventory is a nightmare. I'm afraid to sell anything in case I'll get screwed and need it for a quest turn in or need it as an ingredient for making new items, yet I'm already finding myself destroying quest rewards because I already have 15 of the item (15...is a really, really low number). It would be a nice touch if they had made some sort of "stuff you want to sell" tab in your inventory, you know?
The other thing that kind of annoys me is how I have to compulsively talk twice to every single person, every time I first visit a town...and then do it all over again after some turning point in the plot. NP Cs are nice and all, but good grief!
Otherwise though, seems like a solid JRPG to me, and I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.
I wish I could play this, but I don't feel like buying a PS3 for one game.
Just finished the Child Arc. The only voices that actually annoyed me were the secondary adults. Asbel's dad is so meh.
I read a review before that claimed the Child Arc is 8 hours. MAN did they exaggerate. Unless you go out of your way to waste time it's, at worst, 3 hours. Especially if you decide to control Sophie with her, absurd at the time, attack strength.
I like A Style replacing normal attacks. Even if you don't memorize what specific move is where, the moves tend to fit based on what direction the character will move when they attack.
Making the primary camera angle diagonal and from above the character, instead of just horizontal like the earlier 3D Tales games also feels much better for giving you a good view of the battle field, while still emphasizing the controlled character and their target.
I'm not entirely used to side/forward/back-stepping, but it also feels like a good addition.
I keep forgetting to back off and charge up CC after finishing a combo, but it's otherwise extremely intuitive.

Umbran Climax◊Okay, it might be because I'm playing on hard, but I have to say I prefer the CC system to the TP system. Feels less spam-heavy this way, and really makes you have to think about which attacks to use.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"Tales Of Graces is really sneaky in some areas, hiding important items via Camera Screw. Here's a tip (I'm keeping it spoiler free as possible): when going to meet up Richard's "butler", head left just before going reaching the castle.
Does anyone know what the chest passwords are?
GOH! JII! RAH!The first one in the Knight Academy is "Treasure". Don't know the one in Lhant.
Really enjoying this so far. Only problem I have with the writing is that Cheria doesn't seem to account for the fact that none of them saw Sophie "die". It's particularly strange given that Asbel saw her vanish in a flash of light, the very same one she reappeared with, and doesn't seem to put 2 and 2 together. No big deal, though.
"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"The nice thing about CC is that it makes you feel better about spamming. Sure there's a limit, but after a few seconds, you can keep going. TP always makes me feel like I need to conserve my artes. I'm cool with RP Gs that use special attacks/magic as resources but it can be so easy to get into the combo groove in Tales and run out of TP fast.
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadFor anyone who reached a certain memetic moment in the game, what did you think of it compared to either of the two Japanese version? Obviously, I'm talking about Richard's "TOMODACHIIII!" Here it is for anyone who wants to hear it

This game is pretty fun.
To those playing, how does it match up with Vesperia or Symphonia so far?
I'll probably end up getting it anyway, but I want to know if its worth getting now or waiting until the price goes down a little.

A lie was told...I haven't had the chance to play either of those titles, but I am finding Graces to be a great game so far. Who knows, maybe the other two are as good or better than Graces, but Graces is no slouch, either.
My biggest issue with the CC system is that I can never seem to get the A-artes to land when playing with Asbel, so I've basically been playing Asbel as a Magic Knight.
I have a question about items: stuff like the spices and tonic waters, do you just feed them all to Asbel, or spread the love? Seems like they would get the most mileage if I just fed Asbel since he's always in my party, but at the same time some characters like Pascal could really use the stats boost. ESPECIALLY Pascal, actually - she is such a Glass Cannon it is really unbelievable.
Also, if anyone knows how item quality works, I'd love to hear it.

If it were me I would give it to who needs it. I tend to swap people out frequently in Tales games (and Star Ocean games) so giving it all to the main wouldn't benefit me that much. If this game is like the other Tales games, you may find yourself playing as someone that's not Asbel sometimes, so you want for that person to be preparred. Good thing you're actually thinking about doing it throughout. I tend to be one of those players that hoards them and then stuffs everyone's faces with buff items near the late stages (same with Dragon Quest).
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft instead
Well, I can say that I'm a little disappointed the localized version won't be on the wii. But, I've been trying to save up for a PS 3, so it's okay for me. I haven't played any Tales games, but they seem like they'd be awesome.
I couldn't think of anything to put here, so have this.
