The Raiders just lost Derek Carr and the Giants secured a playoff spot...we really are going to see Brady/Eli round three. The New England Patriots are F#*%ed.
EDIT: and on Christmas Night, a 346 pound man dressed in red and white threw a touchdown pass to end the playoff hopes of the Denver Broncos. Seems appropriate, and hats off to Kansas City nose tackle Dontari Poe.

As things currently stand, if the Redskins win on Sunday afternoon over the Giants the only way both the Packers and Lions get into the playoffs is if their Sunday Night game ends in a tie (if it doesn't, winner gets NFC North and loser stays home). Cue the (presumably joking) "deal to kneel" calls.
The playoff seeds are set.
AFC
(1) New England Patriots
(2) Kansas City Chiefs
(3) Pittsburgh Steelers
(4) Houston Texans
(5) Oakland Raiders
(6) Miami Dolphins
NFC
(1) Dallas Cowboys
(2) Atlanta Falcons
(3) Seattle Seahawks
(4) Green Bay Packers
(5) New York Giants
(6) Detroit Lions

"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterAny Super Bowl matchups you guys want to see? I'm hoping for a Steelers vs Falcons game.
If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!I'd still like to see a rematch of one of the first two Super Bowls, though GB vs. OAK isn't particularly likely with Carr hurt.
Wild Card Round is in the books, and in a reversal from last year, all 4 Wild Cards lost. And Texans at Pats is opening at -16; if that holds, it will be the fourth largest post-season spread in the Super Bowl Era.
Rumor: Chargers expected to announce move to Los Angeles.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."So which city inherits the title of stadium-funding bargaining chip now?
Chargers officially announced the move.
I hear rumblings of Vegas and San Antonio being the next team destinations.
It's London isn't it?
After all, the NFL is really stress testing the London market with the four games they put on offer for 2017. If these games all sell out like the previous years then I think the NFL has to be convinced that quality is not a requirement for American Football to be successful in the UK.
I mean seriously:
- Baltimore (8-8) @ Jacksonville (3-13)
- New Orleans (7-9) @ Miami (10-6)
- Minnesota (8-8) @ Cleveland (1-15)
- Arizona (7-8-1) @ LA Rams (4-12)
Overall record for these teams in 2016: 48-79-1 (.379) One playoff team - heck, only one team with a winning record period. Surely we deserve a little better than that...
London is probably an eventual market, but the realities of travel right now make it impractical.
Could also be Mexico, with increasing slates of games in Mexico City.
That's the end of the Divisional rounds.
If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!And for the 13th time in 14 years, the AFC will have sent Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Ben Roethlisberger to the Super Bowl. Three cheers for "Parity".
And on the NFC side, you'll have a team that hasn't been to the Super Bowl in 6 or (more likely) 17 years.
The Atlanta Falcons have defeated the Green Bay Packers 44-21, and have advanced to be the NFC representative in Super Bowl LI.
"I'm Commander Shepard, but I guess I'm now your therapist."The Patriots will also be in the Super Bowl.
If you have a problem with Hokuto then tell it to me!And out of 10 games, only perhaps 2 1/2 were engaging (first half of Packers-Giants, Packers-Cowboys, Steelers-Chiefs).
EDIT: And in non-Super Bowl news, the Raiders have filed the paperwork to move to Las Vegas by 2020; it needs 24/32 votes from owners to go through.

Here's a humorous and brilliant recap of the playoffs.

Enjoy.
A naive question from one of those non-American people who don't understand the craziness surrounding the longest commercial in the world (with some sport cuts here and there) - why isn't this thread more active? Is it because no one cares about Atlanta? Or everyone hates the Patriots? Both? Is it to avoid insulting Tom Brady's political opinions?
heh, well, surprisngly I don't think most of us are THAT passionate about football. Sure we have teams we root for(I'm from Florida, so I root for Tampa Bay; you know, the Florida team that doesn't suck assballs), but we mostly aren't fanatics which means we don't have 5 page discussions of Brady vs. Manning
That, and the NFL subreddits are among the very few on that site which are well modded, so they are very active with actual football discussion instead of devolving into flame wars or getting derailed onto tangents. That said, the two weeks before the Super Bowl are pretty bad with nothing to talk about besides the one game.
Very conflicted feelings right now. This win feels good, but it put the #1 pick back in the Brown's hands.
