It's true; this show contains just about everything that typically comes to mind when you say 'bad anime', and yet somehow, none of it matters. It's just having so much fun that you can't hold any of it against it.

Caught up just in time to see the last episode.

Love this show.

Love the varied abilities, the mix of talents on the class, how the main character has a pretty nifty skill instead of simply being better than everyone, the baffling amount of world building that makes my heart hurt, how nobody has fallen head over heels for Aoi instead showing camaraderie and respect and familiarity and how the world has remained mostly consistent with its own rules.

It remains a very silly show but one I can very much enjoy since it avoided most of the pitfalls that make me utterly hate some that are quite alike it.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

This is just so much fun to watch. I'm glad the second season is coming so soon.

Started watching. Gilphon's post at the top of this page pretty sum up my feelings. I should hate this show, but it's bizarrely fascinating. I don't know if I actually like it but I'm sure I'll finish it and probably watch the next season as well.

Huh, Innocentius really is voiced by Nakata Joji. I can't root against him! Well, I guess I rather like Masuzumi so whatever. On the other hand Horizon herself is little more than a macguffin that I can't be expected to care about and Tori is only okay. Why am I enjoying this show a lot?

I quite agree.

Now that I think about it there are many ways this series could be worse.

To be honest the setting is still all just so much background to me though. How are you doing with it?

The early episodes didn't tell you shit, the fanservice and character design looks kinda weird and I find it difficult to actually care about most of the characters. For some reason I want Masuzumi to be the protagonist. Horizon hasn't done anything and Tori hasn't either, though I suppose he will. Their relationship really needed more focus before deciding that everyone is willing to go to war over the girl. For some reason mostly criticisms are coming to mind, but I'll say again that I don't really dislike this show or anything, it's just doing a lot of things wrong.

[up] That's kind of the appeal for me: all the wrong ingredients and yet it makes for tasty soup.

Well, all caught up. The second season will probably feature a lot of Horizon and Tori and since I don't like either I'll probably skip it.

Whose bright idea was it to not have the main characters actually meet until the eleventh or twelfth episode? Why are people willing to go to war to protect her? Especially when the Pope guy, jerk though he is, agreed to give them what they actually needed in the form of opening up their assets so they wouldn't all starve.

[up][up]Keep in mind a good portion of the main cast were friends with Horizon before. In addition to that, Musashi was already being repressed by the other factions, so the events in the series might have been the final straw for many people.

From what I've seen, promotion for the second season doesn't focus on Toori and Horizon either. That might turn out to be somewhat misleading, but we won't know until we see the second season.

Nobody actually said they were friends, though. They didn't even think of her as an actual person until the Horizon reveal came. Maybe Masuzumi was her friend.

They didn't know Horizon was sort of still alive, but they did think of her as a friend. But yeah, I agree with Marq, they're an opposed people being given an excuse to act out.

Okay, I can buy the last straw thing, but I wish we'd seen them actually talk to Horizon. Masuzumi did and I'll buy that she was her friend but Masuzumi seems to have been something of an outcast or otherwise not part of the group. Not without reason, mind you, but it wouldn't seem as though they would have the same group of acquaintances.

Well, the first episode of season 2 has aired, and subs are out there.

As expected, the episode picks up exactly where season 1 ended. The Musashi is under attack by a Tres Espana fleet and needs to hold them off long enough to escape. Most of the episode consists of fighting. First against the Tres Espana forces and then against some of England's finest. Just like in the first season, there are some pretty unique abilities and weird character designs. The pace is a bit quick, but they have a lot to cover in this season and the fights are still solid. The bits with our ignorant Imperial heir are also quite entertaining.

Overall, I quite liked the episode. Looking forward to next week.

I kinda feel that showing them so weak wasn't a good way to start the season. Well, if the whole thing is supposed to be a struggle it's a good start I suppose.

Highlight was Tori turning up naked and completely unaffected by disgust and... I didn't even know they did jiggle physics down there! Well, techinically we didn't see but... It sure sounded like that.

The fights in this show are so damn cool. I would gush about every single fight scene but eh, that would be too long.

Brb, gonna binge on Horizon info.

Information on Horizon is labyrinthine, to say the least. Suffice to say what we see in the anime is about 10% of the world of Horizon.

To give you an idea on just how much, the first 9 episodes of S1 was literally just the prologue.

Episode 2 has aired and the friendly /a/nons from Hatena have released their (decent quality) speedsubs.

It's a decent episode, though I wasn't fully awake when watching so a rewatch is in order. Anyway, things are heating up further. The upcoming Armada battle should be cool, especially if most of the class actually get to fight. We also meet a potentially quite important character and find out a bit more about the Tres Espana cast. Unfortunately, the new ending is not quite as good as Pieces. Some highlights in this episode: Gin is funny as hell and the air-drifting Musashi.

Looking forward to the next episode.

Episode 16: Tenzou meets a busty blonde, Horizon continues her groin attacks, and the merchant couple show just how good they are when it comes to making money.
