^^^ Isn't all humour expectation-subverting? From a Certain Point of View.

Thanks for the all fish!

Does anyone here like Office Space? Seems to me it would fit under "LCD" humor, since work problems should be relatable to most people.

I especially enjoy poking fun at my characters' quirks, pretensions and hypocrisies, and I like it when other writers do the same with their characters.

Bobby you... you put my thoughts into words.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I like narm/Narm Charm a lot. Not necessarily narm on a meta level, but as an in-story thing too.

If I understand what you're saying correctly, the in-universe version of Narm would be Failed Attempt at Drama.

And at least personally, while I think Office Space type humor is unfunny, I don't hate it with the same passion I do toilet humor and the like. There is something of a difference between "LCD" humor and crass humor - all crass humor is LCD, but not all LCD humor is crass.

meh. That's not true.

It's just that the execution is rarely good.

I like the DVD commentary on that bit: "If you're going to do a fart joke, you may as well go all the way, right?"

I like crass humor a lot but then again my favorite type of funny is antihumor, so.

Humour can come from contrasting the situation with the characters. Check out the page for The Comically Serious

[up][up][up][up]I'm not certain what you mean by that. I don't consider that scene to be funny, but I never claimed that some people wouldn't, so I don't know what you're disagreeing with.

Toilet humor is not inherently LCD humor.

It's just that easy to write stupid stuff is LCD humor, which toilet humor usually is a part of.

I'm having this same problem. One of my characters is supposed to be witty. I am not witty. Problems have arisen.
